Le 9 mai 2017 (journée de l'Europe), comme de coutume, la poste italienne a mis en circulation 2 très jolis timbres EUROPA consacrés cette année au thème des ponts ("ponti" en italien).
Conçus par Claudia Giusto, ces 2 timbres autocollants (tirage : 600000 chacun) montrent des vues de 2 ponts célèbres dans le pays, le pont sur le Metauro à Fermignano et le pont de pierre ("Ponte pietra") sur la rivière Adige à Vérone.
Merci beaucoup Paolo pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 1er jour d'émission de Cuneo (région du Piémont), affranchie avec cette série EUROPA (2 timbres de chaque) !
On May 9, 2017 (Europe Day), as usual, the Italian Post has put into circulation two very nice EUROPA stamps, this year devoted to the theme of bridges ("ponti" in Italian).
Designed by Claudia Giusto, these two self-adhesive stamps (print run: 600,000 each) are featuring views of two famous bridges in the country, the bridge over the Metauro River in Fermignano and the stone bridge ("Ponte pietra") over the Adige River in Verona.
Thank you very much Paolo for this nice letter sent on the first day of issue from Cuneo (Piedmont region), stamped with this EUROPA set (2 copies of each stamp)!
Le pont sur le fleuve Metauro à Fermignano (région des Marches en Italie centrale), représenté sur le timbre à 0,95€, constitue une structure monumentale (datant de l'époque romaine) à trois arcs construits en blocs de pierre, comme pour la tour contiguë qui servait à la défense de la ville.
Au milieu du pont se trouve un édicule et à l'intérieur une Vierge à l'enfant Jésus, une image datant de la seconde moitié du 15ème siècle, voulue par le duc Frédéric de Urbino.
The bridge on the Metauro River in Fermignano (Marche region, in central Italy), represented on the € 0.95 stamp, is a monumental structure (dating from Roman times) with three arches built in blocks of stone, as for the contiguous tower which served for the defense of the city.
In the middle of the bridge is an edicule and inside a Virgin with the baby Jesus, an image dating from the second half of the 15th century, wanted by Federico da Montefeltro, Duke of Urbino.
Le pont de pierre sur la rivière Adige à Vérone (région de Vénétie), sur le timbre à 1,00€, est un ancien pont routier romain, restauré à la fin du 13ème siècle.
Constitué de 5 arches, long de 95 m et large de 14 m, ce pont est constitué de marbre blanc pour la partie romaine originale et de brique rouge pour la partie reconstruite à l'époque des Scaliger.
Quatre des 5 arches, détruites en 1945 lors de la retraite des troupes allemandes, ont été reconstruites avec les pierres récupérées dans le lit du fleuve (fin des travaux en 1959).
Ces 2 timbres EUROPA figurent également sur la jolie lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 31 mai 2018 de Rome. Merci beaucoup Salvatore !
A noter la présence du TAD Premier Jour officiel de Rome "Spazio Filatelia", incluant simplement le logo EUROPA.
The stone bridge on the Adige River in Verona (region of Veneto), on the € 1.00 stamp, is an old Roman road bridge, restored at the end of the 13th century.
Consisting of 5 arches, 95 m long and 14 m wide, this bridge is made of white marble for the original Roman part and red brick for the reconstructed part during the Scaliger era.
Four of the five arches, destroyed in 1945 during the retreat of German troops, were rebuilt with stones recovered from the riverbed (end of works in 1959).
These two EUROPA stamps were also used on the nice cover above sent on May 31, 2018 from Rome. Thank you very much Salvatore!
To note the presence of the official First Day cancellation from Rome "Spazio Filatelia", only including the EUROPA logo.
