"The Garden of Destiny - Likteņdārzs" stamp on FDC from Latvia

"The Garden of Destiny" ("Likteņdārzs"), the Latvian people's gift to Latvia, is in the spotlight on a stamp (€ 0.61 - tariff for a priority domestic letter up to 50g) put into circulation on May 18, 2018.
This Memorial site, imagined a decade ago, takes shape on a small island in the municipality of Koknese (center of the country) on the Daugava River.
As part of Latvia's 100th anniversary celebrations (1st independence in 1918), this site pays tribute to all those who lost their lives, those who suffered from totalitarian regimes, those who were forced to exile, those who suffered based on their political views or religion, during the 20th century.
Imagined with the famous Japanese landscape artist Shunmyo Masuno, this Garden of Destiny also recalls the very strong relationship to the nature of the Latvians.

The amphitheater, one of the main components of this Garden (22 hectares), is represented on that stamp (print run: 80,000) designed by Arvils Feldmanis from an aerial photograph by Gata Baloža.
Thank you very much Vera for this splendid FDC regarding that stamp with cancellation from Koknese (LV-5113)!
This amphitheater or "Silver Sunset" is designed from more than 50,000 stones, all provided and donated by Latvians throughout the country in memory of their missing love ones.
The water canal that encircles the Amphitheater is symbolic of the nation’s tears, and the conviction that the events of the previous century will never be repeated.
To note on this envelope the logo of this 100th anniversary of Latvia above a map of the country.
Vera completed her postage to reach the rate for a non-priority shipment up to 50g sent to Europe (€ 0.85), with 3 stamps being part of the current pretty definitive series dedicated to flowers: forget-me-not (€ 0.04 , issued on May 5, 2015) and snowdrops (€ 0.10 x 2, issued on January 13, 2017).
