Comme en 2018 (ponts), la poste moldave a mis en circulation cette année (le 19 avril 2019) une série EUROPA composée de 2 timbres de très grand format (68 x 34 mm), avec prévente dans 2 localités différentes du pays, Soroca (MD-3006) pour le timbre "cigogne blanche" et Orhei (MD-3505) pour le timbre "aigle royal".
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir les 2 plis Premier Jour (tirage : 500 chacun, conception : Lilian Iațco) concernant chacun un de ces 2 timbres EUROPA dont le thème cette année est consacré aux "oiseaux nationaux" ("Păsări naționale" en roumain). Merci beaucoup Nicolae !
Ces 2 très jolis timbres (conception : Vladimir Melnic) ont été imprimés chacun en feuillet de 8 timbres ainsi que dans un carnet (tirage : 6500) composé de 2 feuillets (3 timbres + 1 vignette chacun).
As in 2018 (bridges), the Post of Moldova has put into circulation this year (on April 19, 2019) a EUROPA set composed of two very large size (68 x 34 mm) stamps, with preview sale in two different localities of the country, Soroca (MD-3006) for the "White stork" stamp and Orhei (MD-3505) for the "Golden eagle" stamps.
I was very lucky to receive the two First Day covers (print run: 500 each, design: Lilian Iaţco) concerning each one of these two EUROPA stamps whose theme this year is dedicated to the "National birds" ("Păsări naţionale" in Romanian). Thank you very much Nicolae!
These two beautiful stamps (design: Vladimir Melnic) have been printed each in sheet of 8 stamps as well as in a booklet (print run: 6,500) composed of 2 sheetlets (3 stamps + 1 label each).
Le 1er timbre ci-dessus (11 L, tirage : 51650) est consacré à la cigogne blanche (Ciconia ciconia, "barză albă" ou "cocostîrc" en roumain/moldave), un des symboles de la Moldavie, en particulier lorsqu'elle est représentée avec une grappe de raisin dans le bec, en référence à une ancienne légende.
Cette légende raconte que des cigognes transportant des grappes de raisin dans leur bec ont sauvé des soldats assiégés dans la forteresse de Soroca (d'où ce Premier Jour dans cette ville), qui manquaient alors d'eau et de nourriture. Ils ont ainsi pu repousser une invasion des Tatars.
Cette même légende était illustrée sur un des timbres de la série EUROPA émise en 1997, une cigogne blanche figurant également sur un des timbres de la série "Faune de Moldavie" émise en 2014.
Cet oiseau a également été choisi sur des timbres EUROPA 2019 émis par la Lituanie, le Belarus, l'Ukraine et la Hongrie.
The first stamp above (11 L, print run: 51,650) is devoted to the white stork (Ciconia ciconia, "barză albă" or "cocostîrc" in Romanian / Moldavian), one of the symbols of Moldova, especially when it is represented with a bunch of grapes in the beak, with reference to an ancient legend.
This legend tells that storks holding bunches of grapes in their beak saved besieged soldiers in the fortress of Soroca (hence this First Day in this city), then being short of water and food. They were then able to pevent an invasion of the Tatars.
This same legend was illustrated on one of the stamps of the series EUROPA issued in 1997, a white stork also appearing on one of the stamps of the series "Fauna of Moldova" issued in 2014.
This bird was also featured on EUROPA 2019 stamps issued by Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and Hungary.
Un aigle royal (Aquila chrysaetos, "acvilă de munte" en roumain) est représenté sur le 2ème timbre ci-dessus (11 L, tirage : 51650).
Ce grand rapace, représenté sur les armoiries du pays, est une espèce devenue très rare en Moldavie, observée parfois dans le sud du pays ou dans certaines zones forestières.
Comme 40 autres espèces d'oiseaux, l'aigle royal figure dans la liste des animaux menacés du Livre Rouge de la République de Moldavie.
A l'exception des nombreux timbres représentant cet oiseau stylisé sur les armoiries, il me semble que c'est la 1ère fois que cet oiseau figure sur un timbre de Moldavie.
Cet oiseau a également été choisi sur des timbres EUROPA 2019 émis en Suisse, Liechtenstein, Bosnie-Herzégovine (République serbe) et Roumanie.
A golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos, "acvilă de munte" in Romanian) is depicted on the 2nd stamp above (11 L, print run: 51,650).
This large raptor, represented on the coat of arms of the country, is a species that has become very rare in Moldova, sometimes seen in the south of the country or in certain forest areas.
Like 40 other bird species, the golden eagle is on the list of endangered animals in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova.
With the exception of the many stamps representing this stylized bird on the coat of arms, it seems to me that this is the first time this bird appears on a stamp from Moldova.
This bird has also been chosen to be featured on EUROPA 2019 stamps issued in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Republika Srpska) and Romania.
Nicolae a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer également les 2 cartes postales ci-dessus, représentant respectivement les armoiries de la Moldavie incluant cet aigle royal stylisé (carte n°14/2018, tirage : 1000, conception : Vitalie Leca), créées par Gheorghe Vrabie et des cigognes blanches dans un nid (carte n°10/2015, tirage : 2000, conception : Alexandr Kornienko).
Nicolae was also kind enough to send me the two postcards above, representing respectively the coat of arms of Moldova including this stylized golden eagle (No. 14/2018, print run: 1,000, design: Vitalie Leca), created by Gheorghe Vrabie and white storks in a nest (No. 10/2015, print run: 2,000, design: Alexandr Kornienko).
