La poste française avait déjà émis à 2 reprises des timbres en l'honneur d'Édith Piaf, en 1999 (dans une série de 6 timbres consacrés à la chanson française) et en 2012 (avec Miles Davis dans une émission commune avec les USA).
Cela explique sans doute pourquoi un 3ème timbre commémoratif (faisant partie du programme philatélique officiel) n'a pas été émis cette année pour commémorer le 100ème anniversaire de la naissance d'une des chanteuses françaises les plus connues dans le monde.
Un collector (prix de vente : 10€, tirage inconnu) composé de 10 timbres identiques a toutefois été mis en circulation uniquement au Carré d'Encre à Paris le 19 décembre 2015, date anniversaire de la naissance d'Édith Piaf (1915-1963).
The French Post had already issued two stamps in the past to pay tribute to Edith Piaf, in 1999 (in a series of 6 stamps dedicated to the French song) and 2012 (with Miles Davis in a joint issue with the USA).
This probably explains why a third commemorative stamp (being part of the official philatelic program) has not been issued this year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of most famous French singers in the world.
A collector (selling price : € 10, unknown print run) composed of 10 identical stamps was however put into circulation, only in Paris at the "Carré d'Encre" on December 19, 2015, the anniversary day of the birth of Edith Piaf (1915-1963).
Un très grand merci Joël pour ce pli spécial envoyé ce jour-là du Carré d'Encre avec un exemplaire de ce timbre autocollant de type MonTimbraMoi ("Lettre Prioritaire 20g", 0,80€ actuellement) et le TAD spécial associé (auteur inconnu...) !
Je reste perplexe concernant le choix de la photographie reproduite sur ce timbre, montrant Édith Piaf enfant, non reconnaissable, sans mention de son nom mais uniquement l'indication "100 ans" à droite...
L'image d'Édith Piaf est indissociablement liée à sa célèbre petite robe noire qu'elle a toujours refusé de changer lorsqu'elle était sur scène.
La chanteuse tenait à ce costume de scène pour sa sobriété et sa simplicité, souhaitant que son apparence ne distraie pas l'attention des spectateurs...
A noter que la Hongrie (timbre) et la Russie (entier postal) ont également commémoré cet anniversaire de la naissance d'Édith Piaf en 2015.
A very big thank you Joël for this special cover sent that day from the "Carré d'Encre" with a copy of this self-adhesive stamp (type "MonTimbraMoi", rate "Priority Letter 20g", currently € 0.80) and the associated special postmark (unknown designer...) !
I remain perplexed about the choice of the photograph reproduced on that stamp, showing Edith Piaf as a child, unrecognizable, without mention of her name but only the mention "100 years" to the right...
The image of Edith Piaf is inextricably linked to her famous little black dress she has always refused to change when she was on stage.
The singer was attached to that black dress for its sobriety and simplicity, then hoping that her appearance did not distract the attention of the audience...
To note that Hungary (stamp) and Russia (postal stationary) also commemorated the anniversary of the birth of Edith Piaf in 2015.
