37 timbres sur spectaculaire lettre recommandée d'Algérie !

Merci beaucoup Zine pour cette impressionnante lettre envoyée en recommandé le 7 septembre 2021 depuis le village de Bouhanche Beni Ahmed (Jijel) !
Pas moins de 37 timbres ont été utilisés, mis en circulation à partir de 2008 comme ce timbre (15 dinars) émis le 20 décembre 2008 pour commémorer le 50ème anniversaire des relations diplomatiques avec la Chine. Deux autres timbres évoquent aussi ces relations avec la Chine, 55ème anniversaire de ces mêmes relations et 50ème anniversaire de l'installation de la 1ère équipe médicale chinoise en Algérie, émis en 2013.
Difficile d'évoquer tous les autres timbres utilisés ici mais j'aime particulièrement le timbre (38 dinars) émis le 28 mars 2009 dans le cadre de la campagne internationale de protection des pôles et glaciers, le timbre (15 dinars) émis le 4 janvier 2009 à l'occasion des 200 ans de la naissance de Louis Braille ou la série (3 timbres) émise le 18 avril 2009 consacrée à l'artisanat (sandales, broche en argent, gilet).

No less than 37 stamps were used, put into circulation from 2008 such as this stamp (15 dinars) issued on December 20, 2008 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China. Two other stamps also evoke these relations with China, the 55th anniversary of these same relations and the 50th anniversary of the installation of the first Chinese medical team in Algeria, both issued in 2013.
Difficult to evoke all the other stamps used here but I particularly like the stamp (38 dinars) issued on March 28, 2009 as part of the international campaign to protect the poles and glaciers, the stamp (15 dinars) issued on January 4, 2009 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Louis Braille or the series (3 stamps) issued on April 18, 2009 devoted to crafts (sandals, silver brooch, waistcoat).

 

Deux timbres (15 et 30 dinars), émis le 28 octobre 2013, évoquent le 50ème anniversaire du comité olympique algérien, deux autres (15 et 20 dinars), émis le 3 juin 2009, illustrent les jeux méditerranéens organisés cette année-là en Italie à Pescara (voile et équitation).
5 des 6 timbres émis le 5 juillet 2009 dans le cadre du 50ème anniversaire de l'indépendance ont été utilisés en bas à gauche, illustrant les différentes forces de défense du pays.
L'exposition universelle de Milan 2015 est également évoquée à travers 2 timbres (15 et 38 dinars) émis le 22 décembre 2014.
Parmi les autres thèmes : la protection des personnes âgées (2009), la journée nationale des personnes handicapées (2009), la journée mondiale de la poste (2014), les 50 ans de la Cour suprême (2014), le patrimoine islamique - mausolées à Alger et Ghardaia (2009), la prévention routière (2009), les 40 ans de la SONELGAZ (2009), l'enfance (2009), les 100 ans de l'université d'Alger (2009) ou la protection des enfants dans le cyberespace (2009).
A noter enfin que tous ces timbres incluaient encore des mentions en français (et arabe), ce qui n'est plus le cas depuis 2018...

Two stamps (15 and 30 dinars), issued on October 28, 2013, evoke the 50th anniversary of the Algerian Olympic committee, two others (15 and 20 dinars), issued on June 3, 2009, illustrate the Mediterranean games organized that year in Italy in Pescara (sailing and equitation).

5 of the 6 stamps issued on July 5, 2009 as part of the 50th anniversary of independence have been used on the lower left, illustrating the various defense forces of the country.

The Milan 2015 World Exhibition is also present through 2 stamps (15 and 38 dinars) issued on December 22, 2014.

Among the other themes: the protection of the elderly (2009), the national day of the disabled (2009), the world post day (2014), the 50 years of the Supreme Court (2014), the Islamic heritage - mausoleums in Algiers and Ghardaia (2009), road safety (2009), the 40 years of SONELGAZ (2009), childhood (2009), the 100 years of the University of Algiers (2009) or the protection of children in cyberspace (2009).

Finally, it should be noted that all these stamps still included mentions in French (and Arabic), which is no longer the case since 2018 ...

 

"Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers" joint m/s on cover from Curaçao

Bloc-feuillet commun "Protection des pôles et des glaciers" sur lettre de Curaçao 

Le 18 mars 2009 a eu lieu à Santiago le lancement officiel d'une série de timbres émise par la poste chilienne dans le cadre de la campagne internationale "Protégeons les régions polaires et les glaciers", en présence de l'ambassadeur de Finlande, Livo Salmi. Une manifestation similaire avait lieu le même jour à Helsinki pour le lancement du bloc-feuillet finlandais en présence de l'ambassadeur du Chili, Carlos Parra.
Carlos Parra initia cette idée d'une émission commune entre un pays de la région arctique, la Finlande, et un pays proche du continent antarctique, le Chili, visant à sensibiliser le monde sur l'impact du réchauffement climatique sur les zones polaires.
Cette initiative devint un projet concret lors de la visite officielle en Finlande (en mai 2007) de la présidente du Chili. Près de 40 administrations postales, dont la France, se sont joints à cette campagne internationale en émettant en 2009 des timbres ayant en commun un emblème représentant un cristal de glace, conçu par le graphiste finlandais Saku Heinänen. 
On March 18, 2009 took place in Santiago the official launch of a set of stamps issued by the Chilean Post as part of the international campaign "Preserve the polar regions and glaciers", in the presence of the Ambassador of Finland, Livo Salmi. A similar demonstration took place the same day in Helsinki for the launch of the Finnish souvenir sheet, in the presence of the Chilean Ambassador, Carlos Parra.
Carlos Parra initiated this idea of ​​a joint issue between a country in the Arctic region, Finland, and a country close to the Antarctic continent, Chile, aimed at raising awareness of the world on the impact of global warming on the polar zones.

Avec 2 ans de retard, l'administration postale de Curaçao (Cpost International), île des petites Antilles située au large du Vénézuela, un État autonome au sein du Royaume des Pays-Bas depuis 2010, a mis en circulation (le 11 août 2011) un bloc-feuillet consacré à cette campagne ("Preservá e regionnan polar ku nan glèchernan" en papiamento, langue créole des Antilles néerlandaises, parlée à Aruba, Bonaire et Curaçao).
Conçu par Richmond Gijsbertha, ce bloc-feuillet figure sur cette lettre envoyée le 8 octobre 2020, avec TAD rectangulaire "Philately 84" et un cachet (sans mention de lieu ni date) avec mention "Curaçao", incluant le drapeau et une carte de l'île.
Les 2 timbres ronds composant ce bloc-feuillet représentent respectivement ce cristal de glace stylisé (également présent dans la marge inférieure) avec une banquise dans le fond (112c) et l'Antarctique avec le soleil qui brille en arrière-plan (405c). 

With 2 years of delay, the postal administration of Curaçao (Cpost International), an island of the Lesser Antilles located off the coast of Venezuela, a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands since 2010, put into circulation (on August 11, 2011) a souvenir sheet devoted to this campaign ("Preservá e regionnan polar ku nan glèchernan" in Papiamento, the Creole language of the Netherlands Antilles, spoken in Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao).

Designed by Richmond Gijsbertha, this souvenir sheet was used on this letter sent on October 8, 2020, with a rectangular "Philately 84" postmark and a cachet (without mention of place or date) with mention "Curaçao", including the flag and a map of the island. 

The two round stamps making up this souvenir sheet represent respectively this stylized ice crystal (also present in the lower margin) with an ice floe in the background (112c) and Antarctica with the sun shining in the background (405c).

30th anniversary of the Czech Polar Section - Slogan cancellation from Prague

30 ans de la Section polaire tchèque - flamme postale spéciale de Prague

Le 20 juillet 2017, une nouvelle flamme postale a été mise en circulation par le bureau principal de Prague, consacrée au 30ème anniversaire de la création de la "Section polaire tchèque" ("Česká polární sekce") au sein de l'union des philatélistes tchèques (SČF - Svaz českých filatelistů).
Cette section philatélique, fondée en 1987, a pour objectif de soutenir et d'accompagner les collectionneurs tchèques spécialisés dans la philatélie polaire (timbres, marques postales... concernant l'Antarctique et les régions de l'Arctique) et en particulier les expéditions polaires et les bases scientifiques tchèques.
Cette flamme, conçue par Antonín Boháček (président et un des 3 membres fondateurs de cette section), a été appliquée sur la jolie lettre ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Slavek !
On July 20, 2017 a new slogan cancellation was put into circulation by the main post office of Prague 1, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creation of the "Czech Polar Section" ("Česká polární sekce") within the Union of Czech Philatelists (SČF - Svaz českých filatelistů).
This philatelic section, founded in 1987, aims to support and accompany Czech collectors specializing in polar philately (stamps, postal marks... concerning the Antarctic and the Arctic regions) and in particular the Czech polar expeditions and scientific bases.
This cancellation, designed by Antonín Boháček (president and one of the 3 founding members of this section), has been applied on the pretty letter below. Thank you very much Slavek!

Cette flamme montre un collectionneur, avec sa pince et sa loupe, ainsi qu'un chien polaire et une carte du continent Antarctique où la République Tchèque dispose de bases scientifiques (Eco-Nelson en particulier, située dans les îles Shetland du Sud, un archipel au nord de la péninsule Antarctique).
Slavek a utilisé le timbre (35 CZK, émis dans un bloc-feuillet), conçu par Josef Dudek et gravé par Miloš Ondráček, émis le 11 février 2009 dans le cadre de la campagne internationale "Protégeons les régions polaires et les glaciers" initiée cette année-là par les administrations postales du Chili et de Finlande.
Plus de 40 administrations postales ont participé à cette campagne en émettant des timbres souvent consacrés à la fonte des glaces à cause du réchauffement climatique et à des espèces animales menacées, comme ces 4 manchots empereurs sur un morceau de banquise en train de se désintégrer ici.
A noter la présence en bas à droite sur ce timbre de l'emblème officiel de cette campagne, un cristal de glace stylisé, conçu par le graphiste finlandais Saku Heinänen.
This slogan cancellation shows a stamp collector, with its stamp tong and magnifying glass, as well as a polar dog and a map of the Antarctic continent where Czech Republic has scientific bases (Eco-Nelson in particular, located in the South Shetland Islands, an archipelago North of the Antarctic Peninsula).
Slavek used the stamp (35 CZK, issued in a souvenir sheet), designed by Josef Dudek and engraved by Miloš Ondráček, issued on February 11, 2009 as part of the international campaign "Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers" launched this year at the initiative of the postal administrations of Chile and Finland.
More than 40 postal administrations participated in this campaign by issuing stamps often dedicated to melting ice due to global warming and endangered animal species such as these 4 Emperor penguins on a piece of ice in the process of disintegrating here.
To note the presence on the bottom right of that stamp of the official emblem of this campaign, a stylized ice crystal, designed by Finnish graphic designer Saku Heinänen.

Comme déjà évoqué dans un message précédent, après l'initiative initiée par le Chili et la Finlande en 2009 (à laquelle la France a participé) consacrée à la protection des pôles et des glaciers, l'UPU cette fois est à l'origine d'une nouvelle campagne philatélique internationale , sur le même thème, organisée entre fin 2010 et la fin du 1er semestre 2011.
J'ai déjà présenté sur ce blog les séries émises récemment par le Belarus et la Serbie.
Je suis très heureux de partager aujourd'hui avec vous la jolie série composée de 2 timbres, émise le 3 juin 2011 par la poste de Corée du sud !
As already mentioned in previous posts, after the initiative launched by Chile and Finland in 2009 (to which France was involved) devoted to the Preservation of Polar Regions and Glaciers, UPU is this time at the origin of a new international philatelic campaign, on the same topic, organized from late 2010 to the end of the first half of 2011.
I've already presented on this blog the series issued recently by Belarus and Serbia.
I'm very happy to share with you today the beautiful series of two stamps, issued on June 3, 2011 by the Korean Post !

On retrouve ce symbole, un cristal de glace stylisé conçu par le graphiste finlandais Saku Heinänen, à la fois sur les 2 timbres et le timbre à date.
Cette série coréenne est sans doute une des plus réussie consacrée à cette thématique visant à sensibiliser le plus grand nombre aux effets du réchauffement climatique en particulier sur les régions polaires et les glaciers.
La poste coréenne a reproduit sur ces 2 timbres les 2 dessins lauréats (Grand Prix et Prix d'excellence) de la 16ème édition du concours international organisé par la Korea Post en 2010, dans la catégorie Grand Public.

We can find again this campaign's symbol, a stylized ice crystal by Finnish designer Saku Heinänen, both on two stamps and the postmark.
This Korean series is probably one of the most successful devoted to this subject aiming to educate about the effects of global warming especially in the polar regions and on glaciers.
The Korean Post has reproduced, on these two stamps, the two winning drawings (Grand Prize and Award of Excellence) of the 16th edition of the International Postage Stamp Design Contest organized by the Korea Post in 2010, in the General category.

Ces 2 timbres ont été émis dans une même feuille de 20 timbres (10 paires).
Le thème de ce concours était donc la protection des régions polaires et des glaciers et en particulier l'importance croissante des phénomènes climatiques anormaux nécessitant la sauvegarde des régions polaires à travers la protection des glaciers...
1282 dessins ont été proposés lors de ce concours dont 235 en provenance de l'étranger.
Le 1er prix (Grand Prix) a été remporté par le coréen Ju-yeop Han (40 ans, habitant à Incheon) avec son dessin intitulé "Ours polaire en crise" reproduit sur le timbre ci-dessus. Ce dessin résume à merveille le lien entre la pollution atmosphérique d'origine industrielle et la fonte de la banquise.
Avec ce 1er prix, le lauréat a remporté un diplôme et un chèque de 3000000 wons (environ 1930 €).
These two stamps have been issued in a single sheet of 20 stamps (10 pairs).
The theme of this contest was therefore the protection of the polar regions and glaciers and in particular "Warn about the seriousness of the abnormal climate phenomena, the message that we must save the Polar region through protection of the glaciers"...
1,282 drawings have been proposed in this competition including 235 coming from abroad.
The First Prize (Grand Prix) was won by Korean Ju-yeop Han (40 years old, living in Incheon) with his drawing entitled "The polar bear in crisis" reproduced on the stamp above. This drawing sums up perfectly the link between industrial air pollution and ice melting.
With this First Prize, the winner was awarded a certificate of merit and 3,000,000 wons (about € 1,930).

Le 2ème prix (Prix d'excellence) lors de ce concours a été remporté par Lei Sai Kun (39 ans), habitant Macao, avec son dessin très explicite intitulé "Pingouins ayant perdu leur maison" reproduit sur le 2ème timbre ci-dessus.
Avec ce 2ème prix, Lei Sai Kun a remporté également un diplôme et un chèque de 2000000 wons (environ 1285 €).
The second Prize (Award of Excellence) in this Contest was won by Lei Sai Kun (39 years old), living in Macau, China with his very explicit drawing entitled "The penguins who have lost their home" reproduced on the second stamp above.
Thanks to this 2nd Prize, Lei Sai Kun has also won a certificate of merit and 2,000,000 wons (about € 1,285).

L'administration postale de la Serbie a suivi à la lettre les recommandations de l'UPU concernant la campagne philatélique internationale, organisée entre fin 2010 et la fin du 1er semestre 2011, consacrée à la protection des pôles et des glaciers !
Le bureau de l'UPU encourage en effet les administrations postales participantes à émettre un bloc-feuillet composé de 2 timbres, incluant une valeur faciale totale inférieure à 2€ (112 dinars serbes ici soit 1,16€), avec la mention du fameux logo (cristal de glace stylisé) et du thème de cette campagne dans la langue du pays dans les marges...
La poste serbe a même fait mieux en incluant la mention de cette campagne en anglais !
The postal administration of Serbia has strictly followed the recommendations of UPU concerning the international philatelic campaign, organized from late 2010 to the end of the first half of 2011, dedicated to the preservation of the polar regions and glaciers !
The bureau of the UPU is indeed encouraging the participating postal administrations to issue a souvenir sheet containing two stamps, including a total nominal value of less than € 2.00 (112 Serbian dinars here i.e. € 1.16), with a reference to the famous logo (a stylized ice crystal) and to the theme of this campaign (written in the country's language) in the margins...
The Serbian Post has done even better by including also a mention of this campaign in English !

Merci beaucoup Zoran pour ce courrier posté le 27 avril 2011 de la ville serbe de Pančevo, affranchi avec ce joli bloc-feuillet numéroté (n°12500) évoquant un paysage composé d'icebergs et d'une banquise (sans aucune espèce animale...).
J'avais déjà publié récemment une lettre du Belarus avec une série de 2 timbres émis cette année, consacrés à cette même campagne de sensibilisation aux effets du réchauffement climatiques en particulier dans les 2 régions polaires du globe et concernant les glaciers.
Après la campagne de 2009 initiée par les postes du Chili et de Finlande, à laquelle la France avait participé, l'UPU est donc à l'initiative de cette nouvelle série en 2011 à laquelle d'autres pays vont participer (Belarus, Corée du sud, Luxembourg...).
Cette série permet à la Serbie de rappeler que le pays est membre de la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques, ratifiée aujourd'hui par 194 pays, depuis le 10 juin 2001.

I had already published recently a cover from Belarus with a series of two stamps issued this year, devoted to this same awareness campaign about the effects of climate change in particular in the two polar regions of the globe and on glaciers.
After the 2009 same campaign initiated by the Posts of Chile and Finland, to which France took part, the UPU is thus at the initiative of this new series in 2011 to which other countries will participate (Belarus, Republic of Korea, Luxembourg...).
This series allows Serbia to also remind us that the country is a member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, ratified by 194 countries today, since June 10, 2001.

Je croyais en avoir fini avec cette série philatélique internationale consacrée à la protection des régions polaires et des glaciers, initiée en 2009 par les administrations postales de la Finlande et du Chili...
Mais sous l'impulsion cette fois du bureau international de l'UPU (Union Postale Universelle), ce même thème a été retenu pour l'année 2011 et de nombreux pays (différents de ceux de 2009 je suppose ?) ont déjà prévu des émissions spéciales, avec curieusement le même symbole, un cristal de glace stylisé (conçu par le graphiste finlandais Saku Heinänen), pour dénominateur commun !
Certains pays ont même déjà émis des timbres dans cette thématique en 2010 (Ouzbékistan, république dominicaine...).
I believed that this international stamp series devoted to the protection of polar regions and glaciers, initiated in 2009 by the postal administrations of Finland and Chile, was over...
But at the initiative of the International Bureau of the UPU (Universal Postal Union), this theme has been chosen again in 2011 and many countries (different from those of 2009 I guess ?) have already scheduled some special stamps, including the same symbol, a stylized ice crystal (by Finnish designer Saku Heinänen) !
To note that some countries have already issued stamps devoted to this theme in 2010 (Uzbekistan, Dominican Republic...).

A noter qu'une directive de l'UPU concernant cette campagne internationale stipule que "plus les pays seront nombreux à émettre des timbres-poste en même temps, plus la couverture médiatique sera importante...".
Il est conseillé également l'émission d'un feuillet miniature rectangulaire formé de deux timbres dont la valeur faciale ne doit pas être supérieure à 2€. L'émission d'un timbre isolé est toutefois possible.
Enfin, le thème "préservation des pôles et des glaciers" doit être mentionné (dans la langue nationale du pays) dans les marges du bloc-feuillet.
La poste du Belarus n'a pas tout à fait respecté ces consignes puisque 2 timbres ont bien été émis (valeur faciale de 4000 BYR soit environ 1€) mais dans un bloc-feuillet de 6 timbres (3 de chaque) ainsi que séparément chacun dans un bloc-feuillet de 5 timbres + 1 vignette !
Vladislav Shevardin, le concepteur de cette série, a choisi d'évoquer les effets du réchauffement climatique en particulier en arctique (avec un ours blanc) et en antarctique (manchots royaux).

To note that a directive of the UPU concerning this international stamp campaign states that "the greater the number of countries that issue their stamps at the same time, the greater the media coverage...".
It is also recommended issuing a miniature sheet of two stamps with a total face value not exceeding € 2.00. The issue of a single stamp is also possible.
Finally, the theme "Preserve the polar regions and glaciers" should be printed (in the language of the issuing country) in the margins of the souvenir sheet.
The Post of Belarus did not quite meet these guidelines because two stamps have well been issued (face value of BYR 4000, i.e. about € 1.00) but in a souvenir sheet of 6 stamps (3 of each) and each separately in a souvenir sheet of 5 stamps + 1 vignette !
Vladislav Shevardin, the designer of this series, has chosen to feature the effects of global warming in particular in the Arctic (with a Polar Bear) and Antarctica (with King Penguins) regions.

Je suis très heureux de partager avec vous cette 35ème série, émise par la poste d'Azerbaïdjan ("Azərbaycan" en azéri)le 3 mars 2009, à travers la lettre recommandée ci-dessous postée le 18 septembre 2010 de Bakou, la capitale.

As a reminder, nearly 40 postal administrations (including France) participated in this international philatelic campaign in 2009, initiated by the Posts of Finland and Chile, to increase public awareness of the effects of global warming, particularly in polar regions and on glaciers...

Ce bloc-feuillet, composé de 2 timbres (1 manat chacun), évoque les 2 régions polaires, l'Arctique sur le timbre de droite et l'Antarctique sur celui de gauche, protégées symboliquement par un parapluie semblant arrêter les rayons du soleil...
Comme beaucoup d'autres administrations postales, la poste azéri (concepteur : Kh. Mirzoyev) a représenté dans les marges des espèces animales emblématiques et menacées dans ces régions polaires : manchot empereur, phoque, ours polaire.
Le logo officiel de cette campagne, un cristal de glace stylisé, figure sur les 2 timbres ainsi que dans la marge supérieure.
A noter l'empreinte mentionnant "Azermarka", l'entreprise nationale chargée de la production et de la ventes des timbres, une entité du ministère des communications distincte toutefois de la poste d'Azerbaïdjan ("Azərpoçt")...

This souvenir sheet consisting of two stamps (one manat each), is evoking the two polar regions, Arctic on the right stamp and Antarctica on the left's one, symbolically protected by an umbrella seeming to stop rays of light...
Like many other postal administrations, The Azerbaijan Post (designer : Kh. Mirzoyev) has featured in the margins some emblematic and endangered animal species in the polar regions : Emperor penguin, seal, polar bear.
The official logo of this campaign, a stylized ice crystal, is included on the two stamps but also in the top margin.
To note the inkprint mentioning "Azermarka", the state company responsible for the production and sale of stamps, an entity of the Ministry of Communications, different however of the Post of Azerbaijan ("Azərpoçt")...
To note also the words in French included on the blue cancellation ("Bakon Bureau de poste"). But why "Bakon" instead of "Bakou", the name of the Azeri capital in French ?

La poste indienne a été l'une des dernières administrations postales à émettre sa série de timbres dans le cadre de la campagne philatélique internationale pour la protection des régions polaires et des glaciers, qui a concerné une quarantaine de pays en 2009.
Ces 2 timbres, émis le 19 décembre 2009, figurent en paire se-tenant, en haut sur cette jolie lettre recommandée ci-dessous postée le 15 (?) septembre 2010 de Bangalore. Merci beaucoup Sujay :-)
A noter la toujours aussi mauvaise qualité des oblitérations de la poste indienne...
Comme de nombreuses autres administrations postales, la poste indienne a choisi d'évoquer sur ces 2 timbres la faune de l'arctique (ours polaire) et de l'antarctique (manchot royal, manchots papous), particulièrement menacée par le réchauffement climatique...
India Post was one of the last postal administrations to issue its series of stamps as part of the international stamp campaign for the Protection of the polar regions and glaciers, which involved some forty countries in 2009.
These two stamps, issued on December 19, 2009, are included in a se-tenant pair, at the top on this nice registered cover below mailed on September 15 (?), 2010 from Bangalore. Thank you very much Sujay :-)

Les 4 autre timbres évoquent les 19ème jeux du Commonwealth, organisés pour la 1ère en Inde (à Delhi), du 3 au 14 octobre 2010.
Les 2 plus grands timbres (5 Rs chacun), émis le 1er août 2010, représentent 2 des stades et salles qui accueilleront des épreuves sportives lors de ces jeux : le stade Jawaharlal Nehru (cérémonies d'ouverture et de fermeture, athlétisme, haltérophilie, lawn bowls) et le stade Talkatora (boxe).
Les 2 autres timbres (5 et 20 Rs), émis le 25 juin 2010, évoquent le Queen's Baton Relay. A la manière du parcours de la flamme olympique, ce parcours, débuté en octobre 2009, est organisé dans 70 pays du Commonwealth. Ce Baton, qui contient un message du chef du Commonwealth, la reine Elisabeth II actuellement, est porté par Shera, le tigre mascotte de ces jeux, sur ces 2 timbres.
Plus de 6000 athlètes venant de 72 pays ou territoires du Commonwealth vont participer aux 17 disciplines sportives (260 épreuves au total) organisées lors de ces jeux.
The other four stamps evoke the 19th Commonwealth Games, held for the first time in India (Delhi) from 3 to 14 October 2010.
The two largest stamps (Rs 5.00 each), issued on August 1, 2010, feature two of the stadiums and venues that will host sporting events at these Games : the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (opening and closing ceremonies, athletics, weightlifting, lawn bowls) and the Talkatora Stadium (boxing).
The other two stamps (Rs 5.00 and 20.00), issued on June 25, 2010, evoke the Queen's Baton Relay. In the manner of the Olympic Torch, this relay, started in October 2009, is organized in 70 Commonwealth countries. This Baton, containing a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II today, is carried by Shera, the tiger mascot of these games, on these two stamps.
More than 6,000 athletes from 72 Commonwealth countries or territories will compete in 17 sports (260 events in total) during these games.

Comme pour les 2 autres paires de timbres composant cet affranchissement, la paire consacrée à la protection des pôles et des glaciers a également été émise dans un bloc-feuillet.
Sujay a eu la gentillesse de joindre le bloc ci-dessus à sa lettre !
Le logo de cette campagne (cristal de glace stylisé) figure sur chacun des 2 timbres mais aussi dans la marge en bas à gauche.
La carte du continent Antarctique figure en haut à droite avec des parties en rouge (péninsule) et bleu qui évoquent sans doute les zones les plus menacées par les effets du réchauffement climatique ?
Comme de coutume, les dentelures des 2 timbres sont pour le moins approximatives, en particulier dans les coins. Et à noter le "splendide" décalage de la dentelure horizontale concernant le timbre à droite !
As for the other two pairs of stamps composing this postage, the pair devoted to the protection of the poles and glaciers has also been issued in a souvenir sheet.
Sujay was kind enough to join this sheet above to his letter !

The map of Antarctica is featured in the upper right with parts in red (Peninsula) and blue evoking probably the most threatened areas due to the effects of global warming ?
As usual, the perforations of these two stamps are really rough, especially in the corners. And to note the "splendid" gap of the horizontal perforations concerning the stamp to the right !

Je suis heureux de partager la lettre ci-dessous avec vous car c'est la 1ère fois que je reçois un courrier du Canada affranchi avec un timbre personnalisé, plus précisément un Timbre-photo^MC, un service proposé aux particuliers par la poste canadienne en partenariat avec la compagnie canadienne des billets de banque limitée.
Avec ce "MonTimbraMoi" à la canadienne, les usagers peuvent choisir de faire figurer une photographie de leur choix sur un timbre permanent autocollant au tarif intérieur (0,57$ actuellement). Deux cadres différents sont proposés (dont celui ci-dessous avec un ruban argenté) et les timbres sont vendus en feuillet de 20 timbres (27,95$) ou en feuille de 40 timbres (44,75$) avec des tarifs dégressifs à partir de 2 feuillets ou feuilles commandés.
I'm happy to share with you today the letter below because this is the first time I received a cover from Canada franked with a Personalized, a Picture Postage^TM more precisely, a service provided to individuals by Canada Post in partnership with the Canadian Bank Note Company.
With this Canadian "MonTimbraMoi", users have to choose a photograph of their choice to feature on a Permanent self-adhesive domestic rate (currently $ 0.57) stamp. Two different frames are available (including the one below with a silver ribbon) and the stamps are sold in panes of 20 stamps ($ 27.95) or in full sheet of 40 stamps ($ 44.75) with sliding scale prices from two sheets purchased.

Difficile de déchiffrer la date exacte d'envoi de cette lettre postée à Vancouver sur laquelle ont été apposés, le 27 juillet 2010, trois timbres à dates manuels lors de son arrivée à la plate-forme de préparation et de distribution du courrier (PPDC) de Lyon 03 (code 22209A)...
Le timbre à 0,57$ en haut à gauche, émis le 1er février 2010, rend hommage à William Hall (1827-1904), le premier noir, le premier Néo-Écossais et le premier marin canadien à recevoir la Croix de Victoria en 1859. Il fut honoré pour ses actes de bravoure lors de l'attaque de la frégate HMS Shannon (représentée dans le fond du timbre) par des mutins en 1857 à Lucknow (Inde). Ce timbre a été émis dans le cadre du Mois de l'histoire des Noirs. Deux timbres avaient déjà été émis dans cette série en 2009.

Not easy to decipher the exact date of dispatch of this cover mailed in Vancouver on which have been applied, on July 27, 2010, three hand postmarks when it arrived at the Mail Platform in Lyon (Code 22209A)...
The $ 0.57 stamp in the upper left, issued on February 1, 2010, pays tribute to William Hall (1827-1904), the first black person, the first Nova Scotian and the first Canadian sailor to receive the Victoria Cross in 1859. He was honored for his bravery during the attack of the frigate HMS Shannon (featured on this stamp's background) in 1857 by mutineers at Lucknow, India.
This stamp was issued as part of the Black History Month in Canada. Two stamps had already been issued in this series in 2009.
I've already mentioned on this blog the other two stamps above, in particular the $ 0.54 one (Arctic Tern) issued in 2009 as part of the "Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers" international stamp canpaign.

Le 14 avril 2010, la poste canadienne a émis, conjointement avec la poste israélienne, un timbre célébrant 60 ans d'amitié entre les 2 pays.
Ce timbre au tarif international (hors USA) figure sur l'autre lettre ci-dessus postée le 20 avril 2010 d'Edmonton.
Ce timbre, conçu par l'illustrateur Yarek Waszul, symbolise les liens unissant le Canada et Israël, qui ont établis officiellement des relations diplomatiques le 11 mai 1949 (il y a 61 ans en réalité !).
J'aime plutôt bien le graphisme de ce timbre avec ces personnages rouges et bleus disposés de manière à former la feuille d'érable canadienne et l'étoile de David israélienne...
La poste canadienne a émis ce timbre en carnet de 6 timbres incluant deux tabs, comme celui ci-dessus, un clin d'oeil à cette particularité de la philatélie en Israël ;-)
A noter que cette émission a suscité une polémique au Canada alors que certains dénonçaient la politique d'Israël dans les territoires palestiniens...
On April 14, 2010, Canada Post has issued jointly with the Post of Israel, a stamp celebrating 60 years of friendship between the two countries.
This international rate (except USA) stamp is included on the other cover above mailed on April 20, 2010 from Edmonton.
The stamp, designed by illustrator Yarek Waszul, symbolizes the ties between Canada and Israel, that have officially established diplomatic relations on May 11, 1949 (61 years ago actually !).
I rather like the graphics of this stamp with these red and blue characters arranged to form the Canadian maple leaf and the Israeli Star of David...
Canada Post has issued this stamp in a booklet of six stamps including two tabs, like the one above, a nod to this peculiarity of Israel's philately ;-)
To note that this issue has generated controversy in Canada when some have denounced the Israeli policy in the Palestinian territories...

This very nice set is included on the letter below mailed on August 9, 2010 from the city of Culiacán (north-western Mexico).

La poste mexicaine a choisi d'évoquer les trois plus hauts sommets du pays, le volcan Citlaltépetl (5636 mètres, le point culminant du pays) ou pic d'Orizaba sur le timbre du haut et la montagne Iztaccíhuatl (5230 mètres) ainsi que le volcan en activité Popocatépetl (5426 mètres, le plus célèbre !) réunis sur l'autre timbre.
Ces 3 plus hauts sommets du pays, tous situés dans le sud-est du pays (états de Puebla et Veracruz), sont les seuls à bénéficier toute l'année de neiges éternelles et de glaciers.
The Mexican Post has chosen to feature the three highest peaks in the country, Citlaltépetl volcano (5,636 meters, the country's highest point) or Pico de Orizaba on the stamp at the top and Iztaccíhuatl mountain (5,230 meters) with the Popocatépetl volcano (5,426 meters, the most famous !) gathered on the other stamp.
These three highest peaks in the country, all located in south-eastern part of the country (States of Puebla and Veracruz), are the only ones to contain permanent snow and glaciers.

Le logo officiel de cette campagne (un cristal de glace stylisé) figure sur ces 2 timbres mais aussi dans la marge supérieure à droite des mini-feuilles numérotées (voir ci-dessus) contenant ces paires de timbres (25000 feuilles émises au total).
Ma collection est pratiquement complète maintenant... il me manque les séries d'Azerbaïdjan, des îles Féroé, du Groënland et d'Inde.
A noter que d'autres pays ou territoires ont également émis des timbres ou blocs dans le cadre de cette campagne : Abkhazie, Transnistrie, Pays-Bas (timbres personnalisés)...

Merci beaucoup Volodymyr de me permettre de publier aujourd'hui cette 32ème lettre, en provenance d'Ukraine, affranchie avec une série de timbres émise en 2009 dans le cadre de la campagne philatélique internationale pour la protection des régions polaires et des glaciers, menacés par le réchauffement climatique. Je suis d'autant plus heureux que ces 2 timbres se-tenant ukrainiens (3,30 hryvnias chacun), émis le 18 mars 2009, figurent parmi les plus réussis à mon goût ! La lettre ci-dessous, postée le 24 février 2010 de la ville de Dnipropetrovsk, est un FDC à l'origine. It's been a long time ! Thank you very much Volodymyr for allowing me to post today this 32nd letter, coming from Ukraine, franked with a series of stamps issued in 2009 as part of the international stamp campaign for the Protection of the Polar Regions and Glaciers, threatened by global warming. It's all the more true that these two se-tenant Ukrainian stamps (UAH 3.30 each), issued on March 18, 2009, are among the most successful for my liking ! The letter below, posted on February 24, 2010 from the city of Dnipropetrovsk, is a FDC originally. L'emblème de cette campagne philatélique, le désormais célèbre cristal de glace stylisé, n'a pas été inclus sur ces 2 timbres mais uniquement sur la vignette centrale de la mini-feuille composée de 8 timbres (4 de chaque). Cette vignette, similaire à l'illustration sur cette enveloppe en bas à gauche, mentionne également que cette émission a eu lieu dans le cadre de l'année polaire internationale 2007-2009. Les 2 timbres évoquent un iceberg et la station de recherche ukrainienne "Akademik Vernadsky" située en Antarctique, sur l'île Galindez sur la côte ouest de la péninsule Antarctique. Un point rouge permet de située cette base sur une carte de l'Antarctique incluse sur ce timbre. L'Ukraine, un des 47 pays signataires du traité sur l'Antarctique, dispose de cette base composée de 9 bâtiments, depuis 1996 (elle appartenait aux britanniques auparavant). Volodymyr a ajouté en haut à gauche un timbre émis le 14 avril 2007 faisant partie de la 7ème série courante de la poste ukrainienne représentant différents objets du patrimoine culturel. Ce timbre permanent (Є correspond à 3,33 hryvnias), représentant un encrier, a été émis en 2 versions différentes : l'une avec la mention en microtexte "2007" et l'autre avec "2007-II" sous le Є, comme sur ce timbre... The insignia of this stamp campaign, the now famous stylized ice crystal, was not directly included on these two stamps but only on the central tab of the mini-sheet composed of 8 stamps (4 of each). This tab, similar to the illustration on the envelope in the lower left, also mentions that this issue took place during the International Polar Year 2007-2009. These two stamps evoke an iceberg and the Ukrainian research station "Akademik Vernadsky" located in Antarctica, on Galindez Island on the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. A red dot allows to locate this station on a map of Antarctica included on this stamp. Ukraine, one of the 47 countries having signed the Antarctic Treaty, took over the operation of this research base consisting of 9 buildings, in 1996 (it previously belonged to the British). Volodymyr added at the top left a stamp issued on April 14, 2007 as part of the 7th definitive series of the Ukrainian Post featuring different cultural heritage artifacts. This Permanent stamp (Є corresponds to UAH 3.33), depicting an inkwell, was issued in two different versions : one with the microtext "2007" and an other with "2007-II" under the Є, as on this stamp...

En attendant les dernières séries du Mexique, des îles Féroé, du Groënland, d'Azerbaidjan, d'Ukraine ou d'Inde, voici ci-dessous ma 1ère lettre reçue de Nouvelle-Zélande affranchie avec le bloc-feuillet composé de 2 timbres identiques (1,50$ chacun) représentant le glacier François-Joseph.
Merci beaucoup Adrienne pour ce courrier qui a transité le 25 janvier 2010 par le centre de tri d'Auckland puisqu'en Nouvelle-Zélande, comme de plus en plus souvent en France, il est devenu très difficile d'obtenir des oblitérations manuelles dans les bureaux de poste...

By waiting the last series issued by Mexico, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and India, here is below my first letter from New Zealand stamped with the souvenir sheet consisting of two identical stamps ($ 1.50 each) featuring the Franz Josef Glacier.
Thank you very much Adrienne for this cover that has passed on January 25, 2010 by the Auckland's sorting office, because in New Zealand, and also more and more often in France, it's now very difficult to get handmade cancellations in post offices...

A noter que ce bloc-feuillet a été émis le 4 mars 2009 par la New Zealand Post, l'organisme postal (public depuis 1987), alors que plusieurs autres opérateurs privés (Universal Mail, New Zealand Mail...) sont autorisés depuis 1998 à émettre aussi leurs propres timbres dans le pays.
Le bloc ci-dessus comporte dans ses marges l'emblème (cristal de glace stylisé) de cette campagne de sensibilisation aux effets du réchauffement climatique en particulier dans les régions polaires et pour les glaciers ainsi que la mention "Année Polaire Internationale 2007-2009" déjà évoquée sur mon blog.
A noter qu'une carte du continent Antarctique et de la position géographique de la Nouvelle-Zélande par rapport à celui-ci figure également en très légère surimpression (vernis ?) dans la marge en bas à droite de ce bloc !
Ce timbre à 1,50$ faisait en fait partie d'une série "tourisme" de 6 timbres émis le 1er mars 2006. La poste néo-zélandaise l'a réutilisé pour confectionner ce bloc, sans toutefois mentionner d'année d'émission.
Ce glacier de 12 km de long (-2,5 km en un siècle), portant le nom de l'empereur François-Joseph I d'Autriche (donné en 1865 par l'explorateur et géologue allemand Julius von Haast), est situé dans le parc national de Westland Tai Poutini, dans le massif des Alpes du sud (fond du bloc) dans la région de West Coast sur l'île du sud.
Note that this souvenir sheet was issued on March 4, 2009 by the New Zealand Post, the state owned postal enterprise (since 1987), while several other private operators (Universal Mail, New Zealand Mail...) are authorized since 1998 to also issue their own stamps in the country.
The sheet above includes in its margins the emblem (a stylized ice crystal) of this campaign about the effects of global warming particularly in the polar regions and glaciers and also the words "International Polar Year 2007-2009" already mentioned on my blog.
It's worth noting that a map of the Antarctic continent, and the geographical location of New Zealand related to it, is also included in a very light overprinting (varnish ?) in the bottom right margin of this block !
This $ 1.50 stamp was initialy issued as part of a "Tourism" set of six stamps issued on March 1, 2006. The New Zealand Post has reused it to make this sheet, without mentioning the year of issue.
This 12 km long (-2.5 km during last century) Glacier, named after Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria (named in 1865 by the German explorer and geologist Julius von Haast), is located in the Westland Tai Poutini National Park, in the Southern Alps, in the West Coast Region on the South Island.

Je profite de la publication de cette toute 1ère lettre reçus des antipodes pour partager avec vous les 2 documents philatéliques néo-zélandais originaux ci-dessus et ci-dessous, que mon ami canadien Garnet m'a envoyé il y a quelques temps :-)
Ces 2 FDC ont été émis à l'occasion du passage à l'an 2000. Celui ci-dessus, appelé "Last Day Cover" (!) commémore le dernier coucher de soleil qui eu lieu le 31 décembre 1999 à 20h42 dans la ville néo-zélandaise d'Invercargill.
Il faut rappeler que la Nouvelle-Zélande est située toute proche du 180ème méridien qui correspond approximativement à la ligne de changement de date sur le globe terrestre.
Pour l'occasion, la poste néo-zélandaise a réutilisé le timbre rond (1$) émis le 6 août 1997 représentant un kiwi austral (Apteryx australis) en y ajoutant dans chaque coin une surimpression dorée symbolisant des rayons du soleil. Ce timbre a été émis en quantité limitée :-)
I take advantage of the publication of this first ever cover received from the antipodes to share with you the two original New Zealand's Philatelic documents above and below, sent to me by my Canadian friend Garnet some time ago :-)
These two FDC were issued to celebrate the beginning of the third millenium in the year 2000. The one above, called "Last Day Cover" (!) commemorates the last sunset which took place on December 31, 1999 at 20:42 in the New Zealand city of Invercargill.
As a reminder, New Zealand is located very close to the 180° longitude, which roughly corresponds to the International Date Line on Earth.
For this occasion, the New Zealand Post has reused the round stamp ($ 1.00) issued on August 6, 1997 depicting a Southern Brown Kiwi (Apteryx australis) overprinted with a gold sun pattern in the selvedge. This stamp was issued in only a small quantity :-)

Le lendemain, 1er janvier 2000, la poste néo-zélandaise a cette fois émis le tout 1er FDC ci-dessus affranchi avec 2 timbres à 40c mentionnant que le 1er lever de soleil de l'an 2000 a eu lieu à 3h59, précisément à Hakepa, situé sur l'île Pitt (Rangiauria) qui fait partie de l'archipel des Chatham, à plus de 800 km à l'est de la Nouvelle-Zélande.
Cette île est la première zone habitée sur la Terre a observé un lever de soleil chaque nouvelle année ! D'ailleurs, Hakepa signifie "L'endroit qui reçoit les premiers rayons du soleil" dans la langue des Moriori, le peuple polynésien autochtone de cet archipel.
On devine cette ligne de changement de date mentionnée précédemment sur le timbre ci-dessus.
The day after, 1st January 2000, the New Zealand Post has issued this time the first FDC above franked with two 40c stamps indicating that the first sunrise of the year 2000 took place at 3:59, precisely in Hakepa, located on Pitt Island (Rangiauria) which is part of the Chatham Islands, over 800 km east of New Zealand.

Hakepa moreover means "The place which receives the first rays of sunlight" in the language of the Moriori, the indigenous Polynesian people from this islands.

L'année 2009 a été une année importante pour l'administration postale d'Åland, cet archipel de 6500 îles situé à l'entrée du golfe de Botnie, entre la Suède et la Finlande, un territoire autonome rattaché à la Finlande.
L'administration postale d'Åland avait en effet obtenu son autonomie postale 25 ans auparavant en 1984 et avait émis son premier timbre le 1er mars de la même année (drapeau alandais).
Des thèmes presque exclusivement alandais (culture, histoire, nature...) sont évoqués sur la vingtaine de timbres émis chaque année.
Ce fut d'ailleurs le cas concernant le bloc-feuillet, émis le 22 janvier 2009 dans le cadre de la campagne philatélique internationale pour la protection des régions polaires et des glaciers, initiée par les postes de Finlande et du Chili.
The year 2009 was an important year for the postal administration of Åland, this archipelago of 6,500 islands located at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia between Sweden and Finland, a Finnish autonomous territory.
The postal administration of Åland had indeed obtained its postal autonomy 25 years earlier in 1984 and had issued its first stamp on March 1st of the same year (Åland's flag).
Some almost exclusively Åland's themes (culture, history, nature...) are featured on the about twenty stamps issued each year.
This was also the case concerning the souvenir sheet, issued on January 22, 2009 as part of the international stamp campaign for the Protection of the Polar Regions and Glaciers, initiated by the Posts of Finland and Chile.

La poste d'Åland a en effet choisi de traiter ce thème du réchauffement climatique global de façon locale en célébrant le 100ème anniversaire de l'introduction de l'électricité à Åland. Une éolienne est ainsi représentée (imprimée en relief) sur le timbre rappelant ainsi que près de 25% de l'électricité de l'archipel est issue de l'énergie du vent grâce à 22 éoliennes installées sur tout le territoire !
J'aime beaucoup l'originalité de ce bloc-feuillet imprimé en offset (quadrichromie) et technologie Metal FX par le canadien Lowe-Martin Group.
La poste alandaise fait régulièrement appel à d'autres compagnies internationales pour l'impression de ses timbres : Southern Colour Print (Nouvelle-Zélande), Posten Sverige (Suède), Cartor Security Printing (France) et Royal Joh. Enschedé (Pays-Bas) ont aussi été sollicitées pour le programme philatélique 2009 !
This beautiful souvenir sheet consisting of a € 2.00 stamp is included on the cover above, mailed on January 4, 2010 from Mariehamn, the capital of this archipelago.

The Åland Post has chosen to evoke this topic of global warming in a local way by celebrating the 100th anniversary of the introduction of electricity in Åland. A wind turbine is thus pictured (embossed) on the stamp reminding us that nearly 25% of electricity in this archipelago comes from wind energy with 22 wind turbines installed throughout the territory !
I really like the originality of this souvenir sheet printed in 4-color offset with a Metal FX technology by the Canadian Lowe-Martin Group.
The Åland Post regularly calls upon other international companies for printing its stamps : Southern Colour Print (New Zealand), Posten Sverige (Sweden), Cartor Security Printing (France) and Royal Joh. Enschedé (Netherlands) have also been approached for the 2009 stamp program !

Comme de nombreuses administrations postales, la poste bulgare a mentionné sur son bloc-feuillet spécial que cette campagne philatélique internationale pour la préservation des régions polaires et des glaciers avait aussi lieu dans le cadre de l'année polaire internationale 2007-2009.
Comme la quarantaine de timbres, blocs ou séries de timbres émis dans le cadre de cette campagne, le logo (cristal de glace stylisé) figure dans la marge supérieure et de façon plus discrète sur les 2 timbres (émission le 27 mars 2009).

As many postal administrations, the Bulgarian Post has mentioned on its special souvenir sheet that this international philatelic campaign for the Preservation of the polar regions and glaciers were also held as part of the 2007-2009 International Polar Year.
As the forty stamps, blocks or sets of stamps issued as part of this campaign, the insignia (a stylized ice crystal) is included in the top margin and on the two stamps in a more discreet way (issue on March 27, 2009).

La poste bulgare a choisi pour thème différentes espèces animales caractéristiques des régions polaires de l'antarctique (timbre de gauche) et de l'arctique (timbre de droite). Ces espèces sont menacées par le réchauffement climatique particulièrement important dans ces régions.
Maglena Konstantinova, la conceptrice de ce bloc, a réussi le pari de représenter pas moins de 6 espèces de pingouins ou manchots différentes sur le timbre de gauche : manchot à jugulaire, manchot royal, manchot pygmée, gorfou sauteur, gorfou doré et manchot empereur !
Un autre oiseau, le pygargue à queue blanche, est représenté sur l'autre timbre consacré à la faune arctique, accompagné de l'inévitable ours polaire, d'un narval et d'un phoque à capuchon.
Sauf erreur, l'Inde, l'Uruguay et le Paraguay n'ont toujours pas émis leurs timbres pourtant annoncés dans le cadre de cette campagne internationale...
The Bulgarian Post has chosen as topic different characteristic animal species from the polar regions of Antarctica (left stamp) and Arctic (right stamp). These species are threatened by global warming particularly important in these regions.
Maglena Konstantinova, the designer of this sheet, has managed the challenge of depicting not less than six different species of penguins on the left stamp : Chinstrap penguin, King penguin, Little penguin, Western Rockhopper penguin, Macaroni penguin and Emperor penguin !
Another bird, the White-tailed eagle, is pictured on the other stamp dedicated to Arctic wildlife, accompanied by the inevitable Polar bear, a Narwhal and a Hooded seal.
If I'm not wrong, India, Uruguay and Paraguay are the last postal administrations not having issued yet their announced stamps as part of this international campaign...

L'emblème officiel de cette campagne internationale initiée par les postes finlandaises et chiliennes, un cristal de glace stylisé, figure au centre de ce bloc-feuillet ainsi que sur les deux timbres émis le 18 mars 2009.
Comme beaucoup d'autres émissions dans ce cadre, ce bloc (conçu par Ģirts Grīva) évoque deux espèces animales emblématiques des deux régions polaires, un ours polaire (arctique) et un manchot empereur et son petit (antarctique), particulièrement menacées par le réchauffement climatique.
Je vous laisse admirer la splendide aurore polaire (boréale ou australe ?) dans la partie supérieure de ce bloc-feuillet !
The official insignia of this international campaign initiated by the Finnish and Chilean Posts, a stylized ice crystal, is included on the central margin of this sheet and also on the two stamps issued on March 18, 2009.
As many other stamps issued as part of this campaign, this sheet (designed by Ģirts Grīva) is mentioning two animal emblematic species from the two polar regions, a Polar Bear (Arctic) and an Emperor Penguin and its young (Antarctica), particularly threatened by climate global warming.

Voici (enfin !) une nouvelle émission dans le cadre de la campagne philatélique internationale pour la protection des régions polaires et des glaciers, particulièrement menacés par le réchauffement climatique...
Ce nouveau bloc-feuillet très original, composé de 4 timbres autocollants, a été émis le 30 juin 2009 par la poste japonaise.
Il figure sur la jolie lettre ci-dessous postée le jour d'émission de Tokyo.

Here is (at last !) a new issue as part of the International Philatelic campaign for the protection of the polar regions and glaciers, particularly threatened by global warming...
This very original souvenir sheet, consisting of four self-adhesive stamps was issued on June 30, 2009 by the Japan Post.
It is included on the nice cover below mailed on the date of issue from Tokyo.

La poste japonaise a utilisé pour la 1ère fois une technique holographique pour concevoir ce bloc-feuillet, en particulier concernant les contours des 4 animaux représentés, les valeurs faciales, l'emblème de cette campagne (cristal de glace stylisé) et la mention "Année polaire internationale 2007-2009" dans la marge supérieure de ce bloc.
La poste japonaise a choisi de représenter 4 espèces animales menacées par les effets néfastes des changements climatiques dans les régions polaires arctiques et antarctiques : ours polaire, phoque de Weddell, renard arctique et manchot Adélie.
Parmi la quarantaine de pays participant à cette campagne, le Japon est un des seuls à avoir émis un bloc sensibilisant en priorité les plus jeunes. Je le trouve très réussi avec ce fond montrant une jolie aurore polaire :-)
A noter les 4 oblitérations différentes appliquées sur chaque timbre dont une est inspirée du timbre "ours polaire" et une montre l'emblème de cette campagne.
La 3ème oblitération rouge, en bas à gauche, reste mystérieuse pour moi ??
The Japan Post has used for the first time an holographic technique to design this souvenir sheet, particularly on the outlines of the four animals depicted, the nominal values, the insignia of this campaign (a stylized ice crystal) and the mention "International Polar Year 2007-2009" in the top margin of this block.
Japan Post has chosen to depict four animal species threatened by the bad effects of climate change in the Arctic and Antarctic polar regions : polar bear, Weddell seal, arctic fox and Adelie penguin.
From the forty countries participating in this campaign, Japan is one of the few to have designed a sheet educating the younger in priority. I find these stamps really successful with this beautiful background showing polar lights :-)
It's worth noting the four different cancellations applied on each stamp, one of which being inspired by the "polar bear" stamp and one showing the insignia of this world campaign.
The third red postmark (lower left) is very mysterious for me ??

La poste chilienne est à l'initiative, avec la Finlande, de cette campagne philatélique.
Je vous avais déjà présenté dans un message précédent la série de 2 timbres se-tenant émis par le Chili le 18 mars 2009.
La poste chilienne a également émis dans cette même série le bloc-feuillet numéroté (n° 306) ci-dessus composé de 2 timbres ayant chacun une valeur faciale élevée (1500 pesos). Cette émission "de luxe" a fait l'objet d'un tirage de seulement 3000 exemplaires...
Les 2 timbres reprennent le même visuel que les 2 timbres se-tenant avec les 2 régions polaires et les 2 lignes rouges symbolisant les dangers du changement climatique qui les menacent.
Je n'ai toujours pas compris ce que représentait exactement cette forme glacée servant de fond sur ce bloc ??

The Chilean Post is at the root, with Finland, of this philatelic campaign.
I had already published in a previous post the series of two se-tenant stamps issued by Chile on March 18th 2009.
The Chilean Post has also issued in this same serie the numbered souvenir sheet (No. 306) above consisting of two stamps each with a high nominal value (1500 pesos). This "luxury" issue has been printing in only 3,000 copies...
The two stamps are depicting the same designs as the two se-tenant stamps with the two polar regions and the two red lines symbolizing the dangers of climate change that threaten them.
I don't exactly understand what this sheet's icefield background is refering to ??

Dans un message publié sur ce blog en mai 2009, je vous avais présenté le très joli bloc-feuillet de 2 timbres émis par la poste hongroise dans le cadre de la campagne philatélique internationale de protection des régions polaires et des glaciers.
Dans cette même série, 4 autres timbres furent émis le 27 mars 2009, sans toutefois faire référence au cristal de glace stylisé, insigne officiel de cette campagne...

Ces 4 jolis timbres montrent des espèces animales dans leur milieu naturel, de gauche à droite : l'ours polaire (Ursus maritimus, la vedette de cette campagne !), le boeuf musqué (Ovibos moschatus), le léopard des neiges (Uncia uncia) et des manchots royaux (Aptenodytes patagonicus).
Comme le bloc-feuillet, cette série ci-dessus est particulière car elle a été imprimée en offset et la Magyar Posta a ajouté pour la première fois des parties sérigraphiées avec un vernis irisé, utilisé d'habitude pour la sécurisation de billets de banques ou de pièces d'identité !
Cette technique permet à cette série de rappeler l'atmosphère glacée des régions polaires...
Cette série en version sérigraphiée a été émise à 100000 exemplaires. Une version offset classique est également disponible (tirage : 250000).
These four beautiful stamps are depicting different animal species in their natural environment, from left to right : a polar bear (Ursus maritimus, the star of this campaign !), a musk ox (Ovibos moschatus), a snow leopard (uncia Uncia) and king penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus).
As for the souvenir sheet, the series above is very special because it was printed in offset and the Magyar Posta has for the first time added an iridescent spot-varnish screen printing, usually used in the manufacture of security products !
Thanks to this technique, this series recalls the frosty atmosphere of the polar regions...
This "iridescent" version was issued in 100,000 copies. A basic offset version is also available (print run : 250,000).
