Le 12 juin 2014, jour d'ouverture de la 20ème édition de la Coupe du monde de football, la poste indienne avait mis en circulation une série (4 timbres) consacrée à cette compétition, organisée du 12 juin au 13 juillet 2014 au Brésil.
Conçus par Kamleshwar Singh, ces 4 timbres ont été également imprimés dans un bloc-feuillet (tirage : 400000) utilisé pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessous, envoyée le 4 mai 2018 depuis la ville de Srinagar, capitale d'été de l'État du Jammu-et-Cachemire. Merci beaucoup Sagar !
Cet état du nord de l'Inde (situé principalement dans les montagnes de l'Himalaya) est l'objet d'un litige territorial entre l'Inde, le Pakistan et la Chine et a fait l'objet de plusieurs guerres.
On June 12, 2014, the opening day of the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup, the Indian Post issued a series (4 stamps) dedicated to this competition, organized from June 12 to July 13, 2014 in Brazil.
Designed by Kamleshwar Singh, these 4 stamps were also printed in a miniature sheet (print run: 400,000) used on the beautiful letter below, sent on May 4, 2018 from the city of Srinagar, the summer capital of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Thank you very much Sagar!
This state of northern India (located mainly in the Himalayan mountains) is the subject of a territorial dispute between India, Pakistan and China and has been the subject of several wars.
A noter cette intéressante oblitération évoquant le lac Dhal et un bateau en bois appelé "shikara" utilisé en particulier sur ce lac pour le transport de personnes.
La poste indienne a ouvert sur ce lac un "bureau de poste flottant", unique au monde a priori, et je suppose que cette oblitération a été appliquée par ce bureau de poste spécial !
Trois timbres de ce bloc-feuillet évoquent des actions de jeu, le 4ème représentant la mascotte de cette Coupe du monde 2014, Fuleco (inspirée d'un tatou en voie de disparition). Le logo de cette compétition est également représenté sur chaque timbre ainsi que dans la marge inférieure.
L'équipe nationale indienne de football ne s'est jamais qualifiée pour une Coupe du monde de football, malgré un bon niveau dans les années 1950 et 1960, avec 2 victoires lors des jeux asiatiques en 1951 et 1962, une 2ème place lors de la Coupe d'Asie organisée en Israël en 1964 et une 4ème place lors des jeux olympiques de 1956 à Melbourne.
To note this interesting cancellation evoking the Dal Lake and a wooden boat called "shikara" used especially on this lake for the transport of people.
The Indian Post has opened on this lake a "floating post office", unique in the world it seems, and I suppose this cancellation was applied by this special post office!
Three stamps of this miniature sheet are featuring football game actions, the 4th representing the mascot of this 2014 FIFA World Cup, Fuleco (inspired by an endangered armadillo).
The logo of this competition is also depicted on each stamp as well as in the lower margin.
The Indian national football team never qualified for a FIFA World Cup, despite a good level in the 1950s and 1960s, with two victories at the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962, a 2nd place at the AFC Asian Cup held in Israel in 1964 and a 4th place at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne.
