La Via Pontica était une voie romaine qui reliait le Bosphore au Danube et constituait une liaison nord-sud le long de la mer Noire.
Via Pontica est aujourd'hui la 2ème plus grande route de migration des oiseaux qui nichent dans le nord-est de l'Europe et qui volent vers le sud jusqu'en Afrique en hiver.
Chaque printemps et chaque automne, des milliers d'oiseaux parcourent cette route, en particulier au-dessus du littoral bulgare où près de 80% de toutes les cigognes blanches en Europe transitent, ainsi que l'ensemble de la population européenne de pélicans blancs, des milliers de rapaces, d'oiseaux aquatiques et d'oiseaux chanteurs.
Le 1er février 2019, la poste bulgare a mis en circulation une jolie série (4 timbres) conçue par Natalia Alexieva, consacrée à différentes espèces d'oiseaux migrateurs empruntant cette Via Pontica.
Via Pontica was a Roman road that connected the Bosphorus to the Danube and formed a north-south link along the Black Sea.
Via Pontica is today the 2nd largest migratory route for birds nesting in northeastern Europe and flying south to Africa in winter.
Every spring and autumn, thousands of birds roam this route, especially over the Bulgarian coast where nearly 80% of all white storks in Europe transit, as well as the entire European population of white pelicans, thousands of birds of prey, waterfowl and songbirds.
On February 1, 2019, the Bulgarian Post issued a beautiful series (4 stamps) designed by Natalia Alexieva, devoted to different species of migratory birds using this Via Pontica.
Cette série a été déclinée en feuille de 50 timbres (pour chaque timbre) ainsi qu'en feuillet de 8 timbres (2 de chaque) et en bloc-feuillet (réunissant les 4 timbres).
Merci beaucoup Borislav pour l'envoi de ces 2 FDCs officiels concernant respectivement le bloc-feuillet (tirage : 3000) et les 4 timbres (tirage : 4500 pour le timbre à 2 leva, 6500 pour les 3 autres) de cette série, envoyés depuis Sofia le 15 février 2019 !
A noter dans la marge inférieure du bloc-feuillet ci-dessus la présence du logo de la Fondation Via Pontica, une organisation non gouvernementale bulgare œuvrant dans l'intérêt public, créée pour protéger la nature bulgare - conservation des ressources naturelles, changement d'attitude à l'égard des zones protégées et prise de conscience des opportunités, avantages et responsabilités en matière de protection, de conservation et de restauration de la biodiversité bulgare.
This series was declined in sheet of 50 stamps (for each stamp) as well as in a sheetlet of 8 stamps (2 of each) and in a souvenir sheet (bringing together the 4 stamps).
Thank you very much Borislav for sending these 2 official FDCs regarding respectively the souvenir sheet (print run: 3,000) and the 4 stamps (print run: 4,500 for the 2.00 leva stamp, 6,500 for the 3 others) of this series, sent from Sofia on February 15, 2019!
To note in the lower margin of the souvenir sheet above the presence of the logo of the Via Pontica Foundation, a Bulgarian non-governmental organization acting in the public interest, established to protect the Bulgarian nature – conservation of natural resources, changing the attitude towards the protected areas and awareness of the opportunities, benefits and responsibilities towards protection, conservation and restoration of Bulgarian biodiversity.
Les 4 oiseaux à l'honneur sur cette série : le grèbe huppé (Podiceps cristatus - 0,65 leva), l'aigrette garzette (Egretta garzetta - 1,00 leva), le pélican blanc (Pelecanus onocrotalus - 1,50 leva) et le cormoran pygmée (Microcarbo pygmeus - 2,00 leva).
En Bulgarie, des sites aménagés permettent aux ornithologues et aux amateurs d'observer ces oiseaux, en particulier sur les communes de Balchik et Kavarna dans la région de Dobritch (nord-est du pays) où 136 espèces d'oiseaux ont été enregistrées, dont 42 sont inscrites dans le Livre rouge des espèces menacées en Bulgarie.
Cette série constitue un avant-goût de la prochaine série EUROPA planifiée en avril 2019 a priori, dont le thème sera consacré aux oiseaux nationaux !
The 4 birds in the spotlight on this series: the Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus - 0.65 leva), the Little Egret (Egretta garzetta - 1.00 leva), the Great White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus - 1.50 leva) and the Pygmy Cormorant (Microcarbo pygmeus - 2.00 leva).
In Bulgaria, ornithologists and birdwatchers can use some specifically arranged sites, in particular in the towns of Balchik and Kavarna, in the Dobrich region (north-east of the country), where 136 bird species have been recorded, including 42 listed in the Red Book of Threatened Species in Bulgaria.
This series is a kind of preview of the next EUROPA series planned in April 2019, which will focus on national birds!
