Dans le cadre du début de la Saison France-Roumanie 2019, née d'une volonté politique commune, dont le déroulement coïncide avec la Présidence roumaine du Conseil de l'Union européenne et les célébrations des centenaires de la création de la Roumanie moderne (01/12/1918) et de la fin de la 1ère Guerre mondiale, les administrations postales de France et Roumanie ont mis en circulation, le 27 novembre 2018, une 2ème série commune (2 timbres) rendant hommage au Général Berthelot, héros de la 1ère Guerre mondiale, symbole de l'amitié franco-roumaine.
Après la version française, j'ai eu la chance de recevoir ce joli pli Premier Jour avec TAD de Bucarest (bureau postal n° 37), envoyé en recommandé, concernant ces 2 timbres roumains. Merci beaucoup Dorin !
In the context of the start of the 2019 France-Romania Season, born of a common political will, which coincides with the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the celebrations of the centennials of the creation of modern Romania (01/12/1918) and the end of the 1st World War, the postal administrations of France and Romania put into circulation, on November 27, 2018, a second joint series (2 stamps) paying tribute to General Berthelot, hero of the 1st World War, symbol of the Franco-Romanian friendship.
After the French version, I was lucky enough to receive this nice First Day cover with cancellation from Bucharest (postal office No. 37), sent by registered mail, regarding these two Romanian stamps. Thank you very much Dorin!
Romfilatelia a imprimé ces 2 timbres (tirage global : 39514) en feuille de 32 timbres, en feuillet composé de 8 timbres + 1 vignette centrale ainsi que dans un bloc-feuillet incluant les 2 timbres non dentelés (tirage limité : 245 blocs-feuillets).
Deux portraits différents du général français Henri Mathias Berthelot (1861-1931) figurent sur ces 2 timbres avec, dans le fond, le manoir offert par le parlement roumain en 1922 (8,50 L) et le général décorant un groupe d'officiers roumains à Onesti (5 L).
La poste roumaine a intitulé cette série "Le général Berthelot, sur le front roumain", rappelant son rôle de chef de la Mission Militaire Française, un corps expéditionnaire qui avait pour objectif de réorganiser l'armée roumaine, vaincue et en perte de moral après la campagne de l'été et de l'automne 1916.
Désigné "citoyen d’honneur de la Roumanie" en mai 1917 par le parlement, la contribution du général à cette réorganisation a été en particulier observée pendant les glorieuses batailles de Marasti, Marasesti et Oituz au cours de l'été de 1917.
Le général Berthelot a quitté Iasi en mars 1918 pour la France où il prend part à la deuxième bataille de la Marne en juillet 1918 avant de revenir dans les Balkans en automne 1918. Le 1er décembre 1918, le général Berthelot entra à Bucarest avec la famille royale, geste symbolique qui consacrait la victoire de la Roumanie dans la 1ère Guerre mondiale.
Romfilatelia printed these two stamps (overall print run: 39,514) in sheet of 32 stamps, each in sheetlet composed of 8 stamps + 1 central vignette and in a souvenir sheet including the two unperforated stamps (limited edition: 245 souvenir sheets only).
Two different portraits of the French general Henri Mathias Berthelot (1861-1931) are fetaured on these two stamps with, in the background, the mansion offered by the Romanian parliament in 1922 (L 8.50) and the general decorating a group of Romanian officers in Onesti (L 5.00).
The Romanian Post has entitled this series "General Berthelot, on the Romanian Front", recalling his role as head of the French Military Mission, an expeditionary force that aimed to reorganize the Romanian army, defeated and losing morale after the campaign of the summer and fall of 1916.
Appointed "honorary citizen of Romania" in May 1917 by the parliament, the contribution of the general to this reorganization was particularly observed during the glorious battles of Marasti, Marasesti and Oituz during the summer of 1917.
General Berthelot left Iasi in March 1918 for France where he took part in the second battle of the Marne in July 1918 before returning to the Balkans in autumn 1918. On December 1, 1918, General Berthelot entered Bucharest with the family royal, a symbolic gesture that consecrated the victory of Romania in the 1st World War.
