Série "Le couronnement de Sa Majesté le roi Charles III" sur FDC de Jersey
Le couronnement de Charles III et de son épouse Camilla Parker Bowles en tant que roi et reine consort du Royaume-Uni et des autres royaumes du Commonwealth a eu lieu le 6 mai 2023 à Londres, dans l'abbaye de Westminster. Charles III a accédé au trône à la mort de sa mère Élisabeth II, le 8 septembre 2022.
Il s'agissait du premier couronnement d'un monarque britannique à avoir lieu au 21ème siècle, et le 40ème à se tenir à l'abbaye de Westminster depuis celui de Guillaume le Conquérant en 1066.
Le 20 novembre 2023, l'administration postale de Jersey, dépendance de la Couronne britannique et la plus grande des îles Anglo-Normandes, a mis en circulation une série (6 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) consacré à ce couronnement du roi Charles III.
Ces 6 timbres, imprimés (par Cartor Security Printers, avec mentions appliquées avec une encre dorée) chacun en feuillet de 10 timbres, figurent sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous.
The coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles as king and queen consort of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms took place on May 6, 2023 in London, at Westminster Abbey. Charles III acceded to the throne upon the death of his mother Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022.
It was the first coronation of a British monarch to take place in the 21st century, and the 40th to be held at Westminster Abbey since that of William the Conqueror in 1066.
On November 20, 2023, the postal administration of Jersey, a dependency of the British Crown and the largest of the Channel Islands, put into circulation a series (6 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) dedicated to this coronation of King Charles III.
These 6 stamps, printed (by Cartor Security Printers, with mentions applied with gold ink) each in a sheet of 10 stamps, are present on the official FDC below.
La cérémonie commence par l'onction du roi, symbolisant son entrée spirituelle dans la royauté, suivie de son couronnement et son intronisation. Camilla est couronnée (avec la couronne de la reine Mary) lors d'une cérémonie plus courte et plus simple. La famille royale se rend ensuite au palais de Buckingham lors d'une grande procession d'État, et le couple royal apparaît sur le balcon pour saluer les britanniques (2,55£).
Après l'entrée solennelle du couple dans l'abbaye, le roi, assis sur la King Edward's Chair, reçoit l'orbe, surmonté d'une croix, qui est placé dans sa main gauche, puis deux sceptres - le sceptre à la colombe, symbole du commandement militaire et de la bonne gouvernance, et le sceptre à la croix, représentant le pouvoir temporel. L'archevêque de Canterbury finalement dépose sur la tête du roi la couronne de saint Édouard (0,60£, 0,98£).
Le roi Charles III est ensuite coiffé de la couronne impériale d'apparat (0,98£, 1,85£) avant de se rendre au palais de Buckingham.
The ceremony begins with the anointing of the king, symbolizing his spiritual entry into royalty, followed by his coronation and enthronement. Camilla is crowned (with Queen Mary's crown) in a shorter, simpler ceremony. The royal family then travels to Buckingham Palace in a grand state procession, and the royal couple appears on the balcony to greet the British (£2.55).
After the couple's solemn entry into the abbey, the king, seated on King Edward's Chair, receives the orb, surmounted by a cross, which is placed in his left hand, then two scepters - the scepter with dove, symbol of military command and good governance, and the scepter with cross, representing temporal power. The Archbishop of Canterbury finally placed the crown of Saint Edward on the king's head (£0.60, £0.98).
King Charles III is then adorned with the imperial state crown (£0.98, £1.85) before heading to Buckingham Palace.
