La poste française avait déjà émis (le 23 juin 2017) un timbre consacré au 100ème anniversaire de l'entrée en guerre des États-Unis d'Amérique, dans le cadre de la 1ère guerre mondiale.
Les 29 et 30 septembre 2017, une vignette LISA a été mise en circulation sur le même thème, dans 2 localités de la Meuse (55), Gondrecourt-le-Château et Saint-Mihiel (également Bar-le-Duc ?).
Conçue par Sophie Beaujard à partir d'une photographie (de la "National Archives and Records Administration") montrant des soldats volontaires américains en France en 1917, cette LISA (tirage : 20000, tarif "Lettre Prioritaire" ici) disponible uniquement en version "papier thermique LISA 2", a été utilisée sur le pli ci-dessous, avec TAD spécial de Gondrecourt-le-Château du 1er jour d'émission. The French Post had already issued (on June 23, 2017) a stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the United States of America's entry into World War I.
On September 29 and 30, 2017, a new French ATM stamp "LISA" was put into circulation on the same theme, in two cities in the Meuse department (55), Gondrecourt-le-Château and Saint-Mihiel (also in Bar-le-Duc?).
Designed by Sophie Beaujard from a photograph (from the "National Archives and Records Administration") showing American volunteer soldiers in France in 1917, this LISA (print run: 20,000, "Priority Letter" rate here) only available in "LISA 2 thermic paper 2" version, was used on the letter below, with special postmark from Gondrecourt-le-Château of the first day of issue. Cette LISA inclut également un portrait du général Pershing (à droite), commandant en chef du corps expéditionnaire américain en France pendant la 1ère guerre mondiale. Des drapeaux français et américains complètent l'ensemble.
Pour contrer la "guerre sous-marine à outrance" des allemands contre les navires américains chargés d'approvisionner l'Europe, la président américain Wilson déclare officiellement la guerre à l'Allemagne le 6 avril 1917.
Ce 1er engagement militaire américain en Europe (sur le front de l'Est principalement, à partir de septembre 1918), rompant alors avec la politique isolationniste, a concerné plus de 4350000 soldats, plus de 120000 ayant été tués et 250000 blessés.
Le 10 juillet 1917, la 1ère division d'infanterie américaine, surnommée The Big Red One, arrive dans le secteur de Gondrecourt-le-Château, dans un camp d'entraînement, et est la toute première unité américaine engagée sur le sol français.

On July 10, 1917, the 1st American Infantry Division, nicknamed The Big Red One, arrived in the Gondrecourt-le-Château sector, in a training camp, and was the first US unit to be deployed on French soil.
