Merci beaucoup Salvatore pour cette jolie enveloppe illustrée, envoyée le 18 septembre 2017 de la Cité du Vatican, affranchie avec la série EUROPA (2 timbres) émise le 4 mai 2017, consacrée cette année au thème des châteaux !
Ces 2 timbres (tirage : 150000 chacun), imprimés en France par Phil@poste et conçus à partir de photographies de Biagio Tamarazzo, représentent une partie du palais pontifical de Castel Gandolfo (0,95€) et le palais du Belvédère (1,00€) situé dans la Cité du Vatican.
Le palais pontifical de Castel Gandolfo, situé à 20 km au sud-est de Rome, a été construit à partir du début du 13ème siècle, devenant patrimoine inaliénable du Saint-Siège en 1604 et lieu de villégiature d'été des papes à partir de 1626 sous le pontificat d'Urbain VIII.

These two stamps, printed in France by Phil@poste and designed from photographs by Biagio Tamarazzo, are featuring a part of the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo (€ 0.95) and the Palace of the Belvedere (€ 1.00) located in the Vatican City.
The Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo, located 20 km south-east of Rome, was built from the beginning of the 13th century, becoming an inalienable patrimony of the Holy See in 1604 and summer residence of the popes from 1626 under the pontificate of Urban VIII.
Sur ce même timbre, on peut voir l'observatoire astronomique du Vatican ("Specola vaticana") à gauche, une institution scientifique du Saint-Siège confiée aux jésuites, installé dans ce palais de Castel Gandolfo par le pape Pie XI dans les années 1930.
L'autre timbre est consacré au palais du Belvédère, faisant actuellement partie des Musées du Vatican, construit à la fin du 15ème siècle sous le pontificat d'Innocent VIII.
La façade caractéristique de ce palais avec sa crénelure enrichie de décorations de vases, est visible sur ce timbre.
Comme de coutume, les armoiries du Vatican (les clés de Saint-Pierre et la tiare papale) sont incluses sur ces 2 timbres.
On that same stamp, we can see the Vatican observatory telescope ("Specola vaticana") on the left, a scientific institution of the Holy See entrusted to the Jesuits, installed in this palace of Castel Gandolfo by Pope Pius XI in the 1930s.
The other stamp is devoted to the Palace of the Belvedere, currently part of the Vatican Museums, built at the end of the 15th century under the pontificate of Innocent VIII.
The characteristic facade of this palace with its bastions adorned with decorations of vases, is visible on that stamp.
As usual, the coat of arms of the Vatican City (St. Peter's keys and the papal tiara) are included on these two stamps.
