ce qu'a déclaré le finlandais Martti Ahtisaari lors de la remise de son Prix Nobel de la paix à Oslo, le 10 décembre 2008.
Ce prix Nobel était un événement important en Finlande, qui n'en a pas remporté beaucoup
depuis 1901 : Frans Eemil Sillanpää (Littérature en 1939), Artturi
Ilmari Virtanen (Chimie en 1945), Ragnar Arthur Granit (Médecine en
1967), Bengt Holmström (Sciences économiques en 2016) à titre individuel.
D'autres finlandais ont également reçu un
prix Nobel de la Paix étant membres d'une organisation ou association
(Timo Kattelmäki (UNPF) en 1988, Heikki Ollila (AIEA) en 2005 et Riitta
Pipatti (IPCC) en 2007).
Martti Ahtisaari (1937-2023) a été le 10ème président de la république de
Finlande (de 1994 à 2000) mais également un diplomate des nations unies
et un négociateur infatigable en faveur de la paix. Il jouera un rôle
décisif dans de nombreuses négociations de paix à travers le monde :
indépendance de la Namibie, province autonomiste d'Aceh (Indonésie),
désarmement de l'IRA en Ulster, guerre en Bosnie, statut du Kosovo...).
"All conflicts can be settled, and there are no excuses for allowing them to become eternal".
This is what was stated by Finnish Martti Ahtisaari at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo on December 10, 2008.
This Nobel Peace Prize was an important event in Finland, that has not received a lot of other Nobel Prizes since 1901 : Frans Eemil Sillanpää (Literature in 1939), Artturi Ilmari Virtanen (Chemistry in 1945), Ragnar Arthur Granit (Medicine in 1967), Bengt Holmström (Economic sciences in 2016) each individually.
Other Finns have also received a Nobel Peace Prize as members of an organization or association (Timo Kattelmäki (UNPF) in 1988, Heikki Ollila (IAEA) in 2005 and Riitta Pipatti (IPCC) in 2007).
Martti Ahtisaari (1937-2023) was the 10th president of the Republic of Finland (from 1994 to 2000) but also a United Nations diplomat and a tireless negotiator for peace. He played a decisive role in numerous peace negotiations around the world: independence of Namibia, autonomous province of Aceh, Indonesia, disarmament of the IRA in Ulster, war in Bosnia, status of Kosovo...).
Le 10 décembre 2008, la poste finlandaise avait déjà émis un timbre en l'honneur de Martti Ahtisaari à l'occasion de ce Prix Nobel de la paix (un timbre avait aussi été émie en 1997 pendant son mandat présidentiel, pour marquer son 60ème anniversaire).
Martti Ahtisaari est décédé le 16 octobre 2023 et un 3ème timbre "In Memoriam" lui a été consacré, mis en circulation le 15 décembre 2023, utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessus envoyée le premier jour d'émission depuis la ville de Mikkeli. Merci beaucoup Liisa !
Ce timbre (tarif domestique jusqu'à 50g - 2,30€ actuellement, tirage inconnu), conçu par Timo Berry (à partir d'une photographie noir et blanc de Tuukka Koski), a été imprimé en carnet de 10 timbres autocollants.
A noter que ce tarif de 2,30€ correspond également à l'envoi d'une lettre internationale jusqu'à 20g en mode économique.
Le précédent timbre de deuil avait été émis en Finlande à la mémoire du président Mauno Koivisto en 2017. Des timbres de deuil ont également été émis dans le passé : athlète Paavo Nurmi, compositeur Jean Sibelius et présidents Urho Kekkonen, P.E. Svinhufvud et Kyösti Kallio.
D'autres administrations postales plus exotiques (Comores, Guinée, Guinée-Bissau) ont déjà également émis des timbres rendant hommage à Martti Ahtisaari, probablement l'une des personnalités finlandaises les plus connues dans le monde.
On December 10, 2008, the Finnish Post had already issued a stamp in honor of Martti Ahtisaari on the occasion of this Nobel Peace Prize (a stamp was also issued in 1997 during his presidential mandate, to mark his 60th birthday).
Martti Ahtisaari died on October 16, 2023 and a 3rd "In Memoriam" stamp was dedicated to him, put into circulation on December 15, 2023, used on the cover above sent on the first day of issue from the town of Mikkeli. Thank you very much Liisa!
This stamp (domestic price up to 50g - €2.30 currently, unknown print run), designed by Timo Berry (based on a black and white photograph by Tuukka Koski), was printed in a booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps.
To note that this €2.30 rate also corresponds to sending an international letter up to 20g in "economy" mode.
