Sauf erreur de ma part, la poste vaticane est la seule administration postale à avoir choisi de représenter des oiseaux très courants dans nos villes (peut-être avec le merle suédois...) sur sa série EUROPA 2019 dont le thème est consacré cette année aux "oiseaux nationaux" ("uccelli nazionali" en italien).
Conçus par l'artiste et médailliste italienne Daniela Fusco (née en 1969), ces 2 timbres (tirage : 60000 chacun), imprimés à Malte par Printex, figurent sur ce splendide pli Premier Jour du 19 mars 2019. Merci beaucoup Salvatore !
Unless I am mistaken, the Vatican Post is the only postal administration to have chosen to represent very common birds in our cities (maybe with the Swedish blackbird ...) on its EUROPA 2019 stamp set whose theme is devoted this year to "national birds" ("uccelli nazionali" in Italian).
Designed by the Italian artist and medalist Daniela Fusco (born in 1969), these two stamps (print run: 60,000 each), printed in Malta by Printex, are present on this beautiful First Day Cover of March 19, 2019. Thank you very much Salvatore!
Le timbre à gauche (1,10€) représente un canard colvert mâle (Anas platyrhynchos) en vol devant une des 2 fontaines situées de part et d'autre de l'obélisque de la place Saint-Pierre.
Identiques (arborant chacune les blasons des papes Paul V et Clément X), elles ont été conçues respectivement vers 1614 par Carlo Maderno (fontaine "Gregoriana") et en en 1677 par Carlo Fontana (fontaine "Clementina").
L'autre timbre (1,15€) représente un pigeon domestique (Columba livia domestica) posé sur une sculpture en pierre représentant les armoiries de la Cité du Vatican (tiare papale et clés de Saint-Pierre).
The stamp on the left (€ 1.10) is depciting a male mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) flying in front of one of the two fountains located on either side of the obelisk of Saint Peter's Square.
Identical (each bearing the blazons of Popes Paul V and Clement X), they were designed respectively around 1614 by Carlo Maderno (fountain "Gregoriana") and in 1677 by Carlo Fontana (fountain "Clementina").
The other stamp (€ 1.15) is featuring a common pigeon (Columba livia domestica) on a stone sculpture representing the coat of arms of the Vatican City (papal tiara and crossed keys of St. Peter).
