L'Égypte a finalement remplacé le Cameroun pour l'organisation de la 32ème édition de la Coupe d'Afrique des nations de football, du 21 juin au 19 juillet 2019.
Organisée en général tous les 2 ans (années impaires), cette compétition (1ère édition en 1957) regroupait pour la 1ère fois cette année 24 équipes dont l'Algérie, vainqueur (1-0 en finale contre le Sénégal) pour la 2ème fois de son histoire, après 1990 à domicile.
L'Égypte est le pays ayant remporté le plus de fois (7 fois) cette Coupe d'Afrique, devant le Cameroun (5 fois) et le Ghana (4 fois).
Le 17 juin 2019 (vente générale), la poste algérienne a mis en circulation un timbre rond (25 dinars, conception : Zakaria Morsli) consacré à cette compétition, présent en 3 exemplaires sur ce joli FDC envoyé le 15 juin 2019 depuis Jijel. Merci beaucoup Zine !
Un timbre rond avait déjà été émis en 2008 pour le 50ème anniversaire de la création de l'équipe de football du FLN.

Ce timbre est peu lisible à mon goût, avec ce joueur (reprise de volée) arborant les couleurs de l'Algérie (vert et blanc) dans la partie supérieure, le centre représentant le continent africain sur fond de drapeau égyptien (une flèche indiquant la position de l'Égypte).
A noter cette mention "Algeria" très discrète (en haut à gauche) et ces 24 éléments décoratifs bleus symbolisant les équipes participantes.
Sauf erreur, l'Algérie n'avait jusqu'à présent émis qu'un seul timbre consacré à cette compétition, en 1990 à domicile.
De nombreux algériens (philatélistes ou non) ont été surpris qu'Algérie Poste émette un timbre évoquant une Coupe d'Afrique des nations organisée en Égypte, ce pays rappelant de mauvais souvenirs à l'équipe nationale algérienne...
En novembre 2009, les 2 pays disputaient un match décisif au Caire pour se qualifier pour la Coupe du monde de football 2010. Le bus transportant les joueurs algériens a été caillassé et de nombreux joueurs blessés, et le match s'est déroulé dans une ambiance hostile et surchauffée...
This stamp is not very readable in my opinion, with this player (volley) bearing the (green and white) colors of Algeria in the top part, the center representing the African continent on the background of Egyptian flag (an arrow indicating the position of Egypt).
To note this very discreet mention "Algeria" (top left) and these 24 blue decorative elements symbolizing the participating teams.
Unless I am mistaken, Algeria has so far issued only one stamp dedicated to this competition, in 1990 at home.
Many Algerians (philatelists or not) were surprised that Algeria Post issued a stamp evoking an African Cup of Nations held in Egypt, a country reminiscent of bad memories to the Algerian national team ...
In November 2009, the two countries were playing a decisive match in Cairo to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The bus carrying the Algerian players was stoned and many players injured, and the match took place in a hostile and overheated atmosphere ...
