On January 11, 2020, she was widely re-elected for a second term (4 years) with 57.1% of the vote and during the legislative elections taking place at the same time, her party, the DPP (Democratic Progressive Party) lost 7 seats but retains an absolute majority in parliament.

On May 20, 2020, the Taiwanese Chunghwa Post put into circulation a souvenir sheet and a series of 4 stamps (design: Aaron Nieh Workshop) dedicated to the inauguration of Tsai Ing-wen and her vice-president, Lai Ching-te.
Thank you very much George for sending these 2 letters, sent on May 25, 2020 from Taipei, relating respectively to the souvenir sheet and the 4 se-tenant stamps of this series!
I really like the souvenir sheet (NT $ 35) reproducing a photograph (by Kris Kang) of the president and the vice-president, with a discreet flag of Taiwan in the left margin and the stylized profiles of Tsai Ing-wen and Lai Ching-te on the stamp (also present on the 4 stamps).
According to the Chunghwa Post, this photograph symbolizes the intentions of the President and the Vice-President to determinedly and fearlessly work to realize their values of pluralism and equality in a transparent manner.
To note also on this envelope, the postmark of the first day of issue and a tourist cachet representing the presidential office building in Taipei.

The 4 se-tenant stamps above, printed in the same sheet of 12 stamps, adopt contemporary aesthetic approaches to transmit the four concepts of blossoming, democracy, coming into place, and direction ...
The 2 stamps on the left (NT $ 8) respectively represent various representations of fireworks exploding in the sky to symbolize the flourishing of democratic and pluralist values in Taiwan and a stylized mailbox, with inside a staircase leading at the presidential office building, symbolizing democracy and unobstructed communication between the government and the people.
The 2 stamps on the right (NT $ 15) represent a golf ball about to enter a hole, expressing the preparedness of the government, acting in the public interest in a professional, determined and dutiful manner and the idea that when a fog lifts, the sky will clear and there will always be a distant lamp providing guidance (although we may be walking down different roads, we are all moving in the same direction).

The Slovak Post put into circulation, on April 30, 2020, an interesting EUROPA stamp illustrating this year the theme of "ancient postal routes" ("Dávne poštové trasy" in Slovak) and in particular the Magna Via ("Great Route" in Latin).
Designed by Ľubomír Paľo, this stamp (€ 1.20, print run: 160,000), printed in sheetlet of 8 stamps, was used on the cover below sent on May 12, 2020 from Rožňavské Bystré. Thank you very much Miloš!
To note that this stamp was also issued in a booklet (print run: 5,000) composed of 6 self-adhesive stamps.
This stamp evokes the portion of this ancient Magna Via on the current territory of Slovakia, between Bratislava and Košice, with postal messengers on horseback in the foreground.

A large part of the Magna Via was an imperial-royal trade and postal route built from the 16th century on the orders of King Ferdinand I, in particular following the capture of the southern territories of the monarchy by Turkish troops.
Completed in 1558, the Magna Via was more than 1,000 kilometers long and was one of the longest postal and transport routes of the time. Over 500 km of road crossed present-day Slovakia, also passing through Liptovský Hrádok.
This route crossed 5 current countries: Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary and the south of Romania.
Originally, postal stations were established on this Magna Via, approximately every 15 km and included facilities which provided catering, accommodation and stables.
In 1999, the Association Magna Via was founded in Slovakia, in order to make national and foreign visitors aware of the cultural and historical value of this great postal route.

"New7Wonders of the World - Petra, Jordan" stamp on cover from Spain

After the Great Wall of China, the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza in Mexico and the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2015, the Taj Mahal in India in 2016, Machu Picchu in Peru in 2017, the Spanish Post has put into circulation on January 14, 2020, a new stamp in its series devoted to the "New7Wonders of the World", this time devoted to Petra, Jordan.
As a reminder, these 7 new wonders of the world were designated between 2000 and 2007 following a public vote organized by Swiss businessman Bernard Weber and the New7Wonders Foundation based in Zurich (in reference to the seven wonders of the ancient world).
To note that UNESCO had at the time immediately said there were no link between this project and the World Heritage List...

This new stamp (permanent rate "C" for an international shipment outside Europe up to 20g - € 1.55 currently, print run: 192,000) issued in sheet of 12 stamps, was used on the nice letter above, sent from Barcelona on May 7, 2020. Thank you very much Josep!
Like the previous five stamps, that stamp has a panoramic shape with the country's flag in the background.
According to UNESCO (this site is inscribed on the World Heritage list since 1985), this site of Petra has been inhabited since prehistoric times and this Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important trade crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world's most famous archaeological sites, the main tourist site of present-day Jordan.
Fallen into oblivion in modern times, the site was rediscovered in 1812 by the Western world thanks to the Swiss explorer Jean Louis Burckhardt.
This stamp features on the right the temple Al Khazneh (the treasure), dating from the 1st century BC, one of the best known monuments of this ancient city of Petra. This building would be a Nabatean tomb whose imposing facade is carved out of sandstone.
The 7th and last new wonder of the world to appear on the next stamp in this series: the Colosseum in Rome, Italy.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp set on FDC from Malta

The Maltese Post has chosen this year May 9, 2020 (Europe Day) to issue its EUROPA series, whose theme chosen by the PostEurop association is devoted to ancient postal routes.
This set of two stamps (print run: 30,800 for the € 0.59 stamp, 33,000 for the € 2.00 stamp) is present on the pretty official illustrated FDC below with postmarks from the postal office located on Castille Square in Valletta, the capital of the country. Thank you very much Silvan!
These two stamps, designed by Miguel Farrugia, were each printed in a numbered sheet composed of 11 stamps + 1 label (including the EUROPA logo, the mention "Ancient postal routes" and a compass rose).
The € 0.59 stamp was also issued in a booklet consisting of 5 stamps + 1 label.
The first stamp (€ 0.59) features a map of part of the Mediterranean Sea with Malta, Sicily and Italy at its heart.

This stamp is particularly dedicated to postal links by sea between Malta and the Italian cities of Pozzallo, Messina and Naples.
In the 17th and 18th century, these connections were carried out by small merchant sailing ships called speronara ("l-Ixprunara" in Maltese), very widespread in trade between Malta and Sicily.
This single mast boat, often fitted with a Latin sail, is shown on the left on this stamp as well as on the First Day cancellation.
On this same stamp, to note this map of Europe (without a part of Turkey ...) including Kosovo, Malta having recognized its independence in 2008 (diplomatic relations established in 2011).
The other stamp (€ 2.00) represents a famous portrait of Francisco de Tassis (1459-1517), one of the organizers of the first European postal service, member of the Thurn und Taxis family.
In 1490, at the request of Emperor Maximilian I, a veritable postal network covering all of his possessions and territories (Spanish Netherlands, Burgundy, Austria and then Spain) was thus established.

"Maine Statehood - 200th anniversary" stamps on FDC from the United States of America

On March 15, 1820, Maine became the 23rd state of the United States of America following the Missouri Compromise, which for a time calmed dissension over the issue of slavery within the Union.
Maine, a new anti-slavery state, was indeed detached from Massachusetts to counterbalance Missouri.
Maine, nicknamed "The Pine Tree State", is located in the extreme northeast of the country, on the Canadian border, at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and is known for its landscapes, and in particular for its rocky and jagged coasts, its low and hilly mountains and its immense forests, as well as for its seafood specialties.
On March 15, 2020, the USPS put into circulation a very nice stamp (permanent domestic rate "Forever" - $ 0.55 currently) dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Maine Statehood.

This stamp is present in two copies on this splendid First Day cover with postmark from Augusta, the capital of this state of Maine. Thank you very much Tristan!
To note that this stamp's official dedication ceremony, which was to take place on March 15, 2020 in Augusta, has been postponed to September 27, 2020 because of the covid-19 epidemic.
This stamp was however put on sale from March 15, 2020, accompanied by this impressive First Day cancellation, representing the Portland Head lighthouse, built in 1791 (the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine) on a cape at the entrance to the main shipping channel in Portland Harbor.
The stamp (print run: 20 million), designed by Derry Noyes, reproduces a work by the American painter Edward Hopper (1882-1967) entitled "Sea at Ogunquit" (1914, Whitney Museum of American Art in New York) and illustrating these Maine's characteristic rocky coasts of Maine.
These coasts have inspired many artists and writers and attract many tourists (more than 36 million each year), tourism being the main economic sector of Maine.
Tristan used a 3rd stamp (10c), issued on March 23, 2017 (originally issued in 2016 in a coil format), depicting two red pears (illustration: John Burgoyne).

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp on FDC from Czech Republic

Thank you very much Bret for sending this official FDC (print run: 3,100) regarding the EUROPA stamp (permanent rate "E" for a shipment up to 50g in Europe, currently 39 CZK) issued on April 22, 2020, devoted this year to theme of the ancient postal routes!
This stamp, designed by Jan Maget, only includes the words "postal routes" ("Poštovní cesty") and evokes postal transport by a a horse-drawn carriage (probably in the 18th or 19th century), with two dominant colors (yellow and blue), symbolizing the current postal colors, in order to create a link between past and current postal services on Czech territory.
I really like the First Day postmark from Prague symbolizing the journey of letters around the globe, the illustration on the left evoking current means of transport used by the Czech Post (van and bicycle).

On the current Czech territory, the development of postal services began with the arrival of the Habsburgs, associated with the election of Ferdinand I as King of Bohemia at the beginning of the 16th century.
Ferdinand I took advantage of the services and the experience of the noble family Thurn und Taxis, who had organised postal transportation in northern Italy and a large part of Europe almost without any competition since the end of the 13th century.
The oldest postal route from Prague to Vienna passed through Tábor and further on to the village of Košice, where it was divided into two branches, a southern branch which led to Linz and an eastern branch which crossed the towns of Jindřichův Hradec and Slavonice further towards Vienna.

Norden 2020 ("Mammals") stamp on cover from Norway

Merci beaucoup Rune !
After stamp issues devoted to Nordic cuisine in 2016 and to Nordic fish in 2018, the 8 postal administrations of the countries or territories of northern Europe (Åland, Finland, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) have chosen the theme of "mammals" to illustrate the joint stamps "Norden" in 2020.
As a reminder, these series have different illustrations for each country, with the "Norden" logo (inspired by a post horn) on stamps or in the margins for the miniature sheets.
This is the stamp issued this year (on April 17) by the Norwegian Post (Posten Norge) which was used to frank this nice letter below, sent on April 28, 2020 from Mandal, the southernmost municipality of Norway. Thank you very much Rune!

This very nice stamp ("Europe 20g" rate - NOK 26 currently, print run: 1,175,000) was printed (in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschedé Security Print) in a booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps, designed by Camilla Kvien Jensen from a photograph by Audun Rikardsen, showing an orca or killer whale (Orcinus orca) under the fishing boat "Fugløyfjord" from Tromsø (northern coast of the country).
Orca ("Spekkhoggar" in Norwegian) is the largest mammal in the dolphin family and the author of this photograph, Audun Rikardsen, published a book on whales following them almost 24 hours a day and in all weather conditions.
The killer whale is one of the main characters in this book and belongs to the top of the ocean food chain.
Most orcas are found in Antarctica, but about 3,000 live off the coast of Norway, in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea.
Orcas are known for their intelligence, which is particularly evident in the way they communicate and hunt.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) souvenir sheet on FDC from Germany

On May 7, 2020, the Deutsche Post put into circulation a very nice EUROPA souvenir sheet illustrating this year the theme of "ancient postal routes" ("Historische Postwege") chosen by PostEurop.
To note that, as in previous years, this stamp was curiously issued at the domestic rate (€ 0.80 for a standard shipment up to 20g).
Designed by Michael Kunter, the stamp on this souvenir sheet represents a postal messenger on horseback, with his horn slung over the shoulder, at the time of the postal network set up in Europe in the 16th century, under the impulse of the noble German family Thurn und Taxis.
Thank you very much Jens for this splendid First Day cover regarding this souvenir sheet, with postmark (postal horn) from Berlin!
In central Europe, the establishment of postal routes between the Tyrolean residences (Innsbruck) and the newly acquired Burgundian areas (Mechelen, Brussels) of the Habsburgs is considered to be the beginning of the post. Emperor Maximilian I then commissioned the Italian Franz Tassis in 1490 to organize a regular postal service.

The Taxis family, as it will be called later, became rich and known thanks to the transport of letters for the nobility and the trade. The distance between the post offices and the change of horse corresponded to approximately two hours of riding and the postal routes took the existing trade routes.
However, postal transport by the "Taxissche Reichspost" was not uncontested and certain imperial cities (Cologne, Frankfurt, Nuremberg) began to organize competing routes.
The margins of this souvenir sheet evoke cities and postal routes set up in 1627 by the postmaster of Frankfurt (and organizer of the imperial post) Johann von den Birghden (1582-1645), and in particular the connections with the current neighboring countries, Switzerland and Austria.
Johann von den Birghden was the founder of the first postal newspaper and was the first to print posters with all routes and prices.
Old representations of the main cities of this network (Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Rheinhausen in Germany, Basel in Switzerland, Vienna in Austria) are featured on this souvenir sheet, as well as the different routes in the lower margin.
The EUROPA series issued this year by the Swiss Post evokes one of these same postal routes, between Rheinhausen and Mantua, via Switzerland.
Jens completed his postage with one stamp (€ 0.30, issued on January 2, 2020) as part of the ongoing definitive "flowers" series (started in 2005), a daylily here, to reach the rate in force for a shipment in Europe (€ 1.10) up to 20g.

"2020 International Year of Plant Health" stamp on cover from Switzerland

The United Nations (in collaboration with FAO) declared 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH), an opportunity to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development.
According to the FAO, plants make up 80% of the food we eat and produce 98% of the oxygen we breathe. Yet, they are under increasing threat from pests and diseases.
This is what the Swiss Post wanted to illustrate on its stamp, issued on March 5, 2020, devoted to this IYPH, representing an invasive species (threatening in particular fruit trees and vines), the Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica), observed for the first time in 2017 on the border between Switzerland and Italy.
This stamp (0.85 CHF), designed by Angelo Boog and printed in France by Cartor Security Printing (in sheet of 20 stamps), is present in the center on this nice letter sent on May 20, 2020 from Geneva. Thank you very much Jürgen!

To note this interesting postmark (Geneva 1) depicting the facade of the main post office, located Mont-Blanc street, built between 1889 and 1892 by Geneva architects John and Marc Camoletti.
This building was featured on one of the two EUROPA stamps issued in 1990 (postal buildings).
This stamp does not mention this IYPH, included on the other hand in certain places of the external margin of the sheet ...
Jürgen completed his postage in order to reach the rate in force for a priority shipment in Europe up to 20g (1.50 CHF) with two other stamps including one (0.50 CHF), issued on February 11, 1986 to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Sempach (extract from a map dating from 1698).
This battle took place on July 9, 1386, opposing the troops of the Duchy of Austria led by Leopold III of Habsburg and those of Lucerne, and is considered as one of the major battles allowing the nascent Swiss Confederation to overcome the claims of the Habsburgs.
The last stamp (0.15 CHF) is part of a series of 6 self-adhesive definitive stamps issued between 2003 and 2005, dedicated to "Swiss design classics". This stamp was issued on December 30, 2003 and features the Rex vegetable peeler, devised in 1947 by Alfred Neweczeral and still manufactured today by his company Zena SA.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp on FDC from Austria

On May 8, 2020, the Austrian Post put into circulation its EUROPA stamp (€ 1.00, print run: 215,000) devoted this year to the theme of the ancient postal routes ("Historische Postrouten").
This stamp, designed by David Gruber and printed in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschedé Stamps B.V., is present on this pretty First Day cover, with cancellation (postal horn) from Deutschlandsberg (Styria, south-east of the country). Thank you very much Edna!
I do not know exactly why this town of Deutschlandsberg was chosen for this First Day, maybe a link with an ancient postal route set up by the famous Thurn und Taxis family, mentioned on this stamp?

This stamp reproduces one of the illustrations taken from a "Map of Imperial and Royal Provincial Capital Innsbruck and surroundings", dating from the 19th century, representing in particular the Fugger-Taxis Palace in Innsbruck.
This baroque palace was built from 1679 by Hans Otto Fugger von Kirchberg-Weißenhorn from plans by Johann Martin Gumpp the Elder.
In 1784 the building was sold to Joseph Sebastian von Thurn and Taxis, the postmaster, who used it not only as a residence, but also as a post office.
The German Thurn and Taxis family indeed ran an important postal service in Europe from the 16th century onwards and Innsbruck was an important stopover on this postal network, with routes going to Belgium, Vienna and Italy.
This palace has belonged to the Land of Tyrol since 1905 (it ceased to be a postal office in 1908) and it now houses state administration offices and a gallery of contemporary art.

EUROPA 2019 (National birds) stamp set on cover from Azerbaijan

A big thank you Mahir for this very nice letter sent on April 30, 2020 from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, stamped with the complete EUROPA series (2 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet), issued on September 27, 2019, dedicated this year to national birds!
Unless I am mistaken, Azerbaijan has been issuing EUROPA stamps since 1998 while the country is still not officially a member of the European postal organization PostEurop even though the country participates each year in the selection to designate the best EUROPA stamp (Online public vote) ...
The two isolated stamps (0.5 manat and 0.6 manat, print run: 200,000 each), each printed (in France by Cartor Security Printing) in sheetlets of 10 stamps as well as in a booklet of 8 stamps (4 of each, imperforated on one side), represent respectively a common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus) and a choukar partridge (Alectoris chukar).

To note a curiosity about this series: the stamp "common rosefinch" (0.5 manat) includes the name of the bird in Azeri and English while the other stamp and the souvenir sheet include the names in Azeri and Latin ...
Another curiosity, another species of partridge, the Caspian snowcock (Tetraogallus caspius), is considered as the national bird in Azerbaijan, strange therefore that it does not appear on this series ...
The souvenir sheet (1.5 manat, print run: 40,000) is devoted to the Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops), Azerbaijan being part of its vast nesting area (between Western Europe and China).
I really like this series, very colorful and different from those issued by other countries, created jointly by artist Orkhan Garayev and graphic designer Anar Mustafayev.
371 bird species (9 of which are rare or accidental) have been identified in Azerbaijan.

"King Philippe's 60th birthday" stamp on FDC from Belgium

Philippe (Filip in Dutch), born in 1960 at the Belvedere Castle in Brussels, has been, since July 21, 2013, the 7th King of the Belgians.
Eldest son of King Albert II and Queen Paola, he indeed became King in 2013 by taking an oath before the united chambers, in Dutch, French and German, after his father's abdication.
Philippe married in 1999 Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz, and the couple lives in the castle of Laeken with their 4 children: the crown princess Élisabeth (born in 2001) who will probably become the 1st Queen of the Belgians, prince Gabriel, prince Emmanuel and princess Eleonore.
On March 16, 2020, the Belgian Post bpost put into circulation a stamp dedicated to King Philippe's 60th birthday.

This stamp (domestic rate"1" normalized NON PRIOR between 0 and 50g - € 0.98 currently from 10 stamps purchased, € 1.01 per unit), printed in a sheetlet composed of 10 stamps (print run: 33,703 sheetlets), is present on the First Day cover above, with postmarks from Brussels. Thank you very much Johan!
Designed by Myriam Voz from a photograph of the Royal Palace, this square-shaped stamp (rather unusual in Belgium for a "royal" stamp) appears in 2 vertical bands (5 stamps each) on the sheetlet, with a central margin including 6 other photographs of the sovereign, between 3 and 50 years old.
To note the presence of the King Philippe's monogram (letters F and P) on the cancellation, also present on the Belgian euro coins.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) souvenir sheet on FDC from Latvia

A big thank you Vera for this nice First Day cover (different from the official FDC of the Latvian Post), with postmarks from Riga (LV-1050) concerning the EUROPA series, put into circulation on May 8, 2020, devoted this year to the theme of the ancient postal routes ("senie pasta ceļi" in Latvian)!
Designed by Ludis Danilāns, these two stamps (print run: 104,000 each) correspond respectively to the sending of a letter up to 20g to countries in zone 2 (€ 1.35) and to the sending of a letter up to 20g to countries in zone 3 (€ 1.42).
I do not know exactly how the Latvian Post defined these different zones, France being for example in zone 3 while Indonesia or Benin being in zone 2 ...
These two stamps were each printed in sheetlets of 10 stamps as well as in a numbered souvenir sheet (print run: 4,000), imperforated on one of the vertical sides.

It is the souvenir sheet (No 3790) which was used on this letter, including the EUROPA logo in the upper margin and an ancient map in the background.
I do not know exactly if this map (coast on the Baltic Sea on the left it seems, between Klaipėda , Lithuania and Liepāja) refers to ancient postal routes?
One of these two stamps evokes the delivery of mail by a horseman, with a postal stagecoach in the background, recalling the first postal networks set up in Europe from the 17th century.
The other stamp features the delivery of post by bicycle - although the use of bicycles in the postal sector started more than 100 years ago, this way of delivery also enjoys popularity among postmen today (and dogs running after them!).

"End of WWII" miniature sheet on FDC from the United Kingdom

The act of capitulation and surrender of the German army was signed on May 7, 1945 in Reims in a room of the Technical and Modern College (headquarters of the Allied troops), almost ending the 2nd World War (Japan capitulated on August 14, 1945, after the terrible atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki).
This act in Reims, purely military, infuriated Stalin who wanted that Germany capitulated in Berlin, conquered by the Red Army. A second act was thus signed in Berlin on the night of 8 to 9 May 1945 ...
On May 8, 2020, the Royal Mail put into circulation a very nice series (8 stamps + 1 miniature sheet) dedicated to the end of this 2nd World War.
The miniature sheet (design: hat-trick design) is particularly focused on memorials honoring the soldiers and women who gave their lives to serve their country, as well as the victims of the Holocaust.

Thank you very much David for sending this splendid official FDC regarding the miniature sheet "In Remembrance" of this series, with "1939-1945" postmarks from London.
The 1st stamp (1st Local - £ 0.76) pays tribute to the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis during the Shoah, through this "Hall of Names" at the Yad Vashem Memorial in Jerusalem.
The following stamp (£ 1.63) evokes the Plymouth Naval Memorial (1924, architect: Robert Lorimer) paying tribute to the members of the Royal Navy who died during the two world wars.
The stamp in the lower left (1st Local - £ 0.76) represents the Air Forces Memorial, located since 1953 in Runnymede (architect: Edward Maufe), paying tribute to the airmen of the British Empire air forces who died during the 2nd world war and who have no known grave.
The last stamp (£ 1.63) is dedicated to the Taukkyan war cemetery, located 25 km north of Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar (Burma).
This cemetery, established in 1951, mainly concerns the Allied soldiers of the British Commonwealth who died in combat in Burma during the 2nd World War.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamps on FDCs from Liechtenstein

Thank you very much Vural for these two First Day covers ("postal horn" postmark from Vaduz) franked respectively with one of the two stamps of the EUROPA series, issued on March 2, 2020, devoted this year to the theme of "ancient postal routes" ("alte Postrouten" in German).
These two stamps (CHF 1.50, print run: 42,000), designed by René Wolfinger, were printed (in France by Cartor Security Printing) in the same sheetlet composed of 4 stamps (2 pairs).
Vural kept a part of the margins of this sheetlet on these two envelopes, such as the one below, including the name of the country (Principality of Liechtenstein) and the title of this series, "Botenpost" ("Post Messenger").

I really like the graphic style of these two stamps, reminiscent of old engravings, with the presence of the nominal value inside a sort of sun and the presence of a postal horn in yellow, filigree in the lower part.
These two stamps are featuring postal means of transport, a stagecoach and a postman on horseback, used in particular by the "Lindau Messenger" ("Lindauer Bote" in German), this mail, goods and passengers transport service operated between the 14th century and the early 19th century, between the German city of Lindau, on the shores of Lake Constance, and Milan in Italy.
One of the five legs of the journey led this Lindau Messenger on his way from Feldkirch, Austria southwards through present-day Liechtenstein, which he left again at the Luziensteig in Balzers towards Chur, Switzerland.

I suppose that it is about an old view of the castle of Balzers which appears in the background on the right on the 2nd stamp above, the margin evoking Lindau and Lake Constance, point of departure of this Lindau Messenger.
We see in particular the Lindau lighthouse (the southernmost lighthouse in Germany), built between 1853 and 1856 (33 meters high) at the western entrance to the port of Lindau, facing a sculpture representing the Bavarian Lion.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) m/s on cover from Norway

On April 17, 2020, the Norwegian Post Posten put into circulation a splendid miniature sheet as part of the EUROPA stamp issues, on the theme of "ancient postal routes" ("Gamle postvegar" in Norwegian) this year.
This miniature sheet ("Europe 20g" rate - NOK 26 currently, print run: 70,000), designed by Jørn O. Jøntvedt from a photograph by Sverre Hjørnevik and printed in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschedé Security Print, was used on this letter sent on April 28, 2020 from Mandal, the southernmost municipality in Norway. Thank you very much Rune!
To illustrate this theme of the ancient postal routes, Posten chose an incredible site called "Vindhellavegen" located in the town of Lærdal.

This road, part of the postal route between Christiania (Oslo) and Bergen around the middle of the 18th century, was a "Very hazardous Road, passing Cliffs and Valleys, where it was not possible to ride, but where the Postal Farmers had to carry the Mailbags on their Backs" ...
In 1793, the road was finally improved and Kongevegen was the first road between the east and the west of the country. In the 1840s, the road administration built a new route for horses and carts on high walls through the pass, and they added an additional curve to reduce the incline.
Its narrow curves with a sharp incline have made Vindhellavegen one of the most beautiful road-related cultural heritage sites in Norway.

"2020 International Year of Plant Health" stamp on cover from Luxembourg

The United Nations (in collaboration with FAO) declared 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH), an opportunity to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development.
According to the FAO, plants make up 80% of the food we eat and produce 98% of the oxygen we breathe. Yet, they are under constant and increasing threat from pests and diseases (up to 40% of the world's food crops are destroyed each year).
This theme will be illustrated this year on stamps (Switzerland, Luxembourg, Moldova, United Nations, Vatican City, Latvia, Portugal, Turkey, Serbia, Italy, Tunisia ...), special cancellations (Moldova), ATM stamps (Spain) or € 2.00 commemorative coins (Belgium).

On March 10, 2020, the Luxembourg Post put into circulation a stamp (€ 1.05, design: David Carpentier), printed in sheetlet of 10 stamps (in Belgium by Bpost Stamps Factory), used on this nice letter sent on May 11, 2020 from the city of Luxembourg. Thank you very much Dimitri!
To note this mechanical cancellation (valid from April 7 to May 11, 2020) encouraging the public to support the Luxembourg Red Cross, with its slogan "Mënschen hëllefen" ("Helping people") in Luxembourgish.
A plant protected by two hands is symbolized on this stamp which does not include the official logo of this International Year of Plant Health ...
In Luxembourg, a check on imports (flowers, fruits, seeds) is carried out at Luxembourg-Findel airport to check whether they contain new foreign parasites.
