EUROPA 2025 (National Archaeological Discoveries) s/s on FDC from Denmark

Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2025 (Découvertes archéologiques nationales) sur FDC du Danemark 

Pour rappel, le thème choisi par l'association PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA 2025 est intitulé "Découvertes archéologiques nationales" ("Nationale arkæologiske opdagelser" en danois). 
Le 28 mai 2025, la poste danoise (Postnord Danmark) a mis en circulation un intéressant bloc-feuillet (2 timbres) illustrant ce thème, en particulier consacré à des forteresses circulaires de l'âge des Vikings.
Ce bloc-feuillet (50 DKK pour chaque timbre - tarif international "Udland"), conçu par Bertil Skov Jørgensen, figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous avec TAD de Copenhague. 
Les 5 forteresses circulaires d'Aggersborg, de Fyrkat, de Nonnebakken, de Trelleborg et de Borgring (classées au Patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 2023), construites environ entre 970 et 980 sous le règne du roi Harald Gormsson "à la dent bleue", représentent des exemples exceptionnels et une maîtrise technologique de l'architecture militaire. 
As a reminder, the theme chosen by the PostEurop association for the EUROPA 2025 stamps is entitled "National Archaeological Discoveries" ("Nationale arkæologiske opdagelser" in Danish).
On May 28, 2025, the Danish Post (Postnord Danmark) released an interesting souvenir sheet (2 stamps) illustrating this theme, particularly devoted to Viking-Age Ring Fortresses.
This souvenir sheet (50 DKK for each stamp - international "Udland" rate), designed by Bertil Skov Jørgensen, was used on the official FDC below with postmarks from Copenhagen.
The five circular fortresses of Aggersborg, Fyrkat, Nonnebakken, Trelleborg and Borgring (listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2023), built around 970–980 during the reign of King Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson, represent outstanding examples and technological mastery of military architecture. 

Occupant des positions stratégiques à proximité d'importantes voies terrestres et maritimes couvrant la péninsule du Jutland et les îles de Fionie et de Seeland dans l'actuel Danemark, ces 5 forteresses furent toutes construites sur la base d'une conception uniforme, précise, géométrique, évolutive, et ont intégré des éléments de la topographie naturelle à des fins de défense. 
Des vues stylisées aériennes des forteresses d'Aggersborg (la plus imposante des 5 sites, 240 mètres de diamètre, pouvait contenir une garnison de 5000 hommes, logée dans 48 maisons longues) et de Trelleborg (la mieux conservée, 137 mètres de diamètre, avec 15 maisons longues en dehors du site principal) sont représentées sur ces 2 timbres, la marge à droite illustrant des pièces de monnaie, frappées sous le règne du roi Harald Gormsson, découvertes lors de fouilles près de la forteresse de Fyrkat.
Strategically positioned close to important land and sea routes across the Jutland peninsula and on the islands of Funen and Zealand in present-day Denmark, these five fortresses were constructed based on a uniform, precise, geometric, scalable design, and incorporated elements of natural topography for defensive purposes. 
Stylized aerial views of the fortresses of Aggersborg (the largest of the five sites, 240 meters in diameter, could accommodate a garrison of 5,000 men, housed in 48 longhouses) and Trelleborg (the best-preserved, 137 meters in diameter, with 15 longhouses outside the main site) are depicted on these two stamps. The right-hand margin depicts coins minted during the reign of King Harald Gormsson, discovered during excavations near Fyrkat Fortress.  

"King Frederik X - Accession to the throne" joint s/s on FDCs from Denmark and Greenland

Le roi Frederik X (né en 1968) accède au trône du Royaume du Danemark le 14 janvier 2024, le jour de l'abdication de sa mère, la reine Margrethe II, après un règne de 52 ans.
Pour rappel, le royaume de Danemark est composé de trois pays constitutifs réunis sous l'entité politique de l'Unité du Royaume : le Danemark métropolitain, les îles Féroé et le Groenland.
Le 26 mai 2024, jour de son anniversaire, les administrations postales du Danemark (PostNord Danmark), des îles Féroé (Posta) et du Groenland (Tusass Greenland) ont mis en circulation un bloc-feuillet commun (50 DKK, conception : Ella Clausen) célébrant cette accession au trône du roi Frederik X.
King Frederik X (born 1968) accedes to the throne of the Kingdom of Denmark on January 14, 2024, the day of the abdication of his mother, Queen Margrethe II, after a reign of 52 years.
As a reminder, the Kingdom of Denmark is composed of three constituent countries united under the political entity of the Unity of the Kingdom: Metropolitan Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
On May 26, 2024, his birthday, the postal administrations of Denmark (PostNord Danmark), the Faroe Islands (Posta) and Greenland (Tusass Greenland) put into circulation a joint souvenir sheet (50 DKK, design: Ella Clausen) celebrating this accession to the throne of King Frederik X.

 

Les versions danoise et groenlandaise de ce bloc-feuillet commun, incluant le monogramme de Frederik X et la devise "Unis, engagés, pour le Royaume du Danemark" dans la marge sur fond gris métallisé, figurent sur les FDCs officiels ci-dessus et ci-dessous, avec TADs respectifs de Copenhague et Tasiilaq.
Le timbre a été conçu à partir d'une photographie du roi en tenue de gala prise par Steen Evald dans la salle verte des salles de réception royales du palais de Christiansborg.

The Danish and Greenlandic versions of this joint souvenir sheet, including the monogram of Frederik X and the motto "United, committed, for the Kingdom of Denmark" in the margin on a metallic grey background, appear on the official FDCs above and below, with cancellations from Copenhagen and Tasiilaq respectively.

The stamp was designed from a photograph of the King in gala dress taken by Steen Evald in the Green Room of the Royal Reception Rooms at Christiansborg Palace.

 

 

Le roi et son épouse, la reine Mary, ont effectué leur première visite royale au Groenland du 29 juin au 8 juillet 2024. Le couple devrait se rendre aux îles Féroé en juin 2025.
The King and his wife, Queen Mary, made their first royal visit to Greenland from 29 June to 8 July 2024. The couple are expected to visit the Faroe Islands in June 2025.

 

EUROPA 2024 (Underwater Fauna and Flora) s/s on FDC from Denmark

Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2024 (Faune et flore subaquatiques) sur FDC du Danemark

Pour rappel, le thème choisi par l'association PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA émis en 2024, la faune et flore subaquatiques, met en lumière la biodiversité des eaux européennes qui souffrent de la surpêche, de la pollution et du changement climatique et qui doivent être protégées pour les générations futures. 
La poste danoise (Postnord Danmark) a décliné ce thème en "Havets åndedræt" ("Souffle de la mer") à travers un intéressant bloc-feuillet composé de 3 timbres (dont 2 comportant le logo EUROPA) mis en circulation le 23 mai 2024.
Ce bloc-feuillet (50 DKK pour chaque timbre - tarif international "Udland"), conçu par Bertil Skov Jørgensen, figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous avec TAD de Copenhague.  
As a reminder, the theme chosen by the PostEurop association for the EUROPA stamps issued in 2024, underwater fauna and flora, highlights the biodiversity of European waters which suffer from overfishing, pollution and climate change and which must be protected for future generations.
The Danish Post (Postnord Danmark) has declined this theme in "Havets åndedræt" ("Breath of the sea") through an interesting souvenir sheet composed of three stamps (including two with the EUROPA logo) put into circulation on May 23, 2024.

Ce bloc-feuillet illustre le monde fantastique de la mer, des fjords et des détroits qui entourent le Danemark, en particulier différentes espèces d'algues (de gauche à droite) : Ptilota gunneri, Dumontia contorta et Phycodrys rubens.
Ces timbres ont été créés en numérisant des plantes originales séchées provenant de l'herbier de la professeure agrégée émérite Ruth Nielsen.
This souvenir sheet illustrates the fantastic world of the sea, fjords and straits surrounding Denmark, in particular different species of algae (from left to right): Ptilota gunneri, Dumontia contorta and Phycodrys rubens.
These stamps have been created by scanning original dried plants from the herbarium of Emeritus Associate Professor Ruth Nielsen. 

EUROPA 2023 (Peace - the highest value of humanity) m/s on cover from Denmark

Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2023 (La Paix - la valeur humaine la plus importante) sur lettre du Danemark

Sur proposition de la poste ukrainienne, le thème choisi par l'organisation PostEurop pour les timbres EUROPA 2023 est "La Paix - la valeur humaine la plus importante", en écho à l'agression du pays par la Russie débutée en février 2022.
Ce choix sonne comme un rappel de la volonté qui avait présidé en 1950 à la création de l'Union européenne après la 2ème Guerre mondiale, résumée par Robert Schuman en une formule désormais célèbre : faire l'Europe pour faire la Paix.
Pour illustrer ce thème 2023, PostEurop a organisé un concours au sein des pays membres et c'est le projet "Nœud de la paix" de la poste luxembourgeoise (auteurs : Linda Bos et Runa Egilsdottir - A Designers' Collective) qui a été choisi, parmi 29 propositions.
Ce projet représente des cœurs entrelacés, et des mains aux doigts entremêlés, inspirés des nœuds d'amour celtiques. Les différentes couleurs renvoient à tous les pays du monde, unis par ce nouveau symbole de paix, une sorte de société fondée sur la coopération, dans laquelle les individus sont solidaires.
On the proposal of the Ukrainian Post, the theme chosen by the PostEurop organization for the EUROPA 2023 stamps is "Peace - the highest value of humanity", echoing the aggression of the country by Russia which started on February 2022.
This choice sounds like a reminder of the will that presided over the creation of the European Union in 1950 after the Second World War, summed up by Robert Schuman in a now famous formula: make Europe to make Peace.
To illustrate this 2023 theme, PostEurop organized a competition within the member countries and the Luxembourg Post's "Peace Knot" project (authors: Linda Bos and Runa Egilsdottir - A Designers' Collective) was chosen from among 29 proposals.
This project represents intertwined hearts, and hands with intertwined fingers, inspired by Celtic love knots. The different colors refer to all the countries of the world, united by this new symbol of peace, a kind of society based on cooperation, in which individuals stand together.

Le 4 mai 2023, la poste danoise (PostNord Danmark) a mis en circulation, uniquement sous la forme d'un bloc-feuillet, ce timbre EUROPA commun (36 DKK) ainsi qu'un autre timbre (12 DKK), ne comportant pas le logo EUROPA.
Ce bloc-feuillet, incluant la mention simplifiée "Ensemble pour la paix" ("Sammen for fred"), a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 5 décembre 2023 depuis la municipalité de Birkerød (nord de Copenhague). Merci beaucoup Rune !
Le timbre à droite a été conçu à partir d'un timbre émis le 4 mai 1970 (gravé par Povl Christensen) pour commémorer le 25ème anniversaire de la fin de l'occupation allemande et la libération du pays.
Chaque année, le 4 mai, les danois éclairent leurs fenêtres avec des bougies, en signe de paix et de souvenir envers tous ceux qui sont tombés au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. 
On May 4, 2023, the Danish Post (PostNord Danmark) put into circulation, only in the form of a miniature sheet, this common EUROPA stamp (36 DKK) as well as another stamp (12 DKK), not including the EUROPA logo.
This miniature sheet, including the simplified mention "Together for peace" ("Sammen for fred"), was used on the cover above sent on December 5, 2023 from the municipality of Birkerød (northern outskirts of Copenhagen). Thank you very much Rune!
The stamp on the right was designed from a stamp issued on May 4, 1970 (engraved by Povl Christensen) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the end of the German occupation and the liberation of the country.
Every year on May 4, Danes light their windows with candles, as a sign of peace and remembrance to all those who fell during the Second World War.

EUROPA 2022 (Stories and Myths) souvenir sheet on cover from Denmark

L'île danoise de Bornholm jouit d'une certaine renommée chez les amateurs de créatures souterraines car on raconte que de véritables trolls vivent sur ce bout de terre et qu'il serait même possible de les rencontrer...
Bornholm (40000 habitants) a la particularité d'être située à 140 km à l'est des premières côtes danoises, plus proche de la Suède et de l'Allemagne que du reste du Danemark.
Le 19 mai 2022, la poste danoise (Postnord Danmark) a mis en circulation un intéressant bloc-feuillet dans le cadre des émissions EUROPA, consacrées cette année au thème des histoires et mythes ("Sagn & Myter" en danois), illustrant cette légende des créatures souterraines de Bornholm ("De underjordiske på Bornholm").
Conçu à partir d'œuvres en papier découpé de Ane Cecilie Mogensen, une artiste de Bornholm, ce bloc-feuillet, imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing, est composé de 3 timbres (12 et 36 DKK), seul le timbre central (36 DKK) incluant le logo EUROPA. 
The Danish island of Bornholm enjoys a certain fame among lovers of underground creatures because it is said that real trolls live on this piece of land and that it would even be possible to meet them ...

Designed from paper-cut works by Ane Cecilie Mogensen, an artist from Bornholm, this souvenir sheet, printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, is composed of 3 stamps (12 and 36 DKK), only the central stamp (36 DKK) bearing the EUROPA logo.

 

Un grand merci Rune pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 16 août 2022 depuis la municipalité de Gentofte (située dans l'est du pays, sur l'île de Seeland, face à la Suède), affranchie avec ce bloc-feuillet !
Il peut difficilement y avoir un autre endroit au Danemark qui a une tradition aussi forte de légendes et de contes liés au monde surnaturel que cette île de Bornholm. On dit que le paysage rocheux est habité par des êtres souterrains qui se sont révélés aux habitants au fil des siècles.
Les 3 timbres de ce bloc-feuillet en représentent certains comme la Sirène avec Bonavedde dans son ventre. Contrairement aux gens ordinaires, Bonavedde peut voir et entendre les êtres souterrains en raison de ses origines maternelles. Bonavedde et les souterrains sont entre-temps dans une querelle perpétuelle les uns avec les autres.
Le timbre central représente le monticule où résident ces créatures souterraines. Quand ils font la fête, le monticule se dresse sur quatre colonnes lumineuses et on peut voir les créatures danser sur des mélodies et des rythmes étranges. L'ivresse sans entraves et les comportements sauvages sont à l'ordre du jour...
Le timbre à droite représente Ellestingeren, le roi des souterrains, qui monte un cheval à trois pattes (sans tête normalement) à la tête de l'armée clandestine. Avec une indifférence désinvolte, il jette des sorts et des malédictions à droite et à gauche. Chacun a ce qu'il mérite et Ellestingeren n'oublie personne...

There can hardly be another place in Denmark that has such a strong tradition of legends and tales related to the supernatural world as this island of Bornholm. The rocky landscape is said to be inhabited by subterranean beings who revealed themselves to the inhabitants over the centuries.

The 3 stamps of this souvenir sheet feature some of them such as the Mermaid with Bonavedde in her belly. Unlike ordinary people, Bonavedde can see and hear the subterraneans on account of his maternal origins. Bonavedde and the subterraneans are in the meantime in a perpetual feud with one another.

The central stamp represents the mound where these subterranean creatures reside. When they party, the mound rises up on four glowing columns, and you can see the creatures dancing around to strange melodies and rhythms. Unfettered drunkenness and wild behavior are the order of the day ...

The stamp on the right depicts Ellestingeren, the king of the subterraneans, who rides a three-legged (headless) horse at the head of the underground army. With casual indifference, he casts spells and curses to the right and to the left. Everyone gets what they deserve, and Ellestingeren forgets no-one ...

EUROPA 2021 (Endangered National Wildlife) stamp set on cover from Denmark

Série EUROPA 2021 (Faune en voie de disparition) sur lettre du Danemark

Il existe jusqu'à 100 espèces de papillons diurnes au Danemark, mais nombre d'entre elles risquent de disparaître, à cause du manque d'habitats riches en fleurs et plusieurs étés secs consécutifs.
Dans le cadre des émissions EUROPA, dont le thème cette année est consacré à la faune nationale en voie de disparition ("Truede dyrearter" en danois), la poste danoise "PostNord Danmark" a mis en circulation, le 20 mai 2021, une jolie série (5 timbres) illustrant certaines de ces espèces de papillons menacées.
Parmi ces 5 timbres (11 DKK, conception : Marianne Therese Grønnow) imprimés (en France par Cartor) en carnet de 10 timbres autocollants (2 de chaque), 2 comportent le logo EUROPA. 
There are as many as 100 species of butterflies in Denmark, but many are in danger of disappearing, due to a lack of flower-rich habitats and several consecutive dry summers.
As part of the EUROPA issues, with a theme this year devoted to endangered national wildlife ("Truede dyrearter" in Danish), the Danish Post "PostNord Danmark" put into circulation, on May 20, 2021, a pretty series (5 stamps) illustrating some of these threatened butterfly species.
Among these 5 stamps (DKK 11, design: Marianne Therese Grønnow) printed (in France by Cartor) in booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps (2 of each), two stamps include the EUROPA logo.

Les 2 timbres EUROPA, à droite sur cette enveloppe, sont respectivement consacrés à l'Hespérie de la crételle (Carterocephalus silvicola) et au Grand collier argenté (Boloria euphrosyne).
Les 3 autres espèces illustrées dans cette série sont le Cuivré écarlate (Lycaena hippothoe), le Machaon ou Grand porte-queue (Papilio machaon) et l'Azuré des mouillères (Phengaris alcon).
A noter que le timbre représentant cette dernière espèce comporte une erreur (mention "Pengaris" au lieu de "Phengaris")...

The two EUROPA stamps, on the right on this envelope, are respectively dedicated to the northern chequered skipper (Carterocephalus silvicola) and the pearl-bordered fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne).

The three other species illustrated in this series are the purple-edged copper (Lycaena hippothoe), the Old World swallowtail (Papilio machaon) and the Alcon large blue (Phengaris alcon).

To note that the stamp representing this last species contains an error (mention "Pengaris" instead of "Phengaris") ... 

 

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) s/s on cover from Denmark

Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2020 (Anciennes routes postales) sur lettre du Danemark

Pour rappel, PostNord AB (renommée PostNord en 2011) est le nom de la holding résultant de la fusion des administrations postales de Suède (Posten AB) et du Danemark (Post Danmark) en juin 2009. Cette entreprise comptant environ 50000 employés, est contrôlée à 60 % par l'état suédois et à 40 % par l'état danois.
Malgré cette entité commune, les 2 pays décident chacun de leur politique d'émissions de timbres.
Pour illustrer le thème EUROPA choisi par PostEurop cette année, les anciennes routes postales ("gamle postruter" en danois), les 2 pays ont choisi l'ancienne route postale qui reliait les villes de Stockholm et Hambourg, avec un focus sur cette route sur le territoire suédois d'une part et un focus sur cette route entre Copenhague et Hambourg d'autre part.
Un grand merci Rune pour l'envoi de cette lettre affranchie avec ce bloc-feuillet EUROPA danois (3 timbres, 2 arborant le logo EUROPA), envoyée le 28 juillet 2020 depuis la ville de Næstved ! 
As a reminder, PostNord AB (its name was changed to become PostNord in 2011) is the name of the holding company resulting from the merger of the two postal administrations of Sweden (Posten AB) and Denmark (Post Danmark) in June 2009. This company, with around 50,000 employees, is controlled by the Swedish state (60%) and the Danish state (40%).
Despite this common entity, the two countries decide each of their stamp issuing policy.
To illustrate the EUROPA theme chosen by PostEurop this year, the ancient postal routes ("gamle postruter" in Danish), the 2 countries have chosen the old postal route which linked the cities of Stockholm and Hamburg, with a focus on this route on Swedish territory on the one hand and a focus on this route between Copenhagen and Hamburg on the other hand.

J'aime beaucoup ce bloc-feuillet (le bloc-feuillet suédois également) émis le 11 mai 2020, conçu par Ella Clausen et imprimé en France par Cartor, évoquant cette ancienne route postale établie en 1624 entre Copenhague et Hambourg.
Le "Forordning om Post-Budde" (décret sur le transport du courrier) du roi Christian IV fut en effet promulgué en décembre 1624. Neuf routes postales danoises furent établies, dont la route vers Hambourg était la plus importante. Douze ans plus tard, le conseil d'État suédois a approuvé le "Förordning om Postbådhen", marquant le début des services postaux formels dans les deux pays.
Ce décret de 1624 est reproduit à droite dans les marges de ce bloc-feuillet, la partie gauche montrant une carte ancienne du Danemark.
Un postillon jouant du cor est représenté sur le timbre du milieu (tarif domestique jusqu'à 50g - 10 DKK), les 2 autres timbres (tarif international jusqu'à 100g - 30 DKK) étant consacrés à des vues anciennes des villes de Copenhague (Hafnia) et du quartier d'Altona près de Hambourg.

I really love this souvenir sheet (the Swedish souvenir sheet too) issued on May 11, 2020, designed by Ella Clausen and printed in France by Cartor, evoking this ancient postal route established in 1624 between Copenhagen and Hamburg.

King Christian IV's "Forordning om Post-Budde" (Mail Carrier Decree) was indeed promulgated in December 1624. Nine Danish postal routes were established, of which the route to Hamburg was the most important. Twelve years later, the Swedish State Council approved the "Förordning om Postbådhen", marking the start of formal postal services in both countries.

This 1624 decree is reproduced on the right in the margins of this souvenir sheet, the left part showing an old map of Denmark.

A postilion blowing a post horn is represented on the middle stamp (domestic rate up to 50g - DKK 10), the other two stamps (international rate up to 100g - DKK 30) being dedicated to old views of the cities of Copenhagen (Hafnia) and the Altona district near Hamburg. 

 

EUROPA 2019 (National birds) m/s on cover from Denmark

Bloc-feuillet EUROPA 2019 (Oiseaux nationaux) sur lettre du Danemark

Le 16 mai 2019, la poste danoise (PostNord Danmark) a mis en circulation, uniquement sous la forme d'un bloc-feuillet, sa série de 2 timbres EUROPA, dont le thème cette année-là était consacré aux oiseaux nationaux ("Nationalfugle" en danois).
Le cygne tuberculé ou cygne muet (Cygnus olor), "knopsvane" en danois, est devenu l'oiseau national du Danemark en 1984, remplaçant alors l'alouette des champs (Alauda arvensis).
Cet oiseau, l'un des oiseaux volants les plus lourds, n'a pas reçu au début officiellement le statut d'oiseau national du Danemark par la loi, mais par un vote populaire organisé par une émission de télévision danoise...
On May 16, 2019, the Danish Post (PostNord Danmark) put into circulation, only in the form of a miniature sheet, its series of two EUROPA stamps, having for theme that year the national birds ("Nationalfugle" in Danish).

Le cygne tuberculé tire probablement sa popularité au Danemark du conte pour enfants "Le vilain petit canard" (1842), par le poète et auteur danois Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875).
Une interprétation autobiographique de ce conte a retenu la revanche du poète (le cygne) sur les gens ordinaires (les canards), lorsqu'il découvre un milieu qui lui permet de reconnaître son talent...

La poste danoise (Postnord) a été la 1ère administration postale à mettre en circulation son émission EUROPA cette année (le 2 janvier 2017), consacrée au thème des châteaux.
Il s'agit d'un joli bloc-feuillet composé de 2 timbres à forte valeur faciale (25 DKK chacun) consacrés au château de Frederiksborg et à son jardin de style baroque et romantique, conçus par Jakob Monefeldt et le graveur Bertil Skov Jørgensen, à partir de vues aériennes prises par un drone.

The Danish Post (Postnord) was the first postal administration to put into circulation its EUROPA issue this year (on January 2, 2017), dedicated to the theme of castles.
It consists in a pretty miniature sheet of two stamps with a high nominal value (25 DKK each) dedicated to the Frederiksborg Castle and its baroque and romantic style garden, designed by Jakob Monefeldt and the engraver Bertil Skov Jørgensen, from aerial views taken by a drone.

Le château de Frederiksborg ("Frederiksborg Slot" en danois) a été construit sur trois îlots du Slotssø ("lac du château") entre 1560 et 1630 à Hillerød, pour servir de résidence au roi de Danemark et Norvège Christian IV (1577-1648).
Conçu par l'architecte flamand Hans van Steenwinckel l'Ancien, ce château constituait la plus grande résidence Renaissance de Scandinavie, symbole de la puissance de la monarchie absolue danoise, considéré par sa splendeur et ses jardins comme le "Versailles danois".
En 1859, il a été détruit par un incendie avant d'être reconstruit à l'identique sous la responsabilité de l'architecte Ferdinand Meldahl.
Malheureusement, comme pour les timbres EUROPA émis cette année en Suède, au Groenland ou encore en Islande, le logo EUROPA est présent sur ces 2 timbres avec une police minuscule... dommage !
Frederiksborg Castle ("Frederiksborg Slot" in Danish) was built on three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake) between 1560 and 1630 in Hillerød, to serve as residence for the King of Denmark and Norway Christian IV (1577-1648).
Designed by the Flemish architect Hans van Steenwinckel the Elder, this castle was the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia, a symbol of the power of the Danish monarchy, considered by its splendor and gardens as the "Danish Versailles".
In 1859, it was destroyed by a fire before being rebuilt identically under the responsibility of the architect Ferdinand Meldahl. 
Unfortunately, as with the EUROPA stamps issued this year in Sweden, Greenland or Iceland, the EUROPA logo is present on these two stamps with a tiny font... what a pity!

Bloc-feuillet "Noces d'or du couple royal danois" sur lettre du Groenland

Le 10 juin 1967, la princesse héréditaire danoise Margrethe (née en 1940) épousait le comte français Henri de Laborde de Monpezat (né en 1934), lors d'une cérémonie religieuse dans l'église Holmens de Copenhague.
A la mort du roi Frédéric IX en 1972, Margrethe est devenue reine du Danemark sous le nom de Margrethe II, le comte Henri devenant Prince consort Henrik.
Comme cela est souvent le cas pour des anniversaires concernant la famille royale danoise, les 3 administrations postales du Danemark, des îles Féroé et du Groenland ont mis en circulation, le 15 mai 2017, un élégant bloc-feuillet commun consacré aux noces d'or du couple royal.
La version groenlandaise de ce bloc-feuillet a été utilisée sur la lettre ci-dessous, envoyée le 23 juin 2017 depuis Tasiilaq, la principale ville située sur la côte sud-est de l'île où est situé le siège des services postaux.
On June 10, 1967, the Danish hereditary princess Margrethe (born in 1940) married the French Count Henri de Laborde de Monpezat (born in 1934) during a religious ceremony in the Church of Holmen in Copenhagen.
At the death of King Frederick IX in 1972, Margrethe became Queen of Denmark under the name of Margrethe II, Count Henri becoming Prince Consort Henrik.
As is often the case for anniversaries concerning the Danish royal family, the three postal administrations of Denmark, Faroe Islands and Greenland put into circulation, on May 15, 2017, an elegant joint souvenir sheet devoted to this Royal golden wedding.
The Greenlandic version of this souvenir sheet was used on the letter below, sent on June 23, 2017 from Tasiilaq, the main town on the southeast coast of the island, where the postal services (POST Greenland) are headquartered.

Ce bloc-feuillet, incluant un timbre à 50 DKK (portrait contemporain du couple royal, par Torben Eskerod), a été conçu par Jacob Monefeldt et imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing.
A noter la présence dans la marge à droite du monogramme doré du couple royal ainsi que la mention du 50ème anniversaire de ce mariage (en groenlandais et danois).
Des cœurs ainsi que trois pictogrammes différents figurent dans le fond de ce bloc-feuillet, symboles respectifs des 3 territoires : le cygne tuberculé pour le Danemark, le mouton pour les îles Féroé et l'ours polaire pour le Groenland.
La poste Groenlandaise a également émis ce même timbre en feuille de 20 timbres et, à l'initiative de la poste des îles Féroé, un collector réunissant les 3 blocs-feuillets a été édité (prix de vente : 150 DKK).
This souvenir sheet, including a 50 DKK stamp (a contemporary portrait of the royal couple by Torben Eskerod), was designed by Jacob Monefeldt and printed in France by Cartor Security Printing.
To note the presence in the right margin of the golden monogram of the royal couple as well as the mention of the 50th anniversary of this marriage (in Greenlandic and Danish).
Hearts as well as three different pictograms are included in this souvenir sheet's background, symbols of the three territories: the mute swan for Denmark, the sheep for Faroe Islands and the polar bear for Greenland.
The Greenland Post also issued the same stamp in a sheet (20 stamps per sheet) and, at the initiative of the Faroe Islands Post, a souvenir folder with the 3 souvenir sheets was published (sale price: DKK 150).

Le 31 mars 2016, la poste danoise a mis en circulation, uniquement sous la forme d'un bloc-feuillet, sa série de 2 timbres EUROPA, dont le thème cette année est consacré à l'écologie en Europe avec en particulier ce slogan "Think Green!".
Pour rappel, un des 2 timbres de cette série (timbre en bas à droite sur ce bloc-feuillet) à été conçu à partir du dessin commun (auteur : Doxia Sergidou / poste chypriote) choisi suite à un concours organisé par PostEurop afin de célébrer cette année le 60ème anniversaire de l'émission des premiers timbres EUROPA (en 1956).
Un grand merci Peter pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 18 mai 2016 de Copenhague, affranchie avec ce bloc-feuillet !
On March 31, 2016, Post Danmark has released, only in a souvenir sheet, its set of two EUROPA stamps, having for theme this year "Ecology in Europe" through in particular the slogan "Think Green!".
As a reminder, one of the two stamps of this series (at the bottom right on this souvenir sheet) was designed from the joint drawing (author : Doxia Sergidou / Cyprus Post) selected following a competition organized by PostEurop to celebrate this year the 60th anniversary of the issue of the first EUROPA stamps (it was in 1956).
A big thank you Peter for this nice letter sent on May 18, 2016 from Copenhagen, franked with that souvenir sheet !

Le 2ème timbre sur ce bloc-feuillet reproduit un dessin (design : Jakob Monefeldt / Ella Clausen pour PostNord Stamps, illustration : Martin Mörck) représentant un globe niché dans une paire de mains protectrices.
Comme pour le timbre commun, ce timbre nous rappelle que la lutte contre le changement climatique et pour la préservation de l'environnement dépend concrètement de l'action humaine.
A noter que, concernant le timbre commun, la poste danoise a choisi de réduire les parties droite et gauche du dessin, empêchant par exemple de distinguer à gauche la cheminée produisant cette fumée noire...
A noter enfin la forte faciale de ces 2 timbres (25 DKK chacun soit environ 3,40 €) correspondant à un envoi prioritaire jusqu'à 50g vers l'Europe (les tarifs les plus élevés en Europe pour ce type d'envoi).

As for the joint stamp, that stamp reminds us that the fight against climate change and for the preservation of environment depends on concrete human action.
To note that, regarding the joint stamp, Post Danmark has chosen to reduce the right and left parts of the drawing, preventing for example to distinguish on the left the chimney producing this black smoke...
To note also the very high nominal value of these two stamps (25 DKK each, about € 3.40) corresponding to a priority mail up to 50g to Europe (the highest postal rates in Europe for this type of shipment).

PostNord AB (renommée PostNord en 2011) est le nom de la holding résultant de la fusion des administrations postales de Suède (Posten AB) et du Danemark (Post Danmark) en juin 2009.
Cette entreprise comptant environ 50000 employés, est contrôlée à 60 % par l'état suédois et à 40 % par l'état danois.
Malgré cette entité commune, les 2 pays décident chacun de leur politique d'émissions de timbres.
Le 7 mai 2015, une intéressante série commune (2 timbres autocollants) a été émise par les 2 pays, comportant pour la 1ère fois le logo "postnord" !
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir les versions suédoises et danoises de cette série commune sur les 2 lettres ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Rune et Peter :-)
PostNord AB (its name was changed to become PostNord in 2011) is the name of the holding company resulting from the merger of the two postal administrations of Sweden (Posten AB) and Denmark (Post Danmark) in June 2009.
This company, with around 50,000 employees, is controlled by the Swedish state (60%) and the Danish state (40%).
Despite this common entity, the two countries decide each of their stamp issuing policy.
On May 7, 2015, an attractive joint set (2 self-adhesive stamps) was issued by the two countries, including for the first time the postnord's logo !
I was lucky to receive the Swedish and Danish versions of this joint series on the two covers below. Thank you very much Rune and Peter :-)

Chaque pays a émis ces 2 timbres (conçus par les 2 graphistes de PostNord Ditte Rosenørn Holm et Gustav Mårtensson) dans un carnet composé de 10 timbres (6 timbres "daims, protection de notre environnement" et 4 timbres "éolienne pour un développement durable").
Ces 2 timbres sont en fait des timbres de bienfaisance au profit du WWF (1 couronne suédoise ou danoise par timbre est reversée à cette association).
L'objectif est de soutenir le WWF, en particulier ses actions pour lutter contre le réchauffement climatique ou pour l'organisation chaque année de l'évènement "Earth Hour".
A noter sur la lettre suédoise ci-dessus, envoyée depuis la ville de Torslanda le 14 août 2015, l'application d'une oblitération mécanique (le dimanche 16 août ??) à Göteborg, incluant les mentions "Glad sommar!" ("bon été!") et PostNord :-)
Each country has issued these two stamps (designed by the two PostNord graphic artists Ditte Rosenørn Holm and Gustav Mårtensson) in a booklet composed of 10 stamps (6 "fallow deer - protecting our environment" stamps and 4 "wind turbine for a sustainable development" stamps).
These two stamps are actually a charity series with profits from the sale going to WWF (1 Swedish or Danish Krone per stamp).
The objective is to support the WWF, in particular its actions to fight against global warming and for the organization each year of the "Earth Hour" event.
To note on the Swedish letter above, sent from the city of Torslanda on August 14, 2015, the application of a mechanical cancellation (on Sunday, August 16 ??) in Gothenburg, including the words "Glad sommar!" ("Happy summer!") and PostNord :-)

La version danoise de cette série figure sur la 2ème lettre ci-dessus envoyée de Copenhague le 3 juillet 2015.
Le célèbre logo "panda" du WWF figure sur chaque timbre, en bas à gauche, ainsi que la mention "Pour le bien de l'environnement", respectivement en suédois ("For miljöns skull") et danois ("For miljøets skyld").
A noter enfin la présence de 2 éléments de sécurité sur ces 2 timbres : la mention "postnord" en pointillé sur la partie droite ainsi qu'une dentelure irrégulière (en haut et en bas).
Ces 4 timbres sont vraiment identiques donc je suppose qu'ils ont été imprimés au même endroit (l'imprimerie de PostNord en Suède située à Kista, au nord de Stockholm ?)...
The Danish version of this series was used on the 2nd letter above sent from Copenhagen on July 3, 2015.
The famous WWF "Panda" logo is included on each stamp, at the bottom left, as well as the mention "For the environment's sake" respectively in Swedish ("For miljöns skull") and Danish ("For miljøets skyld").
To note also the presence of two security features on these two stamps : the word "PostNord" punched on the right side and an irregular perforation (top and bottom).
These four stamps are really identical so I guess they were printed in the same place (maybe PostNord's printing house in Sweden located in Kista, north of Stockholm ?)...

Le 11 juin 2014, le prince Henri, époux de la reine Margrethe II du Danemark, a célébré son 80ème anniversaire.
A cette occasion, les 3 administrations postales du Danemark, des îles Féroé et du Groënland ont mis en circulation ce jour là un timbre commun, montrant le prince consort de profil (d'après une photographie de Torben Eskerod) sur fond noir, incluant son monogramme ainsi que quelques lignes (en danois) de son poème "L'écureuil" faisant partie de sa collection de poèmes intitulée "Whispering Breezes" ("Brises murmurantes") publiée en 2005.
C'est la version danoise (9 DKK) de ce timbre commun qui a été utilisée à droite sur cette jolie lettre postée le 14 avril 2015 de Copenhague. Merci beaucoup Peter :-)
On June 11, 2014, Prince Henrik, husband of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, celebrated his 80th birthday.
On this occasion, the three postal administrations of Denmark, Faroe Islands and Greenland have put into circulation that day a joint stamp featuring the Prince Consort's profile (from a photograph by Torben Eskerod) on a black background, including his monogram as well as some lines (in Danish) of his poem "The Squirrel", part of his collection of poems entitled "Whispering Breezes" published in 2005.
It is the Danish version (9 DKK) of this joint stamp that was used to the right on this nice cover sent on April 14, 2015 from Copenhagen. Thank you very much Peter :-)

Peter a complété son affranchissement avec 2 timbres identiques (3 DKK) faisant partie d'une série (4 timbres) émise le 1er juin 2012, consacrée à des contes de Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875).
Ce timbre illustre le conte "Le Rossignol et l'Empereur de Chine" ("Nattergalen" en danois), publié en 1843, dont la morale est "nul ne peut s'approprier, même artificiellement, un talent qu'il ne possède pas"...

La poste danoise (Post Danmark) a été la 1ère administration postale européenne a émettre sa série de deux timbres EUROPA en 2015 (le 2 janvier).
Le thème choisi par l'organisation PostEurop cette année est consacré aux jouets anciens et la poste danoise (concepteur : Jakob Monefeldt) a choisi d'évoquer les célèbres briques et figurines du fabricant danois Lego, le plus important groupe de fabrication de jouets en Europe.
Apparu sur le marché en 1949, Lego est une gamme de jouets de construction qui se compose de briques emboîtables, de figurines et diverses autres pièces. Ces briques peuvent être assemblées et reliées entre elles afin de construire différents objets (véhicules, bâtiments, robots…).
The Danish Post (Post Danmark) was the first European postal administration having issued its series of two EUROPA stamps in 2015 (on January 2).
The theme chosen by the organization PostEurop this year is devoted to old toys and the Danish Post (designer : Jakob Monefeldt) chose to feature the famous bricks and figures of the Lego Danish manufacturer, the biggest toy making company in Europe.
Appeared on the market in 1949, Lego is a line of construction toys that consists of interlocking bricks, figures and various other pieces. These bricks can be assembled and connected together to construct different objects such as vehicles, buildings, robots...

C'est cette série EUROPA 2015 qui a été utilisée pour affranchir cette jolie lettre ci-dessus, postée le 27 janvier 2015 de la ville de Silkeborg (centre de la région du Jutland-Central). Merci beaucoup Tristan :-)
Ces 2 timbres autocollants ont été émis chacun en feuille de 10 timbres (tirage : 410000 pour le timbre à 10 DKK et 190000 pour le timbre à 14,50 DKK).
Un feuillet thématique a également été émis (tirage : 20000), composé de 6 timbres à 10 DKK et différents stickers.
Tristan a également utilisé ci-dessus 2 timbres courants (0,50 et 1,00 DKK) faisant sans doute partie d'une réimpression récente (en 2010 ou 2014 ?).
A noter que cette série courante est une des plus anciennes au monde (après le "cor postal" norvégien) toujours en vigueur, puisque les 1ers timbres de ce type ont été émis en 1905.

These two self-adhesive stamps were issued each in sheet of 10 stamps (print run : 410,000 for the DKK 10.00 stamp and 190,000 for the DKK 14.50 stamp).
A theme sheet was also issued (pritn run : 20,000), composed of six DKK 10.00 stamps and different stickers.
Tristan also used above two definitives stamps (DKK 0.50 and 1.00) being probably part of a recent reprint (in 2010 or 2014 ?).
To note that this definitive series is one of the oldest in the world still in production (after the "Post Horn" from Norway) since the first stamps of this series were issued in 1905.

En 2009, l'ensemble des manuscrits de la collection arnamagnéenne a été inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO au registre "Mémoire du Monde", une inscription commune soumise par l'Islande et le Danemark.
Cette collection arnamagnéenne tire son nom d'Árni Magnússon (1663-1730), érudit et antiquaire islandais, qui passé une grande partie de sa vie à constituer la collection la plus importante au monde de manuscrits anciens scandinaves (islandais et norvégiens pour la plupart), composée de près de 3000 pièces (la plus ancienne datant du 12ème siècle).
A l'occasion du (presque !) 350ème anniversaire de la naissance d'Árni Magnússon, les 2 administrations postales d'Islande et du Danemark ont eu la bonne idée d'émettre une série commune de 2 timbres.
In 2009, the Arnamagnæan Manuscript Collection was added to the UNESCO World Heritage "Memory of the World" Register, a joint entry submitted by Iceland and Denmark.
This Arnamagnæan Collection, named after Árni Magnússon (1663-1730), Icelandic scholar and antiquarian, who spent much of his life building up the most important collection in the world of ancient Scandinavian manuscripts (Icelandic and Norwegian mostly), composed of nearly 3,000 items (the oldest dating from the 12th century).
To celebrate the (almost !) 350th anniversary of the birth of Árni Magnússon, the two postal administrations of Iceland and Denmark had the good idea of ​​issuing a joint set of two stamps.

La poste islandaise a émis ces 2 timbres (impression mixte offset/taille-douce) chacun en feuille de 10 timbres autocollants ainsi que dans un bloc-feuillet (version gommée).
C'est ce bloc-feuillet qui figure sur le splendide FDC officiel du 28 août 2014 de Reykjavík ci-dessus. Merci beaucoup Benedikt :-)
Ces 2 timbres (50g intérieur et 50g Europe), conçus par Jakob Monefeld et gravés par Martin Mörck, reproduisent respectivement une partie de manuscrits conservés dans l'Institut Árni Magnússon de Reykjavík (Kálfalækjarbók, qui contient notamment la Saga de Njáll le Brûlé) et dans le département de recherches scandinaves de l'université de Copenhague (manuscrit danois qui contient les lois relatives à la région du Seeland).
En 1961, l'Islande et le Danemark ont négocié le partage de cette collection arnamagnéenne et les premiers manuscrits furent alors rendus à l'Islande à partir de 1971.
Iceland Post has issued these two stamps (mixed offset/intaglio printing) each in sheet of 10 self-adhesive stamps as well as in a gummed souvenir sheet.

These two stamps (50g domestic and 50g Europe), designed by Jakob Monefeld and engraved by Martin Mörck, respectively reproduce some part of manuscripts preserved at the Árni Magnússon Institute in Reykjavík (the Book of Kálfalækur including the Saga of Burnt Niall) and at the Department of Scandinavian Research of the University of Copenhagen (Danish manuscript which contains legal statutes for Sjælland).
In 1961, Iceland and Denmark negotiated the division of this Arnamagnæan Collection and the first manuscripts were then returned to Iceland from 1971.

EUROPA 2014 stamp on Danish cover

Pour illustrer son timbre EUROPA émis le 15 mars 2014 ayant cette année pour thème les "instruments de musique", la poste danoise a choisi un piano, appelé "PH Grand Piano", conçu en 1931 par le célèbre architecte, designer et écrivain danois Poul Henningsen (1894-1967).
Ce piano est considéré aujourd'hui comme un objet majeur du mouvement "Danish Modern" associant des oeuvres conçues par de grands designers danois dans la 1ère moitié du 20ème siècle.
Conçu pour la société "Andreas Christensen manufacturing", ce piano fonctionnel et moderne est aujourd'hui exposé dans les plus grands musées d'art et de design du monde (Metropolitan Museum de New-York, Design Museum Danmark à Copenhague...).
To illustrate its EUROPA stamp issued on March 15, 2014 having the "musical instruments" for theme this year, the Danish Post chose a piano, called "PH Grand Piano", designed in 1931 by renowned Danish architect, designer and writer Poul Henningsen (1894-1967).
This piano is now considered as a major object of the "Danish Modern" movement combining works created by leading Danish designers in the first half of the 20th century.
Designed for the "Andreas Christensen manufacturing" company, this practical and modern piano is now on display in the main art and design museums in the world (Metropolitan Museum in New York, Design Museum Danmark in Copenhagen...).

C'est ce timbre (14 DKK) autocollant (impression mixte offset/taille-douce), gravé par Martin Mörck, qui figure sur la lettre ci-dessus postée le 14 avril 2014 à Copenhague. Merci beaucoup Peter :-)
Le fond de ce timbre inclut les premières notes de la chanson "Jeg ku' bli'e no'et så 1-2-3"  dont la musique a été composée par Kai Normann Andersen (1900-1967) et les paroles par Poul Henningsen en 1941.
Cette chanson faisait partie de la "Revue danoise" ("Den Danske Revy") publiée pendant l'occupation allemande du pays, lors de la 2nde guerre mondiale.
Ces chansons sont considérées comme des actes de résistance, les paroles étant souvent satiriques et subtiles afin de ne pas être comprises par les allemands à l'époque...
Surnommé PH au Danemark, Poul Henningsen est surtout connu pour la centaine de lampes qu'il a conçu et qui sont souvent encore présentes dans les maisons danoises aujourd'hui !
It is that self-adhesive stamp (14 DKK), including a mixed offset/intaglio printing, engraved by Martin Mörck, that was used on the cover above posted on April 14, 2014 in Copenhagen. Thank you very much Peter :-)
The background of that stamp is featuring the first notes of the song "Jeg ku' bli'e no'et så 1-2-3" whose music was composed by Kai Normann Andersen (1900-1967) and lyrics by Poul Henningsen in 1941.
This song was part of the "Danish Revue" ("Den Danske Revy") published during the German occupation of the country during the 2nd World War.
These songs are regarded as acts of resistance, the lyrics being often satirical and subtle in order not to be understood by the Germans at the time...
Nicknamed PH in Denmark, Poul Henningsen is best known for the hundreds of lamps he designed and that are often still present in Danish homes today !

France-Denmark joint stamp issue

Une information circulait fin 2012 concernant le thème de cette émission commune planifiée en 2013 entre la France et le Danemark : il devait s'agir d'édifices conçus au Danemark par l'architecte français Joseph-Jacques Ramée (1764-1842)...
Le 7 novembre 2013, deux timbres ont finalement été émis, mais consacrés à un tout autre sujet : le 350ème anniversaire de la signature à Paris du traité d'amitié de commerce entre les royaumes de France et du Danemark, le 14 février 1663 exactement.
La version française de cette série (0,63€ et 0,80€, tirage : 1500000 chacun) figure sur le pli Premier Jour ci-dessous, avec un TAD de Paris conçu par Claude Perchat.
An information circulated in late 2012 about the topic of this joint stamp issue planned in 2013 between France and Denmark : some buildings designed in Denmark by French architect Joseph-Jacques Ramée (1764-1842)...
On November 7, 2013, two stamps were finally issued, but devoted to a very different theme : the 350th anniversary of the signing in Paris of the Friendship and Trade Treaty between the kingdoms of France and Denmark, on February 14, 1663 exactly.
The French version of this stamp series (€ 0.63 and € 0.80, print run : 1,500,000 each) appears on the first day cover below, with postmarks from Paris designed by Claude Perchat.

La vente anticipée de cette série avait lieu lors du Salon Philatélique d'Automne à Paris (ainsi qu'au Carré d'Encre) où le Danemark était le pays invité d'honneur cette année.
Ces 2 timbres au graphisme proche (conception : Jakob Monefeldt, gravure : Elsa Catelin) évoquent une carte de l'Europe de cette époque, une partie d'un vaisseau qui transportait des marchandises entre les 2 pays ainsi qu'un quart de boussole sur laquelle figurent les dates des principaux traités signés, de 1451 à 1813.
La signature de ce traité de commerce en 1663 entre les rois Louis XIV et Frédéric II mettait un terme à des relations difficiles entre les 2 pays, détériorées après la guerre dano-suédoise qui ébranla l'Europe entre 1658 et 1660.
The preview sale of this series took place at the last "Salon Philatélique d'Automne" in Paris (as well as at the "Carré d'Encre") where Denmark was the guest country of honor this year.
These two stamps with a very similar drawing (design : Jakob Monefeldt, engraving : Elsa Catelin) evoke a map of Europe at the time, a part of a ship carrying goods between the two countries as well as a quarter of a compass on which are mentioned the dates of the main treaties, from 1451 to 1813.
The signing of this Trade Treaty in 1663 between the kings Louis XIV and Frederick II put an end to difficult relations between the two countries, deteriorated after the Danish-Swedish war which shook Europe between 1658 and 1660.

Les 45 articles de ce traité de commerce concernent la libre circulation des biens et des personnes en mer et sur terre, des facilités de commerce, la liberté de religion, la non assistance à leurs ennemis respectifs...
Les habitants des deux nations étaient ainsi libres de se déplacer et de séjourner dans le pays de l'autre en respectant les mœurs et les coutumes locales.

La poste danoise a émis ces 2 timbres (gravés par Bertil Skov Jørgensen) en version autocollante.
A noter la marque postale de retard "FD" ("Fausse Direction") appliquée en France sur cette enveloppe, sans doute suite à une mauvaise interprétation du code postal...
The 45 articles of this Trade Treaty were devoted to free movement of goods and people at sea and on land, commercial facilities, freedom of religion, a pledge of no assistance to each others' respective enemies...
The people of the two nations were thus free to travel and reside in each other's countries as long as they respected local manners and customs.

The Danish Post has issued these two stamps (engraved by Bertil Skov Jørgensen) in a self-adhesive version.
To note the delay postmark "FD" (for "Wrong Direction" in French) applied in France on this envelope, probably due to a misinterpretation of the postal code...

Dans le cadre de ce même traité signé en 1663, les bateaux de commerce français bénéficiaient de facilités de paiement de droits d'entrée ("Sound Dues") dans les eaux danoise (entre Elsinore et Helsingborg).
Cette émission commune est la 2ème entre la France et le Danemark après un timbre commun émis en 1988 (Année culturelle France-Danemark, oeuvre de Robert Jacobsen).
Pour l'anecdote, le Danemark est le seul pays d'Europe (avec la Pologne) n'étant jamais entré en guerre avec la France.

As part of that Treaty signed in 1663, the French commercial vessels benefiting from easy payment of duties ("Sound Dues") in Danish waters (between Elsinore and Helsingborg).
This joint issue is the second one between France and Denmark after a joint stamp issued in 1988 (France-Denmark Cultural Year, work by Robert Jacobsen).
For the anecdote, Denmark is the only country in Europe (with Poland) that never entered into war with France.

Très heureux de publier mon premier courrier affranchi avec un timbre EUROPA 2013 !
Plus précisément un bloc-feuillet, composé d'un timbre (12,5 DKK), émis le 4 mars 2013 par la poste du Danemark, consacré au thème des "véhicules postaux" cette année où l'organisation postale PostEurop célèbre son 20ème anniversaire.

Ce timbre représente le nouveau vélo électrique à 3 roues, conçu en collaboration avec le fabricant Nihola, utilisé par les employés de la poste danoise.
Depuis 2011, les mobylettes polluantes et les anciens vélos postaux ont commencé à être remplacés par ce type de vélo électrique moderne, afin de réduire les émissions de CO2 de 40% d'ici 2020 !
A noter que ce timbre (gravé par Bertil Skov Jørgensen) a également été émis en feuille de 36 timbres autocollants.

More precisely with a souvenir sheet consisting of one stamp (DKK 12.50), issued on March 4, 2013 by the Post of Denmark, dedicated to the theme of "the postman van" this year (postal organization PostEurop celebrating its 20th anniversary).

That stamp depicts the new three-wheel electric bicycle, designed in collaboration with the manufacturer Nihola, used by employees of the Danish Post.
Since 2011, polluting gasoline mopeds and old postal bikes began to be replaced by this modern type of electric bike, in order to cut Post Danmark's CO2 emissions by 40% by 2020 !
To note that this stamp (engraved by Bertil Skov Jørgensen) was also issued in sheet of 36 self-adhesive stamps.

Bertil Skov Jørgensen a également gravé l'autre timbre ci-dessus à gauche (8 DKK), émis aussi le 4 mars 2013, consacré au 200ème anniversaire de la naissance du célèbre théologien et philosophe danois Søren Aabye Kierkegaard (1813-1855).
Ce timbre, conçu à partir d'un portrait du philosophe (vers 1840) par Niels Christian Kierkegaard (1806-1882), a été émis conjointement avec la poste des îles Féroé où Kierkegaard a eu une grande influence sur la vie religieuse des ces îles au 19ème siècle.
Une des plus grandes figures culturelles du Danemark, Kierkegaard, à travers plus de 40 ouvrages publiés (ayant souvent pour thèmes l'anxiété, la foi, la séduction, l'amour ou le désespoir), est considéré comme un des fondateurs de l'existentialisme moderne.
Une de ses idées maîtresses était que chaque homme est unique et qu'il devait s'extraire de la foule ignorante et anonyme...
Bertil Skov Jørgensen has also engraved the other stamp above to the left (DKK 8.00), also issued on March 4, 2013, devoted to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Aabye Kierkegaard (1813-1855).
That stamp, designed from a portrait of the philosopher (circa 1840) by Niels Christian Kierkegaard (1806-1882), was jointly issued with the Post of the Faroe Islands where Kierkegaard had a great influence on the religious life of these islands in the 19th century.
One of the greatest cultural figures of Denmark, Kierkegaard, through more than 40 books published (having often anxiety, faith, seduction, love or despair for subjects), is considered as one of the founders of the modern existentialism.
One of his main ideas was that each person is unique and should be extracted from the ignorant and anonymous crowd...

EUROPA 2012 stamp from Denmark

Contrairement aux années précédentes, la poste danoise (Post Danmark) a émis, le 21 mars 2012, un seul timbre dans le cadre des émissions EUROPA consacrées cette année au tourisme avec le thème "Visitez...".
Ce timbre (12 DKK) a été émis en version autocollante mais aussi dans un intéressant bloc-feuillet.
C'est ce bloc qui figure sur la lettre ci-dessous postée le 8 mai 2012 de la capitale, Copenhague (à noter l'extrême netteté du timbre à date !). Merci beaucoup Peter :-)
Ce timbre est un peu difficile à décrypter à première vue mais comporte plusieurs messages !
Le bloc reproduit une photographie de l'artiste danois Casper Sejersen, célèbre pour avoir photographié la reine Margrethe II à l'occasion de ses 70 ans en 2010. Son portrait figure d'ailleurs sur la nouvelle série de timbres courants émis par la poste danoise depuis 2010...

Contrary to previous years, the Danish Post (Post Danmark) has issued, on March 21, 2012, only one stamp as part of the EUROPA issues devoted to tourism this year through the theme "Visit...".

This stamp (DKK 12.00) has been issued in self-adhesive version but also in an interesting souvenir sheet.

It is that sheet that appears on the cover below mailed on May 8, 2012 from the capital, Copenhagen (to note the extreme sharpness of the postmark !). Thank you very much Peter :-)

This stamp is not easy to decipher at first sight, but it has really some links with this year's EUROPA topic !

The sheet reproduces a photograph by the Danish artist Casper Sejersen, famous for having taken photographs of Queen Margrethe II on the occasion of her 70th anniversary in 2010.This portrait was even chosen on the new series of definitive stamps issued by the Danish Post since 2010...

Cette photographie montre Pierrot, avec son ami de la Comedia dell'Arte, Arlequin, sur un vélo Christiana (un triporteur très courant à Copenhague !) en train de traverser le pont Reine Louise ("Dronning Louises Bro") à une heure de pointe du matin. Ce pont, situé sur un ensemble de 5 lacs ("Søerne") dans le nord du centre-ville, est connu pour être un des lieux les plus fréquentés par les cyclistes dans le monde (avec plus de 35000 vélos le traversant quotidiennement).
Ce pont nous rappelle ainsi que Copenhague est sans doute la ville la plus verte d'Europe !
Quant à Pierrot, il s'est probablement perdu dans la capitale danoise puisqu'il est un des personnages liés depuis plus de 200 ans au parc d'attractions de Bakken (ou Dyrehavsbakken, situé dans le nord de Copenhague), l'un des plus anciens parcs de ce type toujours en activité dans le monde !
Devant sa maison verte, Pierrot fait ainsi la joie des enfants en les divertissant ou en leur faisant des tours de magie...

This photograph shows Pierrot, with his friend Harlequin of the Comedia dell'Arte, on his Christiana bike (a very common cycle in Copenhagen !) pedalling away on the Queen Louise's Bridge ("Dronning Louises Bro") at morning's rush hour. This bridge, located on a set of five Lakes ("Søerne") in the north of Copenhagen's downtown, is known to be one of the busiest cycling spots in the world (with over 35,000 bikes every day).

This bridge reminds us that Copenhagen is probably the greenest city in Europe !

As for Pierrot, he was probably lost in the Danish capital at this moment as he is one of the main figures for over 200 years at the Bakken amusement Park (or Dyrehavsbakken, located in the north of Copenhagen), one of oldest Parks of its kind still operating in the world !

In front of his house green, Pierrot is the joy of children by entertaining them or doing magic tricks...

So if you love cycling and having fun, you now know where to go to holiday next time !

Astronomy - China/Denmark joint issue

La poste chinoise avait initialement planifié en 2011 une émission commune avec la Deutsche Poste en Allemagne. Cette émission a été annulée et, en octobre, la Chine a annoncé une émission commune de remplacement avec le Danemark, consacrée à des anciens instruments astronomiques.
Le programme philatélique 2011 de la poste danoise étant fixé, la série de timbres danois a donc été émise en 2012 (le 4 janvier) alors que la série chinoise a été émise le 10 décembre 2011...
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir le splendide FDC officiel ci-dessous avec la série de 2 timbres (en 2 exemplaires) émise par la poste chinoise à Shanghai.

The China Post had originally planned in 2011 a joint issue with the Deutsche Post (Germany). This issue was canceled and, in October, China announced a joint issue of replacement with Denmark, dedicated to ancient astronomical instruments.
The 2011 stamp program of the Danish Post being fixed, the Danish series of stamps has consequently been issued in 2012 (on January 4), while the Chinese series was issued on December 10, 2011...
I was lucky to receive the beautiful official FDC below with the set of two stamps (in two copies) issued by the China Post in Shanghai.

Ces 2 timbres splendides, avec impression mixte offset/taille-douce, rendent hommage à l'astronome chinois Guo Shoujing (1231-1316) et à l'astronome danois Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) à travers leurs instruments astronomiques respectifs, un grand astrolabe équatorial dit "instrument simplifié" (sans les composantes écliptiques inventées par les savants arabes) datant de 1276 et une sphère armillaire équatoriale datant de 1585.
A noter l'illustration à gauche sur cette enveloppe évoquant l'observatoire astronomique Stjerneborg (site d'Uraniborg) créé par Tycho Brahe sur l'île de Ven près de Copenhague.
La tour de l'ombre (observatoire Guanxing Tai, le plus ancien de Chine) qui permit à Guo Shoujing de calculer la durée de la rotation de la terre autour du soleil, est également représentée sur cette enveloppe.
A noter enfin les 2 intéressants timbres à date évoquant respectivement ces 2 observatoires ainsi qu'une vue d'ensemble de l'astrolabe équatorial de Guo Shoujing.
These two splendid stamps (mixed offset/intaglio printing) pay tribute to Chinese astronomer Guo Shoujing (1231-1316) and Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) through their respective astronomical instruments, a large equatorial astrolabe called "Abridged Armilla" (without the ecliptic components invented by Arab scholars) dating from 1276 and an "Equatorial Armillary Sphere" dating from 1585.
To note the illustration to the left of this envelope evoking the astronomical observatory of Stjerneborg (Uraniborg site) founded by Tycho Brahe on the island of Ven near Copenhagen.
The shadow tower (Guanxing Tai Observatory, the oldest of China), which allowed Guo Shoujing to calculate the duration of the rotation of the earth around the sun, is also depicted on this cover.
Finally, to note the two interesting postmarks evoking respectively these two observatories as well as an overview of the "Abridged Armilla" of Guo Shoujing.
