Série "150 ans de la ville de Taiping" sur FDCs de Malaisie
Taiping (200000 habitants environ) est la seconde ville de l'état de Perak. Située sur la plaine côtière à l'ouest des monts Bintang, elle a été fondée comme un établissement minier chinois dans le district de Larut, alors qu'une exploitation à large échelle d'étain se développe à partir des années 1840.
Son importance en tant que centre minier décrut et la production cessa, l'agriculture et le caoutchouc, l'industrie manufacturière et le tourisme sont devenus les bases de l’économie.
Peu après sa fondation officielle en 1874, Taiping devient la capitale de l'état de Perak de 1876 à 1937, après Kuala Kangsar mais est remplacée par Ipoh en 1937 ce qui entraîne un déclin relatif.
Le 20 janvier 2024, la poste malaisienne a mis en circulation une intéressante série (3 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) consacrée au 150ème anniversaire de cette ville de Taiping ("Ulang Tahun Ke-150 Bandar Taiping" en malais).
Taiping (approximately 200,000 inhabitants) is the second city in the state of Perak. Situated on the coastal plain west of the Bintang Mountains, it was founded as a Chinese mining settlement in the Larut district, as large-scale tin mining developed from the 1840s.
Its importance as a mining center declined and production ceased, agriculture and rubber, manufacturing and tourism became the bases of the economy.
Shortly after its official founding in 1874, Taiping became the capital of the state of Perak from 1876 to 1937, after Kuala Kangsar but was replaced by Ipoh in 1937 which led to relative decline.
On January 20, 2024, the Malaysian Post put into circulation an interesting series (3 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) dedicated to the 150th anniversary of this city of Taiping ("Ulang Tahun Ke-150 Bandar Taiping" in Malay).

A noter sur cette enveloppe un 2ème cachet mentionnant qu'une exposition philatélique ("Pameran Setem") était organisée du 19 au 21 janvier 2024 à la galerie municipale de Taiping, à l'occasion de ce 150ème anniversaire.
Ce bloc-feuillet illustre un des lieux emblématiques de cette ville de Taiping, ayant inspiré le logo de ce 150ème anniversaire, la promenade des arbres à pluie, un sentier de 650 mètres longeant les jardins du lac.
Samanea Saman est le nom scientifique des espèces d'arbres à pluie qui bordent ce chemin et lui donnent son nom. Certains arbres ont désormais plus de 120 ans et sont devenus une image emblématique de Taiping. Un arbre en particulier est très populaire sur internet lorsque vous recherchez des images de Taiping ou des jardins du lac...

This souvenir sheet illustrates one of the emblematic places of this city of Taiping, having inspired the logo of this 150th anniversary, the rain tree walk, a 650 meter path along the Lake Gardens.
Samanea Saman is the scientific name for the rain tree species that line this path and give it its name. Some trees are now over 120 years old and have become an iconic image of Taiping. One tree in particular is very popular on the internet when you search for images of Taiping or Lake Gardens...
Cette promenade des arbres à pluie fait partie des étapes (40 au total) du sentier du patrimoine ("Jejak Warisan"), long de 11,5 km, crée en 2017 par le conseil municipal de Taiping.
L'emblème de ce sentier du patrimoine, inspiré de la Tour de l'Horloge (fin du 19ème siècle), un des autres symboles de la ville, est présent en bas à gauche sur cette enveloppe ci-dessus, concernant les 3 timbres de cette série.
Le bâtiment du conseil municipal de Taiping est également représenté à gauche sur cette enveloppe, le premier timbre (30 sen) étant consacré à Bukit Larut (une autre étape du sentier du patrimoine), un complexe touristique développé par les britanniques dans les années 1880 et constituant l'une des destinations de vacances les plus populaires de Taiping.
Les 2 autres timbres montrent respectivement le grand marché de Taiping (50 sen) et le jardin botanique de Perak (1,50 RM), créé en 2019 (plus de 10000 plantes appartenant à 120 espèces).
This rain tree walk is one of the stages (40 in total) of the heritage trail ("Jejak Warisan"), 11.5 km long, created in 2017 by the Taiping Municipal Council.
The emblem of this heritage trail, inspired by the Clock Tower (end of the 19th century), one of the other symbols of the city, is present at the bottom left on this envelope above, concerning the 3 stamps of this series.
The Taiping Municipal Council building is also pictured on the left on this envelope, with the first stamp (30 sen) dedicated to Bukit Larut (another stage on the heritage trail), a tourist resort developed by the British in the 1880s and constituting one of the most popular holiday destinations in Taiping.
The other two stamps respectively show the Taiping Grand Market (50 sen) and the Perak Botanical Garden (RM1.50), created in 2019 (more than 10,000 plants belonging to 120 species).
