Le 12 août 2008, avec les chefs d'état de l'Ukraine et des 3 pays baltes, le président de la République de Pologne, Lech Kaczyński (1949-2010) prononçait un discours à Tbilissi sur la place de la Liberté, dans un contexte de tentative d'invasion de la Géorgie par les troupes russes, défendant l'intégrité territoriale du pays.
Dans ce discours, il déclarait que la Russie, après avoir envahi la Géorgie, pourrait menacer également l'Ukraine, les pays baltes et même son propre pays, la Pologne. A date, les troupes russes sont de facto toujours présentes sur le territoire de la Géorgie, via les républiques d'Abkhazie ou d'Ossétie du sud non reconnues par la communauté internationale.
10 ans après la disparition tragique du président polonais Lech Kaczyński (ainsi que son épouse et une délégation officielle) dans un accident d'avion à Smolensk, les administrations postale de Pologne et de Géorgie ont émis un timbre commun à son effigie. 
On August 12, 2008, with the heads of state of Ukraine and the three Baltic countries, the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński (1949-2010) delivered a speech in Tbilisi on the Freedom Square, in a context of attempted invasion of Georgia by Russian troops, defending the territorial integrity of the country.
In this speech, he said that Russia, after invading Georgia, could also threaten Ukraine, the Baltic countries and even his own country, Poland. To date, Russian troops are still de facto present on the territory of Georgia, via the republics of Abkhazia or South Ossetia not recognized by the international community.
10 years after the tragic death of Polish President Lech Kaczyński (along with his wife and an official delegation) in a plane crash in Smolensk, the postal administrations of Poland and Georgia have issued a joint stamp with his effigy.

 

La version polonaise de ce timbre intitulé "Pamiętamy 2010-2020" ("Nous nous souvenons 2010-2020"), émis le 10 avril 2020 (le 7 juin 2020 pour le timbre géorgien), figure en 2 exemplaires sur cette jolie lettre envoyée le 11 août 2020 depuis Cracovie. Merci beaucoup Krisztian ! 
Conçu par Roch Stefaniak, ce timbre (3,30 PLN, tirage : 144000), imprimé en feuille de 12 timbres, représente un portrait de l'ancien président polonais, avec le palais présidentiel à Varsovie (et la statue équestre de Józef Antoni Poniatowski) à gauche ainsi que la place de la Liberté à Tbilissi (avec le monument représentant Saint-Georges terrassant le dragon) à droite.
Les drapeaux et armoiries des 2 pays sont également présents sur ce timbre.
The Polish version of this stamp entitled "Pamiętamy 2010-2020" ("We remember 2010-2020"), issued on April 10, 2020 (on June 7, 2020 for the Georgian stamp), was used in two copies on this nice letter sent on August 11, 2020 from Krakow. Thank you very much Krisztian! 
Designed by Roch Stefaniak, this stamp (3.30 PLN, print run: 144,000), printed in sheet of 12 stamps, depicts a portrait of the former Polish President, with the Presidential Palace in Warsaw (and the equestrian statue of Józef Antoni Poniatowski) on the left as well the Freedom Square in Tbilisi (with the monument representing St George slaying the dragon) on the right.
The flags and coats of arms of the two countries are also present on this stamp.
