Comme de coutume, le timbre EUROPA 2018 français a été mis en circulation (Premier Jour le 18 mai 2018, vente générale le 22 mai 2018) à Strasbourg et à Paris (Carré d'Encre).
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir le pli Premier Jour de Strasbourg ci-dessous concernant ce timbre (1,20€, tirage : 800016) conçu par Sandrine Chimbaud, ayant pour thème les ponts cette année. Merci beaucoup Olivier !
Ce timbre, assez moche je trouve, est consacré à 2 ponts sur le Rhin, reliant la France à l'Allemagne entre Strasbourg et Kehl, symbolisant la réconciliation franco-allemande et les échanges entre les peuples européens.
As usual, the French EUROPA 2018 stamp was put into circulation (First Day on May 18, 2018, general sale on May 22, 2018) in Strasbourg and Paris (Carré d'Encre).
I was lucky enough to receive the First Day Cover from Strasbourg below regarding that stamp (€ 1.20, print run: 800,016) designed by Sandrine Chimbaud, devoted to the theme of bridges this year. Thank you very much Olivier!
That stamp, rather ugly in my opinion, is dedicated to two bridges over the Rhine river, linking France to Germany between Strasbourg and Kehl, symbolizing Franco-German reconciliation and exchanges between European peoples.
Le pont de l'Europe (à droite sur le timbre), inauguré en 1960, est le seul pont routier (à 4 voies, en béton et acier) reliant Strasbourg à Kehl en Allemagne, villes situées de chaque côté du Rhin.
Ce pont (245 mètres de long), décidé suite à un accord franco-allemand en 1951 au lendemain de la 2ème guerre mondiale, a été construit à l'emplacement d'un pont provisoire, après la destruction du pont précédent en 1940.
La passerelle des Deux Rives (à gauche sur le timbre), ou passerelle Mimram (du nom de son architecte Marc Mimram) a été inaugurée en 2004 pour relier les 2 parties du jardin des Deux Rives, imaginé en 1999 lors des célébrations des 50 ans du Conseil de l'Europe, une des institutions européennes à Strasbourg.
Réservée aux piétons et aux cyclistes, cette passerelle est de type pont à haubans, composée de deux tabliers reliés en son centre par une plateforme qui offre un point de vue inédit sur le Rhin.
The Europe's Bridge (to the right on the stamp), inaugurated in 1960, is the only road bridge (4-lane, concrete and steel) connecting Strasbourg to Kehl in Germany, cities located on each side of the Rhine river.
This bridge (245 meters long), decided following a Franco-German agreement in 1951 after the Second World War, was built on the site of a temporary bridge, after the destruction of the previous bridge in 1940.
The Deux Rives' footbridge (to the left on the stamp), or Mimram footbridge (named after its architect Marc Mimram) was inaugurated in 2004 to connect the two parts of the Deux Rives' garden, imagined in 1999 during the celebrations of the 50 years of the Council of Europe, one of the European institutions in Strasbourg.
Reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, this bridge is a cable-stayed bridge, composed of two decks connected in its center by a platform which offers an original point of view on the Rhine river.
