Comme de coutume, la poste hongroise a mis en circulation, le 9 mai 2019 (Journée de l'Europe), sa série de 2 timbres EUROPA sous forme de bloc-feuillet incluant 4 timbres (2 de chaque), illustrant cette année le thème des oiseaux nationaux ("nemzeti madarak" en hongrois).
Conçu par Ágnes Berta, ce bloc-feuillet (tirage : 40000, 70000 l'année dernière...) a été utilisé pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessous envoyée en recommandé le 17 juillet 2019 depuis la ville de Szombathely (ouest du pays, près de la frontière autrichienne). Merci beaucoup John !
La valeur faciale de ces 2 petits timbres (400 HUF) correspond à l'envoi d'une lettre standard non prioritaire (ou d'une carte postale) jusqu'à 20g vers l'Europe.
Ces 2 timbres représentent deux espèces d'oiseaux migrateurs et grégaires, spécialement protégées, la cigogne blanche (Ciconia ciconia) et la grande aigrette (Ardea alba).
As usual, the Hungarian Post has put into circulation, on May 9, 2019 (the Europe Day), its series of two EUROPA stamps in the form of a miniature sheet including 4 stamps (2 of each), illustrating this year the theme of national birds ("nemzeti madarak" in Hungarian).
Designed by Ágnes Berta, this miniature sheet (print run: 40,000, 70,000 last year ...) was used to stamp the beautiful letter below sent by registered mail on July 17, 2019 from the city of Szombathely (west of the country, near the Austrian border). Thank you very much John!
The nominal value of these two small stamps (HUF 400) corresponds to the sending of a non-priority standard letter (or a postcard) up to 20g to Europe.
These two stamps are featuring two species of migrant and gregarious birds, specially protected, the white stork (Ciconia ciconia) and the great egret (Ardea alba).
La cigogne blanche vole en Afrique en hiver sur plusieurs milliers de kilomètres et réapparaît dans le bassin des Carpates à la fin du mois de mars.
Cet oiseau a également été choisi sur des timbres EUROPA 2019 émis par la Lituanie, le Belarus, l'Ukraine et la Moldavie.
La grande aigrette, de la famille des hérons, niche principalement en Hongrie dans les roselières et les forêts inondables.
Le faucon sacre (Falco cherrug) est traditionnellement considéré comme l'oiseau national de la Hongrie (de la Mongolie également depuis 2012).
Le Turul, l'oiseau mythologique (mi aigle, mi faucon) le plus important du mythe de l'origine des Magyars, était en effet probablement un faucon sacre ("kerecsensólyom").
Un faucon sacre figure donc logiquement dans la marge de ce bloc-feuillet à droite, ainsi que des hirondelles rustiques (Hirundo rustica) et une grande outarde (Otis tarda).

This bird was also featured on EUROPA 2019 stamps issued by Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova.

The saker falcon (Falco cherrug) is traditionally considered as the national bird of Hungary (of Mongolia also since 2012).
The Turul, the mythological bird (half eagle, half falcon) the most important of the myth of the origin of the Magyars, was indeed probably a saker falcon ("kerecsensólyom").
A saker falcon is therefore logically featured in the margin of this miniature sheet to the right, as well as barn swallows (Hirundo rustica) and a great bustard (Otis tarda).
