Timbre "Jeux olympiques Paris 2024" sur FDC d'Australie
Le 24 juin 2024, la poste australienne a mis en circulation un joli timbre consacré aux jeux olympiques de Paris 2024 (33ème olympiade) organisés du 26 juillet au 11 août 2024.
Ce
timbre (1,50$), conçu par Tim Hancock et imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres, figure en haut à droite sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous (avec TAD de Canberra), envoyé le 22 juillet 2024 depuis Brisbane. Merci beaucoup Teng !
A noter aussi cette oblitération mécanique appliquée le 23 juillet 2024 par le Northgate Mail Centre (NMC, machine 456 - Queensland) et son slogan incitant les habitants à mettre à l'abri leurs chiens pour une distribution sécurisée du courrier ("Secure your dog for safe delivery").
Ce timbre comporte la mention Paris '24, l'emblème du comité olympique australien et une piste d'athlétisme (arborant les couleurs des anneaux olympiques) ayant la forme stylisée de la Tour Eiffel.
Lors de
ces jeux olympiques de Paris, la délégation australienne était composée
de 461 athlètes engagés dans 33 sports différents.
On June 24, 2024, Australia Post released an attractive stamp dedicated to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (33rd Olympiad) held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
This stamp ($1.50), designed by Tim Hancock and printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, is present at the top right on the official FDC below (with postmark from Canberra), sent on July 22, 2024 from Brisbane. Thank you very much Teng!
Also note this mechanical cancellation applied on July 23, 2024 by the Northgate Mail Centre (NMC, machine 456 - Queensland) and its slogan encouraging residents to shelter their dogs for safe mail delivery ("Secure your dog for safe delivery").
This stamp features the words Paris '24, the emblem of the Australian Olympic Committee and an athletics track (showing the colours of the Olympic rings) in the stylised shape of the Eiffel Tower.
At the Paris Olympics, the Australian delegation consisted of 461 athletes competing in 33 different sports.
Avec 53 médailles remportées (dont 18 en or), l'Australie a terminé ces jeux à la 4ème place du classement (derrière les USA, la Chine et le Japon), le meilleur résultat de son histoire. Sur ces 53 médailles, 19 (dont 7 en or) ont été remportées uniquement
dans des épreuves de natation.
Comme
pour les éditions olympiques précédentes, la poste australienne a mis
en circulation des feuillets de 10 timbres honorant les 18 champions
olympiques à Paris.
Avec la France, la Suisse, la Grande-Bretagne et
la Grèce, l'Australie est le seul pays à avoir participé à toutes les
éditions des jeux olympiques d'été de l'ère moderne.
Après Melbourne
en 1956 et Sydney en 2000, l'Australie organisera pour la 3ème fois de
son histoire des jeux olympiques d'été en 2032 à Brisbane.
Teng a utilisé un 2ème timbre (4,55$) faisant partie d'une série initiée le 26 mars 2024 (illustrations : Roger Swainston) émise le 1er juillet 2024, consacrée aux emblèmes marins des 6 états composant l'Australie.
Ce timbre représente un requin-baleine (Rhincodon typus), considéré comme le plus grand poisson vivant actuellement sur Terre, emblème marin de l'Australie-Occidentale depuis le 12 novembre 2013.
With 53 medals won (including 18 gold), Australia finished these games in 4th place in the ranking (behind the USA, China and Japan), the best result in its history. Among these 53 medals, 19 (including 7 gold) were won only in swimming events.
As for previous Olympic editions, the Australian Post has put into circulation sheetlets of 10 stamps honoring the 18 Olympic champions in Paris.
Along with France, Switzerland, Great Britain and Greece, Australia is the only country to have participated in all editions of the Summer Olympic Games in the modern era.

Teng used a 2nd stamp ($4.55) part of a series initiated on March 26, 2024 (illustrations: Roger Swainston) issued on July 1, 2024, dedicated to the marine emblems of the six Australian states.
This stamp represents a whale shark (Rhincodon typus), considered the largest fish currently living on Earth, marine emblem of Western Australia since November 12, 2013.
