Du 21 au 26 août 2018 a eu lieu à Dublin la 9ème édition de la "Rencontre mondiale des familles", un rassemblement de l'Église catholique qui a lieu tous les trois ans depuis 1994.
Cet événement international majeur rassemble des familles du monde entier pour célébrer, prier et réfléchir sur l'importance capitale du mariage et de la famille en tant que pierre angulaire de nos vies, de la société et de l'Église...
A cette occasion, la poste irlandaise An Post a mis en circulation le 26 juillet 2018, une série de 2 timbres (imprimés en France par Cartor Security Printing), également réunis dans le bloc-feuillet utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 26 avril 2019 depuis "Tír an Iúir", le nom d'un quartier de Dublin où est situé un centre de tri principal, l'autre mention "BÁC" sur le TAD faisant référence au nom gaélique de Dublin ("Baile Átha Cliath").
From 21 to 26 August 2018, the 9th edition of the "World Meeting of Families", a gathering of the Catholic Church that has been held every three years since 1994, took place in Dublin, Ireland.
This major international event brings together families from across the world to celebrate, pray and reflect upon the central importance of marriage and the family as the cornerstone of our lives, of society and of the Church...
On this occasion, the Irish Post "An Post" put into circulation on July 26, 2018, a set of two stamps (printed in France by Cartor Security Printing), also gathered in the souvenir sheet used on the letter below sent on April 26, 2019 from "Tír an Iúir", the name of a district of Dublin where is located a main sorting center, the other mention" BÁC "on the postmark referring to the Gaelic name of Dublin ("Baile Átha Cliath").
Conçus par l'agence Vermillion Design, ces 2 timbres représentent respectivement le pape Francis libérant une colombe (1€, tirage : 122000) et une famille (parents, enfants, grands-parents) marchant sur une plage (1,50€, tirage : 94000).
Cette photographie du pape a été prise le 15 mai 2013 lors d'une audience générale place Saint-Pierre au Vatican.
A noter également ces colombes dans les marges du bloc-feuillet ainsi que des édifices de Dublin, en particulier les clochers de la cathédrale Christ Church et de l'église John's Lane.
Cette Rencontre mondiale des familles avait pour thème "L'Évangile de la famille: la joie pour le monde" et les principaux évènements avaient lieu à la Royal Dublin Society (RDS), au stade de Croke Park et au parc Phoenix.
Le pape François a participé à cette Rencontre les 25 et 26 août 2018, près de 40 ans après la visite du pape Jean-Paul II en Irlande.
A noter que la poste du Vatican n'a curieusement pas émis de timbre en 2018 consacré à cet évènement alors que cela avait été le cas en 2012 (Milan) et 2015 (Philadelphie)...
La 10ème édition de cette Rencontre mondiale des familles aura lieu en 2021 à Rome.
Created by the Vermillion Design agency, these two stamps respectively represent Pope Francis releasing a dove (€ 1.00, print run: 122,000) and a family (parents, children, grandparents) walking on a beach (€ 1.50, print run : 94,000).
This photograph of the Pope was taken on May 15, 2013 during a general audience on St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City.
To note also these doves in the margins of the souvenir sheet as well as buildings in Dublin, especially the bell towers of Christ Church Cathedral and John's Lane Church.
The theme of this World Meeting of Families was "The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the World" and the main events were held at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), Croke Park Stadium and Phoenix Park.
Pope Francis attended this meeting on 25 and 26 August 2018, almost 40 years after the visit of Pope John Paul II to Ireland.
To note that the Vatican Post has curiously not issued any stamp in 2018 dedicated to this event while it was the case in 2012 (Milan) and 2015 (Philadelphia)...
