EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp set on cover from Italy

As in 2019, the Italian Post was again this year one of the last European postal administrations to put its EUROPA series into circulation, on June 29, 2020, consisting of two stamps as usual, illustrating the theme of the ancient postal routes ("antichi itinerari postali "in Italian).
These two self-adhesive stamps, printed in sheets of 45 stamps, have been used on the pretty illustrated envelope below, sent on July 13, 2020 from the city of Bologna. Thank you very much Salvatore!
I'm really not a fan of this series, reproducing more or less old maps, unreadable on such a small size ...

The first stamp (domestic rate "B" - € 1.10 for a shipment up to 20g, print run: 400,000) represents part of the current regions of Campania and Lazio, taken from the "Postal communications map of the Kingdom of Italy" published in 1930 (communications library, Ministry of Economic Development).
The other stamp (rate "B zone 1" - € 1.15 for a shipment up to 20g to European countries and the Mediterranean basin - print run: 1,000,000) reproduces a map of the Italian peninsula dating from 1695 (by cartographer Giacomo Cantelli), entitled "Italy with its post offices and main roads" (private collection).
This historical map showed for the first time the entire Italian postal road system.

Sepac 2020 (Art from the State Collection) stamp on cover and FDC from Liechtenstein

Merci beaucoup Jens !
As a reminder, the Small European Postal Administration Cooperation (SEPAC) is an association of small European postal administrations (13 currently), created in 1999, in order to discuss various philatelic and postal issues specific to these small structures.
Since 2007 (theme : landscapes), stamps having a common theme are issued by some members (11 in 2020 a priori, all except Gibraltar and Vatican City) and an election for the most beautiful Sepac stamp has been organized for the first time in 2010.
The Principality of Liechtenstein has participated in these Sepac issues since 2007 and issued, on June 2, 2020, its 11th Sepac stamp, whose theme this year is "Art from the State Collection".
This stamp (CHF 1.50, print run: 49,500), reproducing a work by Matt Mullican, was used on the cover below, sent on July 20, 2020 from Vaduz (illustrated "Vaduz Castle" postmark), the capital. Thanks a lot Jens!

This stamp represents a work entitled "Untitled (Indian Banner: World)" (1982) by American artist Matt Mullican (born in1951), on display at the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein.
The original of this work is a printed cotton banner measuring 2.48 x 2.25 meters, representing a stylized globe in a red frame.
Life and death, living space and society as well as perception of the world are themes that Matt Mullican uses to reflect his experience of the world.
In order to create a system of order and explain social structures and phenomena, he has created his own, very individual cosmology, which he translates into drawings, pictogram collections and imaginary urban structures, and whose central motifs run through his entire oeuvre.
In doing so, colours, forms, signs and models create his system of visual symbols.

I had, before this letter from Jens, received the above official FDC regarding this same Sepac stamp, with postmark from Vaduz (design: Sereina Hatt), inspired by the globe present on the Matt Mullican's work.
This stamp was printed by Gutenberg AG in Schaan, in a sheetlet consisting of 9 stamps, with the title of the work and mention of the artist only in the lower margin.

Euromed Postal 2020 (Traditional Gastronomy in the Mediterranean) set on FDC from Malta

July 9, 2020 was chosen again as the date of issue of a joint stamp between several Mediterranean countries, entitled "Euromed Postal" devoted to the theme of the "Traditional Gastronomy in the Mediterranean" this year.
After the "Costumes of the Mediterranean" in 2019, the 12 participating postal administrations (to date) have issued this year different stamps dedicated to culinary specialties (sweet or salty), traditional from the Mediterranean Sea.
As a reminder, July 9th evokes the first International Convention of the Mediterranean Post signed in Marseille, France on July 9, 2007.
Since that date, the Postal Union for the Mediterranean (PUMed), a restricted union of the UPU, was created on March 11, 2011 and currently includes postal operators from 23 Mediterranean countries (including also Portugal and Mauritania).

Since 2014, the Maltese Post has been participating in these Euromed Postal stamp issues and, on July 9, 2020, has put into circulation a new series of three stamps including the Euromed Postal logo (a stylized hawk).  I was lucky to receive the nice official FDC above (with postmarks from South Street Post Office in Valletta) regarding these 3 stamps. Thank you very much Silvan!
Designed by MaltaPost Creative Studio, these stamps are dedicated to traditional Maltese pastries, reminding us that Maltese gastronomy is closely linked to relations with foreign cultures.
The first stamp (€ 0.30, print run: 60,000) represents Rustic Biscuits ("Biskuttini tar-Rahal"), made from a mixture of spices and aromatic herbs, in particular ground cloves, caraway seeds and anise. These biscuits, decorated with swirls of pink or blue icing, are enjoyed with tea.
The following stamp (€ 0.59, print run: 130,000) is dedicated to Biscuit rings with sesame seeds ("Qaghaq tal-Gunglien") made from flour with lemon/orange zest, a blend of aromatic spices and sesame seeds.
The last stamp (€ 1.25, pritn run: 36000) represents Coconut Lamingtons ("Pasta Roza bil-Gewz tal-Indi"), a sponge cake originating from Australia and adapted to Malta, made from vanilla and soaked in a strawberry syrup and rolled in dried coconut.

EUROPA 2019 (National birds) m/s on cover from Denmark

On May 16, 2019, the Danish Post (PostNord Danmark) put into circulation, only in the form of a miniature sheet, its series of two EUROPA stamps, having for theme that year the national birds ("Nationalfugle" in Danish).
The mute swan (Cygnus olor), "knopsvane" in Danish, became the national bird of Denmark in 1984, replacing the skylark (Alauda arvensis).
This bird, one of the heaviest flying birds, was not initially officially given the status of Denmark's national bird by law, but by a popular vote organized by a Danish TV show ...

This very pretty miniature sheet (artist: Carl Christian Tofte, design: Ella Clausen), printed in France by Cartor, was used on the cover above sent on July 7, 2020 from the municipality of Birkerød (northern outskirts of Copenhagen). Thank you very much Rune!
This postage rate of 30 DKK (around € 4), probably the highest in Europe, corresponds to an international shipment up to 100g.
The mute swan probably derives its popularity in Denmark from the children's tale "The Ugly Duckling" (1842), by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875).
An autobiographical interpretation of this tale has retained the revenge of the poet (the swan) on ordinary people (the ducks), when he discovers an environment which allows him to recognize his talent ...

Celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Alexandru Ioan Cuza in Moldova

Thank you very much Niall (IMPS - The International Moldovan Philatelic Society) and Ala for this very interesting letter, sent late, on June 24, 2020 from Chișinău (MD-2012), due to the health crisis linked to Covid-19 and to the stopping of postal exchanges in most countries.
This letter indeed concerns the special postmark put into circulation on March 20, 2020 to commemorate the 200th anniversary (day to day) of the birth of Alexandru Ioan Cuza (1820-1873), who was Sovereign Prince (Domnitor) of Moldavia and Wallachia between 1859 and 1862 then the 1st sovereign of Romania (following the union of the Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia) between 1862 and 1866.
Alexandru Ioan Cuza is in the spotlight on the souvenir sheet (6.20 L, print run: 10,000) used on the right on this envelope, issued on November 14, 2008, in the series (started in 1993!) devoted to the Princes of Moldavia.

The term Moldova (especially in French, a unique term Moldova being used for Moldavia and Moldova) is often a source of confusion in history, Alexandru Ioan Cuza having been sovereign of the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia, the Principality of Moldavia designating at that time, the eastern part of present-day Romania, not to be confused with the Republic of Moldova as we know it today which was then part of Bessarabia ...
This "Princes of Moldavia" stamp set initiated by the Post of Moldova is therefore also confusing since Alexandru Ioan Cuza was not ruler of Bessarabia or Moldova, unless I am mistaken.
Alexandru Ioan Cuza was, however, an important figure in the Revolution of 1848 in the Principality of Moldavia and initiated a series of reforms which contributed to the modernization of Romanian society and its state structures.
The background of this souvenir sheet above represents him arriving at the Dealul Mitropoliei in Bucharest to be elected Prince of Moldavia and Wallachia (the coats of arms of the 2 Principalities are featured at the top right).
The other stamp (15.50 L), issued on October 9, 2019, is dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the creation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

This postmark (Prince's monogram) evoking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, has been applied to the special envelope above, issued in very limited edition, designed by Niall!
The personalized stamp (1.75 L) above was specially created for the occasion, designed from a portrait of the prince and a medal (or seal?) dating from 1859 mentioning the Prince's name and these United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia (also reproduced on the envelope on the left).
The mention "last ruler of Moldavia" (not to be confused with "last ruler of Moldova") also appears on this envelope, probably in reference to the creation of the Romanian United Principalities from 1862.

Alexandru Ioan Cuza was dismissed in 1866, replaced by Carol I, and spent the rest of his life in exile in Paris, Vienna and Wiesbaden.
The year 2009 was a jubilee year in the Republic of Moldova with a whole series of cultural and philatelic (!) events dedicated to the celebrations of the 650th anniversary of the founding of the Principality of Moldova (or Moldavia) in 1359.
On this occasion, postcards representing portraits of Princes of Moldavia were published by the Post of Moldova in 2009 such as the one above (print run: 1,000), with the same portrait of Alexandru Ioan Cuza as the one on the souvenir sheet issued in 2008.

Tribute to the religious sister Katharina Kasper (1820-1898) on FDC from Germany

On June 4, 2020, the Deutsche Post put into circulation a stamp (€ 1.55) dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the religious sister Katharina Kasper (1820-1898), venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church.
This stamp, designed by Jens Müller and printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, features a portrait of the nun (dating from 1890) and a quote "In allem und überall geschehe der heilige Wille Gottes" ("May the holy will of God be done in everything and everywhere").
Thank you very much Jens for this nice cover with this stamp, with Firts Day cancellation (inspired by a circular stained glass?) from Berlin!
Katharina Kasper, born in the Westerwald region in a poor peasant family, was convinced from an early age that her commitment to others who needed help was God's will.

With other women, she founded in 1848 a "pious association", which was dedicated to the care of the sick and the elderly as well as to the care of children, but also regularly seeking common prayer.
Katharina Kasper, who herself could not attend school regularly, recognized early on the importance of school education, especially for girls.
Carried by piety and a deep trust in God, her personality was characterized by kindness, prudence and courage.
She worked all her life to alleviate the various forms of miseries of the time and in this sense founded the Congregation of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1851.
When Katharina Kasper died in 1898, she left behind a great work and a sister community, which numbered over 1,700 members and worked in five countries. This community, spread over five continents, now has around 600 sisters.
Her life and her work received special recognition in the Catholic Church: after her beatification in 1978 by Paul VI, Pope Francis presided over her canonization ceremony on October 14, 2018.

"Adam Ondra - 100 days before Tokyo 2020" slogan cancellation on cover from Czech Republic

On April 14, 2020, a pictorial cancellation was to be put into circulation by the Czech Post, in collaboration with the Czech association of thematic philately "Olympsport" (sport and Olympism), exactly 100 days before the opening of the Tokyo Olympics, which were to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020.
What is strange for me is that the decision to postpone these games due to the international health crisis, had been taken by the IOC and the Japanese authorities as of March 24, 2020 ...
This slogan cancellation was however put back into circulation on June 24, 2020, applied to the letter below by the main post office of Prague 1. Thank you very much Slavek!
This cancellation mentions these 100 days before Tokyo 2020 and the initial date of April 14, 2020, as well as a portrait of Adam Ondra as a Czech medal hope in these games.

Adam Ondra (born in 1993) holds many climbing records, given his young age, having completed some of the most difficult climbing routes around the world.
Winner of the climbing world cup 7 times, 5 times world champion, Adam Ondra will indeed have a great chance for a medal during these games in 2021, sport climbing being one of the new sports on the program.
The stamp above (19 CZK), issued on June 14, 2006, is dedicated to the Bohemian Switzerland National Park ("Národní park České Švýcarsko"), created in 2000 in the north of the country, and in particular to the spectacular gorges of the Kamnitz river. The unique geology and geomorphology of the sandstone rocks, the rugged topography (practice of rock climbing) and the rich biodiversity are the main objects of protection in this national park.
To note this additional label (20 CZK) to reach the current tariff (39 CZK) for a priority shipment up to 50g to European countries.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp on cover from Monaco

This EUROPA stamp, illustrating the theme of the ancient postal routes, was to be put into circulation in the Principality of Monaco on May 6, 2020 but printing delays (at the Phil@poste printing house in Boulazac) due to the Covid-19 health crisis, have postponed this issue to the end of June or the beginning of July it seems ...
This stamp (€ 1.40, print run: 40,000), printed in sheetlet of 10 stamps as usual, was used on the cover below sent on July 13, 2020 from Monaco (with a postmark of the OETP - "Office des Émissions de Timbres-Poste").
I quite like this stamp, one of the only two engraved EUROPA stamps issued in 2020 (the other being issued by France), whose engraving is by Pierre Albuisson.

This stamp represents a messenger responsible for delivering mail in the 18th century (holding a letter in the right hand and a kind of spear in the other hand) with in the background a view of the Rocher (Rock of Monaco) of the time.
To note that the OETP has reinterpreted the EUROPA 2020 theme in "The old means of mail transport in the 18th century", the mention which appears in the margins of this sheetlet, also including the EUROPA logo (see above) and " PostEurop 2020 competition "...
To note also this milestone lower left on this stamp, in the colors of the Grimaldi dynasty, which was to indicate a postal route at the time.
The Principality of Monaco saw significant postal traffic from the middle of the 17th century and the first known postmark dates from 1704.
The Monegasque postal service was then provided by France, following the Franco-Monegasque Treaty of Friendship of Péronne, signed in 1640 by King Louis XIII and Prince Honoré II.

Tribute to Hellenist Jacqueline de Romilly on cover from France

On February 10, 2020 (general sale), the French Post put into circulation a stamp (€ 1.16, print run: 700,000) paying tribute to an exceptional woman, the philologist, essayist, translator, professor at the Collège de France and Hellenist Jacqueline de Romilly (1913-2010) on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of her death.
Jacqueline de Romilly held a chair at the Collège de France entitled "Greece and the formation of moral and political thought".
She was the first woman professor at the Collège de France (1973), then the first woman elected to the Académie des inscriptions et belles lettres (1975) and the second woman elected to the French Academy (1988), after Marguerite Yourcenar.

Specialist in Greek civilization and language, Jacqueline de Romilly is the author of numerous works on this period, notably about the historian Thucydides, the theater of Aeschylus and Euripides and the Peloponnesian war.
She received Greek nationality from Greece in 1995, on an honorary basis, and in 2000 was appointed Ambassador of Hellenism.
This stamp, created by Eloïse Oddos (from a portrait of Jacqueline de Romilly in her academician outfit) and engraved by Pierre Albuisson, was used on the letter above, with a cancellation, dated June 25, 2020, from the "Service des Oblitérations Philatéliques" ("Philatelic cancellations' Department"), located since 2017 in Boulazac (24), headquarters of Phil@poste printing house.

Symbol of Love and Covid-19 on cover from Thailand

Since 2011, the Thailand Post has issued a stamp entitled "Symbol of Love" every year.
On February 7, 2020, a new stamp (5 Baht) was put into circulation, printed in sheetlet of 10 stamps, depicting a teddy bear hugging a heart, with heart-shaped (and glitter) flowers in the background.
This stamp (print run: 800,000), designed by Euamporn Supharoekchai, was used in three copies on the pretty cover below sent on June 7, 2020 from the Sam Sen Nai post office in the Phaya Thai district (central Bangkok), where the Thai Philatelic Museum is located. Thank you very much Thapanaphong!
2020 corresponding to the year 2563 according to the Buddhist calendar.

Thapanaphong used two other identical stamps (1 Baht), being part of a definitive series (9 stamps) issued on August 14, 2017, devoted to a traditional Thai pavilion, part of the Thailand's Cultural Center in Bangkok. This pavilion was built as a Thailand-Japan Friendship Memorial.
To note this cachet at the bottom left, applied with red ink by the Thai Philatelic Museum, evoking the 1st case of Covid-19 confirmed in the country, on January 13, 2020.
This 1st case was identified on a Chinese tourist from Wuhan who was scanned on January 8 at the Bangkok airport. Indeed, the Thai authorities reacted quickly by analyzing, from January 3, 2020 (i.e. 3 days after the official announcement of cases in Wuhan), all people arriving from China at various Thai airports.
Thailand (58 people who have died since the start of the pandemic) is considered as one of the countries in the world best prepared to face major health disasters such as epidemics.

"Tokyo 2020 - looking to the future" stamp on FDC from Belgium

Merci beaucoup Jacques !
For the first time in history, the Summer Olympics which were to take place in Tokyo from July 24 to August 9, 2020 have been postponed for a year and will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021 ...
Like many other postal administrations, the Belgian Post bpost had planned to issue a stamp on this theme and decided to postpone this issue until 2021.
But another stamp was designed (by Kris Maes) and printed in record time, between the decision to postpone these games on March 24, 2020 and the issue date on June 15, 2020, also focusing on Olympism but with a necessarily different message!
This stamp ("1 World" rate for a shipment up to 50g - € 1.77 currently from 5 stamps purchased) is present on the nice cover below, with First Day cancellation from Brussels. Thank you very much Jacques!

Printed in a sheetlet of 5 stamps (print run: 25,535 sheetlets), this stamp "aims to highlight the permanent effort of Belgian athletes and their struggle for continual self-improvement".
This issue also aims to encourage Belgian athletes who, after the disappointment of the postponement of these games, must rebuild themselves until next year.
This stamp thus represents silhouettes of runners (men and women), displaying the colors of the Belgian flag, giving the impression of moving towards the future, with the presence also of the logo of Team Belgium and of a Japanese Shinto portal.
A slogan inspired by the Olympic motto, "Always faster, higher, stronger, towards 2021!" appears in the margin of this sheetlet.
To date, around 70 Belgian athletes (in 11 different sports) have qualified for these Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Above the design of the stamp that was initially planned for these Tokyo 2020 games (to note this mention Japan 2020 rather than Tokyo 2020 ...).
Also designed by Kris Maes, this stamp should therefore be issued in 2021 ...
To note that some postal administrations (Liechtenstein, Cyprus, North Macedonia ...) have however maintained the issue of stamps dedicated to these Tokyo games in 2020.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp set on FDC from Bulgaria

Thank you very much Borislav for this splendid official FDC, sent by registered mail from Sofia, regarding the EUROPA series (2 stamps - 1.10 and 2.30 leva) issued on June 29, 2020 by the Bulgarian Post, dedicated this year to the ancient postal routes ("Древни пощенски маршрути" in Bulgarian).
To note on this letter the mark "Таxe perçue" in French and the associated value (4.30 leva) in order to reach the tariff in force (7.70 leva) for a priority registered shipment up to 20g to France.
As in previous years, the Bulgarian Post has put into circulation this EUROPA set (design: Stanimir Jelev) in several versions: sheetlet made up of 8 stamps (4 stamps of each) + 1 central label (print run: 4,000 sheetlets), booklet of 8 stamps (4 stamps of each, print run: 4,000 booklets) and souvenir sheet with the 2 stamps (print run: 8,000).

I really like this series because it evokes the old Roman road "Via Militaris" (or "Via Diagonalis"), which ensured a link between East and West and was as such one of the essential strategic axes of the 'Roman Empire.
This route linked Belgrade to Constantinople, passing through the current Bulgarian territory, in particular the cities of Philippopolis (today Plovdiv) and Serdica (today Sofia), mentioned on the two stamps of this series, designed from the famous Peutinger Table (13th century), a copy of an old Roman map showing the main roads and towns of the Roman Empire.
To note also on the 1.10 leva stamp this Roman bas-relief representing a carriage ("Journey to the underworld") walled up today in the church of the village of Maria Saal, Austria, a place of pilgrimage known for its St Mary's sanctuary.
This bas-relief, which seems to constitute the oldest representation of a postal transport (?), was discovered in a tomb in the ancient Roman city of Virunum (Carinthia, southern Austria).
To note that this same bas-relief is also featured on EUROPA 2020 stamps issued by Bosnia-Herzegovina (HP Mostar), North Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia.

"Astronomical phenomena" stamp set on FDCs from Taiwan

In order to encourage people to understand astronomical phenomena, the Chunghwa Post of Taiwan released on June 21, 2020, an interesting series consisting of 4 stamps and a souvenir sheet.
These 4 stamps (print run: 648,000, design: Delta Design Corporation) were each printed in a sheet made up of 18 stamps as well as in a single souvenir sheet (print run: 620,000 souvenir sheets).
A big thank you George for these 5 splendid covers each concerning this souvenir sheet and these 4 stamps (in 2 copies), canceled with specific postmarks put into circulation on the first day of issue in 4 different Taiwanese cities!

The souvenir sheet above (with part of the Milky Way in the background?) therefore brings together the 4 stamps of this pretty series, respectively evoking an annular solar eclipse, a comet, a total solar eclipse and a total lunar eclipse.
The postmark above (annular solar eclipse) was applied by a temporary office set up in the Taipei Astronomical Museum.

This same postmark was applied on the cover above including 2 copies of the "annular solar eclipse" stamp (NT $ 6).
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are perfectly aligned with the Earth, but the apparent size of the moon is slightly smaller than that of the sun, i.e. the sun appears as a very shining ring surrounding the lunar disk.
To note that an annular solar eclipse took place on June 21, 2020 (the 15th annular eclipse of the 21st century), the first day of issue of this stamp set, starting in Central Africa, then crossing Asia (including Taiwan) to finish in the Pacific Ocean.

A comet is depicted with a starry sky in background on the 2nd stamp of this set above (NT $ 6), with a cancellation applied here by the Central Taiwan Nantou post office.
Comets are small bodies in the solar system. Those in an elliptical orbit will return after circling the sun and are called periodic comets, such as famous Halley comet, which returns about every 76 years.
Several comets were observed in 2020 such as C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) or C/2020 F8 (SWAN).

A total solar eclipse is shown on the 2 stamps above (NT $ 8), with an associated postmark applied by the Xinzhu Wuzhang post office.
A total eclipse occurs when the sun is completely obscured by the moon. The intensely luminous solar disk is replaced by a black lunar silhouette, and most of the solar corona is visible.
Such an eclipse usually only lasts a few minutes. The sky darkens as if night had fallen.

The last stamp in this series above (NT $ 8) evokes the different phases of a total lunar eclipse, with cancellations from the Taizhong post office.
When the Sun, Earth, and Moon are in almost perfect alignment and the Moon falls completely into Earth's shadow, a total lunar eclipse occurs.
At such times, only the longer wavelength red light from the sun shines on the moon by refraction through the Earth's atmosphere, producing a deep red appearance.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) s/s on cover from Sweden

As a reminder, PostNord AB (its name was changed to become PostNord in 2011) is the name of the holding company resulting from the merger of the two postal administrations of Sweden (Posten AB) and Denmark (Post Danmark) in June 2009. This company, with around 50,000 employees, is controlled by the Swedish state (60%) and the Danish state (40%).
Despite this common entity, the two countries decide each of their stamp issuing policy.
To illustrate the EUROPA theme chosen by PostEurop this year, the ancient postal routes ("gamla postvägar" in Swedish), the 2 countries have chosen the old postal route which linked the cities of Stockholm and Hamburg, with a focus on this route on Swedish territory on the one hand and a focus on this route between Copenhagen and Hamburg on the other hand.
A big thank you Rune for sending this letter stamped with this Swedish EUROPA souvenir sheet (3 stamps, 2 with the EUROPA logo), sent on May 15, 2020 from the city of Torslanda (part of the municipality of Gothenburg)!

I really love this souvenir sheet (also the Danish souvenir sheet) issued on April 30, 2020, designed by Gustav Mårtensson from illustrations by Lars Sjööblom, evoking different elements of this ancient postal route established in the 17th century between Stockholm and Denmark.
The middle stamp (22 SEK) reproduces in particular an old map (dating from 1698) on which appears several portions of this route from Stockholm, passing through the towns of Jönköping and Halmstad (route created in 1646), or Markaryd (1620-1646), with the port of Helsingborg as its terminus.
A milestone (dating from 1674) which ran along this postal route is also featured on this stamp.
A postilion on horseback, playing the horn, is depicted on the stamp on the left (22 SEK), the 3rd stamp (22 SEK) showing part of the equipment of these postilions who carried mail on these postal routes.
This series was designed in collaboration with the Enigma Postal Museum in Copenhagen, the Nordic Museum in Stockholm and the Halland Art Museum in Halmstad.

"Olympic Games Tokyo 2020" stamp set on FDC from Liechtenstein

Due to the Covid-19 health crisis, the Summer Olympic games which were to take place in Tokyo from July 24 to August 9, 2020 have been postponed for a year and will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021, under the title "Tokyo 2020", an unprecedented event in the long history of the Olympic Games ...
Since this postponement decision was only taken after the stamps on this topic were printed, the Liechtenstein Post did not wish to destroy them and maintained their issue date initially scheduled for June 2, 2020.
These two stamps (print run: 48,000), printed by Gutenberg AG in 4-color offset and silver hot-foil stamping, are present on the very colorful official FDC below, with postmark from Vaduz, with the emblem of the National Olympic Committee of Liechtenstein, consisting of the Olympic rings and the princely crown, on the postmark and the two stamps.

As has been the case since 2008 (Olympic Games in Beijing), the Liechtenstein Post again had the good idea to call on an artist living in the country where these games take place for the design of this series, Keiko Yamano, who painted the two motifs "Synchronized Swimming" (CHF 1.70) and "Judo" (CHF 2.80) in acrylic.
She produces most of her works in oil using traditional Japanese colours, but she also masters the art of calligraphy (she mainly shows her works at exhibitions in her home city of Tokyo).
To date, at least one athlete from Liechtenstein, swimmer Julia Hassler, has qualified for these Tokyo games in 2021.
To note that during its 17 previous participations in the Summer Olympics (since 1936), Liechtenstein has not won any medals (but 10 medals at the Winter Olympics).
A "Judo" stamp had already been issued in 2016 for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games ...

"Writer and philosopher Lucian Blaga (1895-1961)" prepaid envelope from Moldova

He was also an important playwright, novelist and diplomat. But he will also remain as a political prisoner of the communist regime, which will force him to silence and lead him to exhaustion, then to death.
Very marked by his native Transylvania, he developed during the 1930s a metaphysics of culture and unconscious which makes the village, this place of life, the awareness of oneself, advocating the idea that the history and folklore are fundamental areas to affirm the individuality of a people.
