"900th Anniversary of the Consecration of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice" joint s/s with San Marino, on cover from Italy

Merci beaucoup Salvatore !
On October 8, 1994, the postal administrations of Italy and San Marino released a joint stamp commemorating the 900th anniversary of the consecration of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice.
Each country issued this stamp (750 ITL; design: F. Ramberti) separately, accompanied by an attached label noting the theme of the joint series (print run: 300,000 for San Marino, 4,000,000 for Italy).
A souvenir sheet (print run: 1,000,000) was also put into circulation, featuring the stamps from both countries arranged *tête-bêche*; each stamp bore a note on the back stating that it could only be used in its respective country.
Unless I am mistaken, this was the world's first joint souvenir sheet to include stamps from multiple different countries!
This souvenir sheet appears on the cover below, bearing an Italian postmark (Imola) dated April 29, 2026, and a blue, undated special cancellation from the San Marino Post Office's Philatelic and Numismatic Service. Many thanks, Salvatore!

Salvatore sent me this cover inside another envelope, as the postage paid (1,500 ITL) was insufficient for a standard shipment (B Zone 1) to France—which currently costs €1.35 (2,614 ITL)...
I find this souvenir sheet magnificent; each stamp depicts the west façade of St. Mark's Basilica—arguably one of Venice's most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
Built in 828 and reconstructed after the fire that devastated the Doge's Palace in 976, St. Mark's Basilica has served as the cathedral of the Patriarch of Venice since 1807. It is located in St. Mark's Square, in the San Marco district.
St. Mark's is a domed church modeled after Byzantine structures; it features a Greek cross plan measuring 76 meters in length and 63 meters in width. The central dome covers the crossing point of the four arms, each of which is topped by its own dome. The main domes reach a height of 45 meters.
The constant reliance on Byzantine artistic models is due to the Republic of Venice's close ties with Byzantium. The influence of the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople (536–546) appears to be the most significant. While 13th-century additions—particularly the magnificent golden mosaics—remained true to the spirit of Byzantine art, the 14th century saw the deliberate introduction of the Gothic style.

"Two humanitarians: Queen Maria of Yugoslavia and her lady-in-waiting Franja Tavčar" joint s/s with Serbia, on cover from Slovenia

On June 12, 2026, the postal administrations of Slovenia and Serbia issued a joint souvenir sheet honoring two remarkable humanitarian women : Queen Maria of Yugoslavia and her lady-in-waiting, Franja Tavčar.
Their close friendship, spanning from 1925 to 1938, united them in selfless devotion to destitute students; sick, infirm, or abandoned women; prisoners of war and other detainees; and, above all, children.
The Slovenian version of this souvenir sheet (rate "C" for standard international mail - currently €1.96, print run: 10,000), designed by Nadežda Skočajić (Serbian Post), was used on the cover below, sent on June 22, 2026, from the city of Kranj. Many thanks, Petra!
Queen Maria (1900-1961), born a Princess of Romania, was the wife of King Alexander I. Following his tragic assassination in France in 1934, she continued her charitable activities with renewed determination.
Within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, she actively collaborated with the Yugoslav Red Cross Committee and the St. John Society, while also establishing an aid fund for impoverished and sick children as well as the elderly.

After falling ill in 1939, she settled in the United Kingdom; during the Second World War, she organized the shipment of aid to occupied Yugoslavia from there, working through the International Committee of the Red Cross in London. Under the pseudonym Mary Djordjevic, she provided support to over 200,000 detainees, prisoners of war, and internees across Europe.
Franja Tavčar was born in Ljubljana in 1868. Orphaned at a very young age, she was deeply affected by this ordeal, which shaped the course of her life. As the wife of the writer and politician Ivan Tavčar, she dedicated her fortune to charitable causes.
She presided over the Ljubljana Women's Association and was actively involved in the Cyril and Methodius Society, the General Association of Slovenian Women, and the Sokol Women's Gymnastics Society.
She paid special attention to the education of girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Through the Red Cross, she provided aid to Balkan nations in conflict and, in 1910, received the Order of Saint Sava from the Kingdom of Serbia.
In 1925, she became a lady-in-waiting to Queen Marie and founded the Home for Mothers and Children in Ljubljana; there, she cared for abandoned mothers and sick children, notably enabling them to recuperate at her seaside home in Kraljevica.
She commissioned the construction of the "Jozefišče," a home for disabled women, and provided meals to needy students at her Ljubljana residence, while also supporting artists such as Josip Murn, Ivana Kobilca, Ivan Vavpotič, and others. In 1928, she became the first woman to be named an honorary citizen of Ljubljana.

"Fauna - 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations" joint stamp set with the Philippines, on cover from Russia

Merci beaucoup Youri !
To mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (specifically between the Philippines and the USSR at the time, on June 2, 1976), the postal administrations of the Russian Federation and the Republic of the Philippines issued a joint series (two stamps) dedicated to local wildlife on June 18, 2026.
Although relations date back to the early 19th century, the two countries now cooperate particularly in the fields of security, agriculture, and space research.
The Russian post issued these two stamps (35 RUB; design: Eunice Beatrix W. Dubu / Kh. Mirzoev) in a single sheet containing eight self-adhesive stamps (four of each; print run: 27,000 sheets).
Two copies of the Russian version of this joint series have been used on the cover below, sent from Saint Petersburg on June 22, 2026. Many thanks, Yuri!

The great jerboa (*Allactaga major*) is an animal of wide-open spaces, inhabiting deserts as well as steppe and wooded-steppe zones across Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China, extending as far south as Uzbekistan.
It resembles a composite creature—part rat, part rabbit (due to its relatively long ears), and part kangaroo (due to its rapid bipedal hopping locomotion)—and possesses a long tail that acts as a counterbalance.
This species is not considered endangered by the IUCN.
The other stamp depicts the Philippine mouse-deer (*Tragulus nigricans*), a small mammal endemic to Balabac Island and the nearby smaller islands of Bugsuk and Ramos, located southwest of Palawan province in the Philippines.
This species is threatened by habitat loss—driven primarily by the expansion of agricultural land—and by hunting.

"100 Years of the Bucharest - Galați - Chișinău Airmail Service" joint stamp set with Romania, on FDCs from Moldova

Following the 1920 Peace Treaty of Trianon, Romania established the world's first transcontinental airline for the regular transport of passengers, freight, and mail on April 21, 1920: the "Compagnie franco-roumaine de navigation aérienne" (CFRNA).
CFRNA's flight schedule included the Paris - Constantinople route, with planned stops in Strasbourg, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Arad, Belgrade, and Bucharest.
In 1925, the city of Galați was designated as Romania's first domestic destination. A 62-day experiment was conducted to assess the profitability of flights between Bucharest and Galați using French-made Potez XV aircraft.
On September 15, 1925, a Potez XV aircraft, carrying several officers from Bucharest, transported mail that had been handed over in Chișinău at a postal counter set up within the grounds of the General Exhibition of Bessarabia (August 15 - September 30, 1925).

On June 24, 1926, domestic air service on the Bucharest - Galați - Chișinău route was officially inaugurated in the presence of King Ferdinand, the royal family, and the diplomatic corps.
Havilland DH 9 aircraft manufactured in the United Kingdom were used. The Paris Mint celebrated the event by striking a silver-plated bronze medal.
The organization and operation of modernized airmail transport were further expanded on September 1, 1928, with the introduction of the Bucharest - Galați - Chișinău - Cernăuți route. To mark the occasion, the General Directorate of Posts, Telegraphs, and Telephones (PTT) issued the first stamps bearing the inscription "Poșta Aeriană" ("Air Mail"); known among philatelists as the "C. Raiu" issue, this is considered the beginning of Romanian aerophilately.
On June 24, 2026, the postal administrations of Romania and Moldova released an interesting joint issue (2 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet; design by George Ursachi, Eugeniu Verebceanu) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of this first Bucharest - Galați - Chișinău airmail service.

A big thank you, Nicolae, for sending these two official First Day Covers—featuring the two stamps and the souvenir sheet from this joint issue, respectively—with postmarks from Chișinău (MD-2012)!

The souvenir sheet (13.50 MDL; print run: 25,000) depicts a mail transport aircraft operated on this postal route starting in 1926, along with a correspondence envelope and an illustrated flight route.
A postal imprint used to commemorate the inauguration of this airmail service is reproduced on the left side of both envelopes.
The two stamps above (print run: 25,000 each) have been printed each in sheetlets containing 8 stamps and 4 labels.
The stamp above on the left (5 MDL) depicts a Havilland DH 9 aircraft flying over above a viaduct over a landscape of Moldova, en route to Galați while the other stamp (12 MDL) features the same design as the souvenir sheet.

"100 Years of the FIP - Fédération Internationale de Philatélie" s/s on FDC from Cyprus

The Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP - International Federation of Philately) was founded on June 18, 1926, in Paris by representatives from six countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
From the outset, the FIP has worked to promote stamp collecting and philately, foster friendship among nations, maintain ties with the philatelic sector and postal administrations, and support philatelic exhibitions through its patronage and recognition.
Today, the FIP brings together 90 national federations; with them, it organizes conferences and seminars for aspiring jurors during its exhibitions and shapes the evolution of collecting and exhibiting practices by introducing new competitive classes.
Finally, it sponsors and co-organizes—alongside national federations—world exhibitions (both general and specialized) that serve as the true "Olympic Games" of philately.

The FIP is thus celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026, and a number of postal administrations have issued - or will issue - stamps on this theme, most featuring the official 100th-anniversary logo: Belarus, Monaco, Dominican Republic, Serbia, Thailand, Bulgaria, Russia, Slovenia, Romania, Brazil, Uruguay, Israel, Cyprus, Jordan, Pakistan, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo), United Arab Emirates, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Greece, and others.
On May 11, 2026, Cyprus Post released a numbered souvenir sheet (€1.00, print run: 10,000; design: Prodromos Apostolou) on this theme; it appears on the official First Day Cover above (print run: 3,500).
The stamp features both the FIP emblem and the 100th-anniversary logo; a magnifying glass positioned over a stylized stamp in the bottom right corner highlights the FIP's primary objective: encouraging the development of stamp collecting.
The Cyprus Philatelic Society has been a member of the FIP since 1987.

"60 Years of Diplomatic Relations" joint stamp set with Singapore, on cover from Japan

Following a joint series in 2016 (pottery and ceramics) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan, the postal administrations of the two countries put into circulation a new joint set (two stamps) on April 27, 2026, depicting emblematic flowers, to mark the 60th anniversary of these relations.
This is undoubtedly a reference to the blooming friendship that has bound Singapore and Japan for 60 years. Since the establishment of official relations in 1966, the partnership between the two nations has steadily strengthened. What began as economic cooperation has evolved into a deep and multifaceted friendship, encompassing technology, culture, and shared regional objectives.
A major milestone in bilateral relations was reached in 2002 with the signing of the Japan-Singapore Economic Partnership Agreement (JSEPA). This document constituted the first economic partnership agreement concluded by Japan with another country.

The Japanese Post issued these two stamps (110 JPY each) in a sheetlet of 10 self-adhesive stamps (5 of each, print run: 400,000 sheetlets), printed in France by Cartor Security Printing.
These two stamps have been used on the cover above, sent on May 21, 2026, from Yokohama (Mankigahara district). Thank you very much, Mitsuhiko!
Note the pictorial postmark (cherry blossoms and Shinkansen bullet train) including the date in the format "8.5.21", a reminder that Japan is in 2026 in the 8th year of the Reiwa era ("era of beautiful harmony"), which began in 2019 following the abdication of Emperor Akihito and the enthronement of Naruhito.
Designed by Akira Tamaki from original paintings by Junko Kaibuchi, these two stamps respectively illustrate cherry blossoms (sakura) and the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid, Singapore's national flower since 1981.
Sakura blossoms, ranging from white to pale pink to deep pink, have become a major symbol of spring in Japan. Their blooming, celebrated during hanami ("flower viewing"), has made the sakura the national flower of Japan.
The Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid is named after its creator, Miss Agnes Joaquim, a second-generation Armenian horticulturist born in Singapore in 1854. She was the first woman in the world to develop a hybrid orchid, which was recognized in 1893 by the director of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
In 1981, the Vanda Miss Joaquim was selected as Singapore's national flower from among 40 flowers, 30 of which were orchids. This flower was chosen in particular for its vibrant colors, hardiness, and resilience - qualities that reflect the spirit of Singapore as well as its multicultural heritage. Singapore is thus the only country in the world to have a hybrid species as its national flower.

"Peregrine Falcon Migration" joint stamp set with Liechtenstein, on FDC from Gibraltar

On November 10, 2025, the postal administrations of Gibraltar and Liechtenstein released two joint souvenir sheets entitled "The young Peregrine falcon - Migration yesterday and today".
Each souvenir sheet consists of two stamps, one issued by Gibraltar and one by Liechtenstein, illustrating the migration routes of the peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) between the Alps and the Mediterranean.
The two stamps (£1.70) in this joint series issued by Gibraltar, designed by Stephen Perera based on illustrations by Jonathan Pointer, are present on the official first day cover below.
The peregrine falcon is a bird renowned for its power, speed, and grace. Regarded as the fastest animal on Earth, it can reach diving speeds of over 320 km/h when stooping after its prey.
With keen eyesight, estimated to be eight times sharper than that of humans, it hunts prey with remarkable precision. Found on every continent except Antarctica, the peregrine falcon embodies adaptability and endurance.

In Gibraltar, the species nests along the Rock's sheer limestone cliffs, where adults can often be seen soaring above the Strait or perched on coastal ledges scanning the sea below. Its commanding presence above the gateway between Europe and Africa has made it an emblem of vigilance and strength.
In Liechtenstein, the peregrine falcon's domain lies among alpine peaks and valleys, where it glides effortlessly on mountain thermals and nests on rocky crags high above the Rhine Valley.
These contrasting habitats, sea and mountain, beautifully illustrate the bird's global range and its ability to thrive from coastal cliffs to high altitudes.
In this series, each country has depicted the peregrine falcon in its natural habitat: Gibraltar's stamps show it in flight, perched atop the Rock, whilst Liechtenstein's stamps present it soaring with elegance over alpine summits and perched with a mountain valley backdrop.
Together, these four stamps form a collection that unites sea and sky, north and south - two small nations bound by a shared admiration for nature.
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these stamps carry a deeper message of resilience. Once brought to the brink of extinction in parts of Europe due to pesticide use, the peregrine falcon has made one of conservation's greatest comebacks thanks to international protection efforts.

"50 years of reestablishment of diplomatic relations" joint s/s with Egypt, on FDC from Portugal

Portugal and Egypt share a rich and precious historical and cultural heritage, founded on their common civilizational and geographical origins – the Mediterranean and its entire sphere of influence – and millennia-old ties, such as the maritime aspirations of both nations, which have intersected over time.
Together, the two countries embrace the Mediterranean, guardians of opposite ends of the same shared space.
Their shared history bears witness to a continuity spanning more than two millennia, from the trade routes established by the Phoenicians and Greeks, through the Roman Empire, to the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates. The humanities, mathematics, the arts, agricultural techniques, and principles of organization and administration circulated across the Mediterranean, reaching both territories and leaving an indelible historical imprint on their respective cultures.
Both countries continue to prioritize freedom of navigation as a vector for cultural and commercial expansion on oceans, seas and rivers, and this axis remains a pillar of their foreign policy, even in the 21st century.

In 1953, Portugal recognized the Republic of Egypt before severing ties in 1963. On February 25, 1975, diplomatic relations were re-established between the two countries.
On January 26, 2026 (originally December 18, 2025), the postal administrations of both countries issued a beautiful joint souvenir sheet (2 stamps) depicting rivers in an urban setting, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Portugal.
The Portuguese version of this souvenir sheet (2 x €1.45 - International 20g, print run: 20,000, design: MAD Activities / Rodrigo Rodrigues based on illustrations by Mina Safwat) was used on the cover above with First Day cancellation from Lisbon. Thank you very much, Pedro!
The stamp on the left shows a view of the Douro River in Porto, the capital of the Northern region of Portugal, featuring the Maria Pia Bridge, a large railway viaduct (designed by Gustave Eiffel), opened in 1877 and decommissioned in 1991. This bridge is sometimes confused with the Dom Luís I Bridge, built between 1881 and 1886.
The other stamp depicts a view of Cairo from the Nile, a river that has played a vital role in Egypt's development and economy for millennia. It prominently features the imposing Cairo Tower (187 meters high, completed in 1961), located on Gezira Island in the Zamalek residential district.

"Coastal Landscapes" joint stamp set with Cuba, on cover from China

On September 28, 1960, Cuba became the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. This opened new prospects for friendship between China and Latin American countries.
Bilateral relations are based on trade, credit, and investment, which have increased significantly since the 1990s. China is now Cuba's second-largest trading partner after Venezuela.
On September 26, 2000, the postal administrations of China and Cuba issued a joint set (two stamps) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of these diplomatic relations.
The Chinese version of this series (2 x 0.80 yuan, design: Li Defu) was used on the right of the cover below, sent on January 24, 2026, from Beijing. Thank you very much, Ruinan!
This series illustrates coastal landscapes of the two countries: the coconut grove bay on Hainan Island (left) and the Varadero seafront (right).
Located on Cuba's northern coast, Varadero is a popular resort town, one of the largest in the Caribbean, frequented primarily by Canadian and European tourists.

Ruinan used four other stamps, including one (1.50 yuan, design: Du Yukai) from a set of five stamps issued on September 17, 2017, dedicated to various scientific and technological innovation projects, the Chinese pilot research and development project on the Bohai region's breadbasket, launched on April 10, 2013 here, which aims to increase agricultural production in the provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning, and Tianjin.
The stamp on the left (1 yuan, design: Zou Jianjun) is from a series of four stamps issued on August 22, 1996, dedicated to the Western Xia necropolis (dynasty between 1032 and 1227), located at the foot of the Helan Mountains in the Ningxi Autonomous Region. This site contains nine mausoleums and approximately 250 tombs of important figures. This stamp notably depicts a remnant stele discovered in Shouling.
The other 1-yuan stamp (design: Zhu Zhengeng) is part of a series (4 stamps) issued on May 15, 1993, dedicated to democratic patriots who had long collaborated with the Communist Party and participated in the anti-Japanese and anti-Chiang Kai-shek revolutionary process, the struggle for peace and democracy, the overthrow of the Kuomintang (KMT), and the establishment of the People's Republic of China. This stamp features a portrait of Huang Yanpei (1878-1965), an educator, industrialist, politician, and pioneering founder of the Democratic League of China.
The last stamp (1.50 yuan, design: Wang Huming) is part of a series (6 stamps) issued on July 29, 2017, dedicated to representations of the phoenix on Chinese cultural relics, a blue and white porcelain pot decorated with phoenixes and peonies (made during the reign of Daoguang, Qing dynasty) here.

"Pontifical Institute for Christian Archaeology - 100 years" joint stamp with Vatican, on cover from Luxembourg

On December 11, 1925, the Pontifical Institute for Christian Archaeology (PIAC) was founded in Rome at the request of Pope Pius XI, as stated in the Motu Proprio "I primitivi cemeteri".
From the very beginning, the PIAC was intended to work closely with two other research institutions: the Pontificia Accademia Romana di Archeologia (responsible for traditional archaeology) and the Pontificia Commissione di Archeologia Sacra (responsible for managing the catacombs of Rome).
Since 1927, the head office of the PIAC has been located in Via Napoleone III in the centre of Rome.
The PIAC has close ties to Luxembourg: it was the Luxembourgish priest and scientist Johann Peter Kirsch (1861-1941) who was tasked with founding the Institute in 1925.
On November 25, 2025, the postal administrations of Luxembourg and Vatican City issued a joint stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of this Pontifical Institute for Christian Archaeology.

The Luxembourg version of this stamp (€1.70, print run: 30,000), designed by Florence Weiser, was used on the cover above, sent on December 1, 2025, from Esch-sur-Alzette. Thank you very much, Dimitri!
This stamp features a portrait of Johann Peter Kirsch, with the emblem of the Institute behind him - featuring the image of Christ as the "Good Shepherd" in early Christian iconography - and the historic headquarters in Rome.
Johann Peter Kirsch moved to Rome in 1884 as a young priest to study. There he swiftly earned an exceptional reputation and created an international network in both ecclesiastical and academic circles. In 1890, he became professor of patristics and Christian archaeology at the newly founded University of Fribourg in Switzerland. This experience was invaluable to the later founding of the PIAC.
Today, the PIAC is still a teaching and research institution which educates numerous undergraduate and PhD students every year in various branches of Christian archaeology. This is not solely about teaching, as the institute is also involved in international excavations and plays a key role in organising them.

"15th National Games" joint stamp set with China and Hong Kong, on FDC from Macau

It was also the first time in the history of the National Games that they had been co-hosted by multiple provinces.
14,252 athletes, each representing a province of China, as well as some major organizations such as the People's Liberation Army, participated in this event, often called the "Chinese Mini Olympics", competing in 34 sports and 419 events.

"75 Years of Diplomatic Relations" joint stamp set with Thailand, on cover from Laos

Merci beaucoup Edwin !
Laos and Thailand have maintained bilateral relations since the time of their predecessors, the kingdoms of Lan Xang and Ayutthaya, in the 15th century.
The two countries share a border and exhibit linguistic and cultural similarities. The Thai region of Isan, in the northeast of the country, has particularly deep Laotian roots.
Diplomacy has focused on the Mekong River, with the ambition of making it a "river of true peace and friendship." Diplomatic relations between the two modern states were established in 1950, but cross-border cooperation truly began at the end of the Cold War.
On December 19, 2025, the postal administrations of the two countries issued an interesting joint series (two stamps) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of these diplomatic relations.

The Laotian postal service printed these two stamps (20,000 LAK, print run: 6,000 each) in sheets of 20 stamps, as well as in a souvenir sheet (print run: 3,000).
These two stamps have been used on the cover below, sent by registered mail on February 6, 2026, from Vientiane, the capital. Thank you very much, Edwin!

Thailand and Laos have long shared close ties through language, literature, religion, culture, and traditions, including the Naga, a mythical creature revered by both nations as a protector of Buddhism and a symbol of abundance.
Nagas guard nature's treasures, are associated with water, and bring prosperity.
The first stamp (designed by Thaneth Ponchaiwong for the Thai postal service) depicts Phaya Si Satta Nakharat, an emerald green Naga sprinkling water and releasing lotus blossoms, a symbolic gesture of friendship toward the neighboring country and protection over the Mekong River.
The other stamp (designed by Vongsavanh Damlongsouk for the Laotian postal service) features the golden Virupaksha Naga, believed to bring good fortune, success, and happiness to those who believe in this mythical creature.

It is worth noting that the official logo commemorating these 75 years of diplomatic relations is not featured on these two stamps (this is the case on Thai stamps). This logo was unveiled on February 20, 2025, in Bangkok during the official visit of the Laotian Prime Minister.
This gold-toned motif depicts iconic landmarks such as Phra That Sri Song Rak in Thailand and Pha That Luang in Laos. The intricate heart-shaped frame, adorned with national flowers and flags, reflects the deep cultural and historical ties that have flourished over decades.

"200 Years of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution" stamp set on FDC from Jersey

The shipwrecks off the Isle of Man coast in 1822 prompted local resident and philanthropist William Hillary (1771-1847) to "call upon the British nation" to establish "a national institution for the preservation of life and property from shipwreck".
King George IV approved the addition of the word "Royal" to the title on March 20, 1824, thus becoming the Royal National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck, renamed the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) from 1854.
The brave volunteers of the RNLI have been saving lives at sea since 1824 (over 146,000 lives saved), in the waters of all the British Isles, including the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey.
Over the years, much has changed, but the courage and commitment of RNLI lifeguards continues today, helping to achieve their goal: saving everyone.

On March 4, 2024, Jersey Post released a nice set (6 stamps) dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), featured on the official FDC above (unknown print run).
Each stamp in this series embodies the spirit and legacy of the RNLI, tracing its history in Jersey from its beginnings in 1830 with a volunteer team and a boat, kept near Havre des Pas. The stamps feature key moments in the Island’s RNLI history, from the rescue of the yacht Fanny, to the Tamar-class RNLB George Sullivan, which features Corbière Lighthouse in the background, symbolising safety and technology standards.

The logo for this 200th anniversary is reproduced on each stamp, which also includes a map of Jersey.
To note that the postal administrations of Guernsey and the Isle of Man also issued a similar series (6 stamps) on the same theme, with the sixth stamp, dedicated to Sir William Hillary, being identical and eligible for a joint stamp.
This stamp (£2.95) reproduces a portrait of the founder of the RNLI (unknown artist, English school, mid-19th century), shown wearing the robes and Malta cross of a Knight of the Order of St John of Jerusalem.

"150 years of the UPU 1874-2024" stamps on cover from Thailand

In 2024, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) celebrated its 150th anniversary. On October 9, 1874, 22 countries gathered to sign the Treaty of Bern, creating the General Postal Union, which would later become known as the Universal Postal Union (from 1878).
150 years later, the UPU now unites the postal networks of 192 member countries, having realized its founders' vision of establishing a single postal territory to serve people everywhere.
The UPU's theme for its 150th year, "150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations", recognizes this accomplishment, and reinforces its commitment to serve peoples for the decades and centuries to come.
Throughout 2024, the UPU organized a series of events and campaigns in celebration of its rich past, dedicated present and promising future, in particular using the hashtag #UPU150 on social media.

The UPU, a specialized agency of the United Nations (since 1947) headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, is the second oldest international organization after the International Telecommunications Union, and constitutes the main forum for cooperation between global postal sector players.

On October 9, 2024 (World Post Day), the Thai postal service issued a stamp commemorating the 150th anniversary of the UPU.
This stamp (5 THB), printed in a sheetlet of 10, was used three times on the cover above, sent on July 23, 2025 (
2025 corresponding to the year 2568 in the Buddhist calendar) from the Udom Suk Post Office in Bangkok's Bang Na district. Thank you so much, Edwin!
This stamp was designed using the official 150th anniversary logo created by the UPU (by Sonja Denovski) and features the flag of Thailand, a UPU member since July 1, 1885.
Edwin used three other stamps, including one (3 THB) in the lower left corner that appears to be from a sheet of personalized stamps (label on the left + stamp on the right, unknown date of issue) depicting the Bangkok General Post Office
This "General Post Office", also known as the "Grand Postal Building", is a historic building in the Bang Rak district of Bangkok. Opened in 1940 on the former site of the British Legation, it was designed by architects Sarot Sukkhayang and Mew Aphaiwong in a blend of Art Deco and International Style architecture that reflected the ruling People's Party's desire to project a modern and powerful image of the state.

In 2017, the building was converted for use as the new headquarters of the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC). A branch post office of Thailand Post remains at the building, providing postal services to the general public.
