"100 Years of the FIP - Fédération Internationale de Philatélie" stamp on cover from the United Arab Emirates

The Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP - International Federation of Philately) was founded on June 18, 1926, in Paris by representatives from six countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
From the outset, the FIP has worked to promote stamp collecting and philately, foster friendship among nations, maintain ties with the philatelic sector and postal administrations, and support philatelic exhibitions through its patronage and recognition.
Today, the FIP brings together 90 national federations; with them, it organizes conferences and seminars for aspiring jurors during its exhibitions and shapes the evolution of collecting and exhibiting practices by introducing new competitive classes.
Finally, it sponsors and co-organizes—alongside national federations—world exhibitions (both general and specialized) that serve as the true "Olympic Games" of philately.

The FIP is thus celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026, and a number of postal administrations have issued - or will issue - stamps on this theme, most featuring the official 100th-anniversary logo: Belarus, Monaco, Dominican Republic, Serbia, Thailand, Bulgaria, Russia, Slovenia, Romania, Brazil, Uruguay, Israel, Cyprus, Jordan, Pakistan, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo), United Arab Emirates, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Greece, and others.
On February 6, 2026, the United Arab Emirates Post issued a stamp (3 AED) marking the FIP's 100th anniversary.
This stamp, printed in a sheetlet of four, was used on the right side of the cover above, sent from Dubai on June 5, 2026. Many thanks, Mohammed!
The stamp features the FIP emblem alongside the 100th-anniversary logo; it was issued for the "Dubai 2026" World Stamp Exhibition, organized to commemorate both this anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA).
The other stamp above (6 AED) is part of a sheetlet (containing six different stamps) released on December 2, 2025, to mark the 54th National Day ("Eid Al Etihad").
The design is rooted in the concept of connection and cohesion, where each element overlaps and integrates to form a unified visual composition that reflects the core values of the UAE—unity, cultural diversity, and shared ambition for a prosperous future.
Specifically, this stamp depicts a historic watchtower in Hatta (built in the 1880s), located in an enclave of the Emirate of Dubai.

Merci beaucoup Mohammed !
Several postal administrations (Wallis & Futuna, Tunisia, Slovenia, San Marino, Kazakhstan, Moldova, the United Nations, the Philippines, Namibia, India, the United Arab Emirates, Belarus, Morocco, Serbia, Monaco, Peru, Slovakia, Pakistan, Algeria, etc.) issued stamps in 2025 commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
These stamps reproduced the official anniversary logo (for some) and sometimes its associated slogan, "Building our future together."
As a reminder, 51 countries founded the United Nations in 1945 following the ratification of the UN Charter in San Francisco on October 24, 1945.

On September 9, 2025, the United Arab Emirates postal service issued a set of two stamps commemorating the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
These two stamps (3 AED each), printed in a sheetlet of four (two pairs), have been used on the cover below, sent from Dubai on November 11, 2025. Thank you very much, Mohammed!

Aujourd'hui, l'ONU compte 193 états membres.
These two stamps simply reproduce the official logo for this 80th anniversary, on a blue and white background, the colors of the United Nations flag.
Since joining the UN on 9 December 1971, the United Arab Emirates has been an active partner in advancing the Charter’s principles, championing humanitarian aid, climate action and sustainable development while serving on the Security Council (in 1986 and 2003) and other key bodies.
Today, the UN has 193 member states. Its main organs are the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Trusteeship Council, the International Court of Justice, and the Secretariat, headed by the Secretary-General.
Mohammed completed his postage with two identical stamps from a definitive series that began in 2007, depicting a stylized falcon, one of the symbols of this country. This stamp (1.50 AED) was reissued on April 7, 2013.

"Arab Postal Day 2025" joint stamp on cover from the United Arab Emirates

To mark Arab Postal Day, which falls on August 3, 2025, some postal administrations of Arab member countries of the League of Arab States have issued a joint stamp illustrating the theme "Towards More Innovative Postal Services".
Unless I'm mistaken, nine countries issued this stamp: Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Morocco, and Oman.

The Emirati version of this joint stamp (3 AED, printed in sheetlet of 6 stamps), created by Iraqi designer Assem Mohamed Kamel, was used on the right on the cover below, sent on October 20, 2025, from Dubai. Thank you very much, Mohammed!
This joint stamp represents the Arab vision of building a postal future based on innovation and digital evolution. It also aims to highlight the central and historic role played by the postal sector in developing and strengthening communication within societies, while affirming its ability to adapt to rapid technological transformations within the framework of the knowledge economy and the global digital transition.

This stamp features various symbolic elements.
An outstretched human arm: symbolizes the beginnings of manual mail, representing the journey of Arab man in building communication bridges since antiquity, through the exchange of letters and messages.
A futuristic robotic arm: illustrates the modern era and embodies the digital transformation of the postal sector, particularly in the areas of automation, artificial intelligence, and smart delivery.
Moving envelopes: express the very essence of the postal service, evoking the memory of letters that have carried, through the ages, human voices, thoughts, and emotions.
Blue gradients and electronic lines (also featured on the postmark above): suggest the world of technology and innovation, while evoking the reliability and precision of postal services in the digital age.

The emblem of the League of Arab States is finally present in the upper part.
The other stamp above (3 AED, in two copies), printed in a sheetlet of four, was issued on July 30, 2025, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. Since its creation in 2003, the Council has provided a comprehensive national framework for protecting the rights of mothers and children and plays a vital role in positioning them as central partners in the UAE's sustainable development agenda.

This stamp (the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi) pays tribute to the Council's achievements, made possible by the exceptional vision and unwavering dedication of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation," Chairperson of this Council, the General Women's Union, and the Family Development Foundation.

"80th anniversary of the League of Arab States" joint stamp on cover from UAE

As a reminder, the League of Arab States (or Arab League) was established on March 22, 1945, in Cairo, Egypt, following the independence of the Arab states, which were under foreign colonization. It currently comprises 22 member countries, located primarily in North Africa and the Middle East (+ Somalia, Djibouti, and Comoros).
The League of Arab States shares a common mission with the United Nations: promoting peace, security and stability by preventing conflict, resolving disputes and acting in a spirit of solidarity and unity. In doing so, the two organizations also work together to expand economic opportunity, advance respect for human rights and build political inclusion in the Arab world.
Over eight decades, the League has made notable achievements in various fields. It has played a major role in supporting the Palestinian cause, considered the central cause of the Arab nation. It has worked for economic integration through joint agreements and projects.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the League of Arab States, its General Secretariat proposed to member countries the issue of a joint stamp based on a common design.

On March 22, 2025 (official date), only three postal administrations (Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt) issued this joint stamp featuring the 80th anniversary logo (with the emblem of the Arab League in the center) and the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo on the right.
Three other postal administrations (Qatar, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates) also issued this stamp later in 2025, for example on August 18, 2025 by the the UAE postal service with the issue of a second stamp featuring a different 80th anniversary logo on a green background.
These two se-tenant stamps (3 AED each), printed in a miniature sheet of six stamps (three pairs), have been used on the cover above, sent on September 8, 2025, from Dubai. Thank you very much, Mohamed!

"Historical Relationship with Morocco" joint s/s on cover from the United Arab Emirates

Morocco was the first country to support the establishment of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. Since then, the two countries have maintained very close political and economic ties.
This has been clearly reflected in the UAE's consistent stance on Morocco's national causes, foremost among them its unwavering support for the Kingdom's sovereignty over its southern provinces.

Economically, this partnership is strengthened by increasing Emirati investment in key sectors in Morocco, including infrastructure, energy, real estate, and tourism. Morocco is considered one of the most attractive destinations for Emirati investment in Africa, thanks to its political stability, strategic geographic location, and the economic reforms spearheaded by King Mohammed VI.
At the regional and international levels, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates share similar positions on many sensitive issues, whether it be security in the Sahel and Sahara region, the future of the Palestinian cause, or efforts to pacify conflict zones.

In the wake of these unwavering relations of friendship and fraternity between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, Barid Al-Maghrib and Emirates Post released, on November 13, 2024, a beautiful joint set (1 stamp + 1 souvenir sheet) entitled "Historical Relationship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates".
The Emirati version of this joint stamp and (imperforate) souvenir sheet (3 AED and 5 AED) has been used on the cover above, sent on October 21, 2025, from Dubai. Thank you very much, Mohamed!
A symbol combining the green star of the Moroccan flag and the Emirati falcon appears in the center of this souvenir sheet, also including the flags of the two countries and two recent mosques, emblematic of both countries.
On the left, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates, built between 1995 and 2007 in Abu Dhabi. It is designed in a traditional Islamic architectural style, with its composition of columns and arches topped by domes (including the largest mosque dome in the world).

On the right, the Hassan II Mosque, built between 1986 and 1993 in Casablanca, on the Atlantic Ocean. The Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world and its minaret was the tallest in the world (210 meters), before the construction of the Djamaa el Djazaïr Mosque in Algiers.
The third stamp (1 AED) above was issued on December 2, 2021, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates. This stamp depicts, unless I am mistaken, the current emirs and crown princes of the seven emirates that make up the country: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain.

"150 Years of the UPU 1874-2024" stamp on cover from the UAE

In 2024, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) celebrates its 150th anniversary. On October 9, 1874, 22 countries gathered to sign the Treaty of Bern, creating the General Postal Union, which would later become known as the Universal Postal Union (from 1878).
150 years later, the UPU now unites the postal networks of 192 member countries, having realized its founders' vision of establishing a single postal territory to serve people everywhere.
The UPU's theme for its 150th year, "150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations", recognizes this accomplishment, and reinforces its commitment to serve peoples for the decades and centuries to come.
Throughout 2024, the UPU will roll out a series of events and campaigns in celebration of its rich past, dedicated present and promising future, in particular using the hashtag #UPU150 on social media.

The UPU, a specialized agency of the United Nations (since 1947) headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, is the second oldest international organization after the International Telecommunications Union, and constitutes the main forum for cooperation between global postal sector players.

"Gulf Cooperation Council - 40th anniversary" joint stamp on cover from the UAE

Merci beaucoup Mohammed !
In dispersed order (from December 12 to December 26, 2022) and with a year's delay, the 6 postal administrations of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar - have put into circulation a joint stamp on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the creation of this regional organization.
As a reminder, this Council was created at the instigation of Saudi Arabia and under pressure from the United States on May 25, 1981 in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of ensuring the economic and political stability of the region.
This Council is a very political club of Sunni petro-monarchies who are concerned about security in the face of Shiite Iran or neighboring civil wars (Iraq, Syria), also aiming to unify the economic and financial system of the 6 member states.
The stamp (AED 3) issued on December 12, 2022 by the United Arab Emirates Post was used on this cover sent on February 21, 2023 from Dubai. Thank you very much Mohammed!

This joint stamp is featuring the flags and emblematic buildings of each of the 6 member countries of this Gulf Cooperation Council, whose emblem is also present at the top left.
The buildings depicted on this stamp, from left to right: the Kuwait Towers (Kuwait) inaugurated in 1977 and renovated in 1992 after the invasion of the country by Iraq, the spiral minaret of the Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center in Doha (Qatar), the clock tower of Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat (Oman), the Makkah Clock Royal Tower in Mecca, inaugurated in 2012 (Saudi Arabia), the 2 towers of the Bahrain World Trade Center in Manama (Bahrain) and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque inaugurated in 2007 in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
To note that this stamp was also put into circulation in a souvenir sheet with margins including the portraits of the 6 historical heads of state who participated in the creation of this Gulf Cooperation Council in 1981.
Among them, Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, wrongly represented with a white headgear (massar) on the souvenir sheets issued by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. It seems that these souvenir sheets have been withdrawn from circulation and that new souvenir sheets have been issued, in very limited edition...

"50 years of diplomatic relations" joint stamp with Egypt, on cover from United Arab Emirates

From October 26 to 28, 2022, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates celebrated in Cairo the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The United Arab Emirates gained independence from the British protectorate in 1971, establishing relations with countries in the region in the following months.
One of its oldest and strongest ties has been with Egypt, with the UAE becoming one of the top investors in that country in recent years.
In the first nine months of 2022, the Gulf state accounted for 72% of total Arab investment in the country, sending $4.6 billion to support Egyptian industry and commerce...
It should also be noted that the United Arab Emirates supported the military coup of July 3, 2013 in Egypt, against President Morsi, for the benefit of General Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, still in power today.

Characterized by mutual respect and a brotherly relationship that reflects the shared values between the two countries and their people, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt have worked closely together to further increase alliances in various sectors, including the economy, politics, education, media and culture.
These ongoing relations between the two nations serve as a model for bilateral relations between Arab countries.
On this occasion and under the theme "Egypt and the United Arab Emirates - One heart", the postal administrations of the two countries have put into circulation, on January 19, 2023, a joint souvenir sheet, consisting of a large format stamp, devoted to the 50th anniversary of these bilateral relations.
The Emirati stamp (3 AED), with year 2022, extracted here from the souvenir sheet, was used on this pretty cover sent on February 17, 2023 from Dubai. Thank you very much Mohammed!
This stamp features the flags of the two countries with, in the center, the official logo of this 50th anniversary (in golden color), inspired by the pyramids of Giza, with a reference to the 7 emirates constituting the United Arab Emirates.

"Arab League Summit 2022" joint stamp on cover from the United Arab Emirates

During the 41st session of the Permanent Arab Postal Committee, held in Algiers on June 8 and 9, 2022, Algeria's proposal for the issue of a unified Arab postage stamp for 2022 was approved, with the theme of 31st Arab League Summit to be held in Algiers on November 1-2, 2022.
The Algerian Post put this stamp into circulation on August 22, 2022 (general sale), after the postal administration of Egypt and before Oman, Djibouti, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (on November 1, 2022).
As a reminder, the League of Arab States (or Arab League) was created in 1945 following the independence of the Arab states, which were under foreign colonization and is currently composed of 22 member states, located in North Africa and the Middle East mainly (+ Somalia, Djibouti and Comoros).

The United Arab Emirates version of this stamp (3 AED) was used in 2 copies on the pretty cover above, sent on November 14, 2022 from Dubai. Thank you very much Mohammed!
I quite like this round stamp including the emblem of the Arab League (printed here with a slight embossment) with a map and the flag of Algeria in its lower part.
Arab League (and Arab Postal Union) member countries had the freedom to issue their own stamp between August 3, 2022, the annual Arab Postal Day, and November 2, 2022, the closing date of this Arab League Summit.
The United Arab Emirates became a member of the Arab League in 1971, shortly after gaining independence.
The 3rd stamp above (3 AED), issued on November 23, 2021, is dedicated to the "Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award" which honors, since 2009, individuals, teams and organizations who have made a significant sporting contribution in the United Arab Emirates and around the world.

This Prize is designed to celebrate and promote the best initiatives in projects or programs in the field of sport, such as tolerance, knowledge management, community empowerment and the fight against global challenges such as the Covid pandemic.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the current Emir of Dubai, but also Vice President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates.

"2020 International Year of Plant Health" stamp on cover from UAE

The United Nations (in collaboration with FAO) declared 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH), an opportunity to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development.
According to the FAO, plants make up 80% of the food we eat and produce 98% of the oxygen we breathe. Yet, they are under constant and increasing threat from pests and diseases (up to 40% of the world's food crops are destroyed each year).
This theme will be illustrated this year on stamps (Switzerland, Luxembourg, Moldova, United Nations, Vatican City, Latvia, Portugal, Turkey, Serbia, Italy, Tunisia, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Finland, Japan, Slovenia, UAE ...), special cancellations (Moldova), prepaid cards (Poland), ATM stamps (Spain) or € 2.00 commemorative coins (Belgium).

On August 20, 2020, the Emirates Post put into circulation a stamp (3 dirhams, print run: 25,000), printed in sheetlet of 8 stamps, illustrating this theme.
This stamp, used on the right on this letter sent on August 30, 2020 from Dubai (thank you very much Mohammed!), reproduces the official logo (five tree leaves forming a disc) of this International Year of Plant Health (mention in English on this stamp). The slogan accompanying this logo, "Protecting Plants, Protecting Life" is also mentioned in Arabic on this stamp.
The United Arab Emirates have developed many strategies for investing in environmental protection and plant health, in particular the "National Food Security Strategy 2051" launched by the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai, to improve food security and develop a comprehensive national system to enable sustainable food production through the use of modern technologies.

To note that the colors appearing in the frame of this stamp recall those of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the member states of the United Nations and which are gathered in the "2030 Agenda".
Mohammed completed his postage with two stamps part of a definitive series started in 2007, representing a stylized falcon, one of the symbols of this country. These 2 stamps were respectively issued on January 31, 2007 (2 dirhams) and April 7, 2013 (1.50 dirhams).

"Al Quds, capital of Palestine" joint stamp on cover from UAE

On October 9, 2019, the World Post Day, a new unified Arab postage stamp was put into circulation, having for theme this year "Al Quds, capital of Palestine".
This issue, eminently political, aims to recall the position of the member countries of the League of Arab States concerning the spiritual and religious status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem), considered as the capital of the state of Palestine.
Jerusalem has been a point of tension between Jews and Muslims for 70 years, the state of Israel having made West Jerusalem its capital in 1949 and then "reunited" Jerusalem in 1967.
For the international community, East Jerusalem is considered as "occupied" by Israel even though Jerusalem was proclaimed Israel's "eternal capital" in 1980 and then capital of Palestine in 1988, although the Palestinian Authority does not sit there.
According to the international community, the status of the city has to be negotiated between Israelis and Palestinians.

This joint stamp is clearly a response from the League of Arab States countries to the recent projects of embassy transfers of some countries in Israel to Jerusalem, the USA in particular ...
At a technical committee (held on February 7, 2019) evaluating the proposed models for the unified Arab postage stamp for the year 2019, the Arab countries have selected the project proposed by the Algerian ministry of Posts, a creation made by the visual artist Teyeb Laidi (born in 1971).
This stamp is featuring the Dome of the Rock which houses the "Rock of the foundation", the place where, according to the Muslim tradition, Muhammad arrived in Jerusalem from Mecca. With the Al-Aqsa Mosque, this site is one of the Muslim holy places on the Temple Mount.
A Palestinian flag, two doves as well as the emblem of the League of Arab States are also featured on this stamp.
The Emirati version of this stamp (3 dirhams, print run: 25,000), printed in a sheetlet of 9 stamps, was used on the right on this cover sent on August 30, 2020 from Dubai ("Customer Happiness Centre"). Thank you very much Mohammed!
Unless I'm mistaken, it seems that this joint stamp was issued only by Algeria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Qatar, Jordan, United Arab Emirates and Tunisia.
Mohammed completed his postage with two stamps part of a definitive series started in 2007, representing a stylized falcon, one of the symbols of this country. These 2 stamps were respectively issued on January 31, 2007 (2 dirhams) and April 7, 2013 (1.50 dirhams).

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) on cover from the United Arab Emirates

Outside India, it seems that a hundred postal administrations have issued or will put into circulation this year stamps dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), a record!
On August 24, 2019, the Post of the United Arab Emirates (Emirates Post) also issued two stamps (3 dirhams each) including one representing a famous portrait of Gandhi smiling.
These two stamps were printed in the same minisheet of 4 stamps (2 of each, print run: 6,000), 2 of which were extracted to stamp the beautiful letter below sent on October 31, 2019 from Dubai. Thank you very much Tristan!
To note that these stamps were officially unveiled on August 24, 2019 at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed.

The second stamp of this series depicts the silhouette of Mahatma Gandhi as part of a 150 number logo, the 0 evoking a spinning wheel ("Charkha") used to spin cotton, the emblematic instrument of Gandhi against British tutelage. From 1921 he urged his people not to buy clothes from abroad for the benefit of those produced locally and gave the example by spinning himself on several types of spinning wheels.
Mahatma Gandhi, born in 1869 in Pordanbar (state of Gujarat), nicknamed the "Father of the Nation" in India, was one of the pioneers of the country's independence movement, advocating disobedience, non-violence and the concept of "swaraj" (self-determination). On January 30, 1948, on the way to a prayer meeting, Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi by a nationalist Hindu.
In a statement, the CEO of Emirates Post said this about this issue: "This stamp, designed to celebrate an inspirational historical figure, also demonstrates the strong ties the UAE has with India and the contributions Indians have and will play in the development of our communities here in the country".

"Arab Postal Day 2012" joint stamp on card from the United Arab Emirates

Merci beaucoup Pierre !
Following a recommendation of the Arab Permanent Postal Commission (APPC), under the auspices of the Arab League, the postal administrations of the 22 member countries were invited to issue again (after 2008) a joint set of stamps, on August 3, 2012, to commemorate the Arab Postal Day
The Arab Postal Day is indeed celebrated every year on August 3 to highlight the role played by the Postal services in the development and cooperation between the Arab countries and to mark the importance of communication and information technologies in the Arab world.
This joint stamp (225 Fils) issued by the United Arab Emirates Post is present on the card below sent from the Abu Dhabi Central Post on January 13, 2018. Thank you very much Pierre!

Following a design competition organized by the APPC, the illustration reproduced on this joint stamp is a work by Mohamed Nidham (Sultanate of Oman) and shows a map of the countries of the Arab League as well as a carrier pigeon (or is it a dove ?). The emblem of the Arab League is also included on the right side of the stamp.
As in 2008, this joint stamp 2012 was put into circulation by only half of the member countries of the Arab league, the United Arab Emirates having not respected the date of official issue of August 3, 2012 (issue on August 15, 2012)...
Pierre completed his postage with a stamp (4 Dirhams) put into circulation in the first part (7 stamps) of a definitive series, issued on January 31, 2007, depicting a stylized falcon.
