Pour illustrer son timbre EUROPA mis en circulation le 3 mai 2017, la poste tchèque a choisi une jolie vue du château de Frýdlant situé dans le nord du pays, près de la frontière polonaise.
Ce château, un des sites historiques les plus visités du pays, est composé d'un château médiéval (milieu du 13ème siècle) avec une imposante tour (la partie visible sur ce timbre) et d'une partie résidentielle datant de la Renaissance (conçue par Marco Spazzio di Lancio), marquée par Albrecht von Wallenstein (1583-1634), homme de guerre de la noblesse de Bohême, et la période de la guerre de Trente Ans.
Le château fort, remanié à la Renaissance, a été ouvert au public dès 1801, devenant le plus ancien château-musée d'Europe centrale (des armes datant du 12ème siècle à la 1ère guerre mondiale y sont exposées).
To illustrate its EUROPA stamp put into circulation on May 3, 2017, the Czech Post chose a beautiful view of the Frýdlant Castle located in the north of the country, near the Polish border.
This castle, one of the most visited historical sites in the country, is made up of a medieval castle (mid-13th century) with an imposing tower (the visible part on that stamp) and a residential part dating from the Renaissance (designed by Marco Spazzio di Lancio), marked by Albrecht von Wallenstein (1583-1634), a warrior of the nobility of Bohemia, and the period of the Thirty Years' War.
The castle, remodeled in the Renaissance period, was opened to the public in 1801, becoming the oldest castle-museum in Central Europe (weapons from the 12th century to the 1st World War are exhibited).

Les motifs végétaux représentés dans le ciel sur le timbre ont été inspirés des décors réalisés selon la technique du sgraffite à la Renaissance, dans la cour de ce château.
Le TAD Premier Jour (cavalier) ainsi que les 2 personnages sur la gravure sur cette enveloppe font également partie de ces riches décorations.
La partie centrale de cette gravure représente la tour abritant un escalier, faisant partie du château Renaissance, également recouverte de sgraffites.

The plant motifs depicted in the sky on the stamp were inspired by the sgraffito decoration from the Renaissance, in the courtyard of this castle.
The FDC cancellation (rider) as well as the two characters on the engraving on this envelope are also part of these rich decorations.
The central part of this engraving represents the tower housing a staircase, part of the Renaissance castle, also covered with sgraffito.
