Le 24 avril 2019, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation un unique timbre EUROPA (comme de coutume) consacré cette année au thème des "oiseaux nationaux" ("Národní ptáci" en tchèque), en particulier au martin-pêcheur d'Europe.
Ce timbre (tarif permanent "E" pour un envoi prioritaire jusqu'à 50g en Europe - 39 CZK), conçu par Libuše et Jaromír Knotek, figure sur le joli FDC officiel ci-dessous (tirage : 3200) avec TAD de Prague. Merci beaucoup Bret !
Ce timbre montre une vue combinée d'un paysage d'hiver avec deux martins-pêcheurs d'Europe au 1er plan.
On April 24, 2019, the Czech Post issued a unique EUROPA stamp (as usual) devoted this year to the theme of "National birds" ("Národní ptáci" in Czech), to the common kingfisher in particular.
This stamp (permanent tariff "E" for a priority shipment up to 50g in Europe - 39 CZK), designed by Libuše and Jaromír Knotek, is present on the nice official FDC below (print run: 3200) with postmarks from Prague. Thank you very much Bret!
This stamp shows a combined view of a winter landscape with two common kingfishers in the foreground.
Les martins-pêcheurs d'Europe (Alcedo atthis) sont des oiseaux aux couleurs vives, avec une tête et des ailes bleu turquoise et un ventre orange, une bande marron et blanche s'étendant du long bec noir à l'arrière de la tête.
Les martins-pêcheurs, pesant environ 40g et mesurant entre 15 et 17 cm, vivent non seulement en Europe, mais aussi en Asie du Sud et en Afrique du Nord.
Les martins-pêcheurs ont souvent une vie solitaire passée principalement au bord de ruisseaux aux eaux calmes et claires, où ils sont protégés du vent et peuvent attraper des poissons (cet oiseau mange chaque jour son poids en poisson).
Cette espèce est menacée par la destruction des zones humides et la pollution des eaux de surface.
Cet oiseau a également été choisi sur un des timbres EUROPA 2019 émis par Jersey et figurait déjà sur un des timbres tchèque du bloc-feuillet "Réserve de la biosphère de Trebonsko" émis en 2008.
The common kingfishers (Alcedo atthis) are brightly colored birds, with a turquoise blue head and wings and an orange belly, a brown and white band extending from the long dark bill to the back of the head.
Common kingfishers, weighing about 40g and measuring between 15 and 17 cm, live not only in Europe, but also in South Asia and North Africa.
Common kingfishers often have a solitary life spent mainly on the banks of streams with calm and clear waters, where they are protected from the wind and can catch fish (this bird needs to eat its body weight in fish each day).
This species is threatened by the destruction of wetlands and pollution of surface waters.
This bird was also featured on one of the EUROPA 2019 stamps issued by Jersey and was already depicted on one of the Czech stamps of the souvenir sheet "Trebonko Biosphere Reserve" issued in 2008.
