Le 4 mai 1949, la quasi-totalité de l'équipe de football du Torino FC était décimée suite à une catastrophe aérienne concernant le vol spécial Avio-Linee Italiane qui faisait la liaison entre Lisbonne et Turin.
Parmi les 31 victimes, Valentino Mazzola (né le 26 janvier 1919), un des grands joueurs italiens de cette époque, jouant pour le Torino FC entre 1942 et 1949, inscrivant 97 buts pour 170 matchs joués.
Avec le Torino, Valentino Mazzola sera sacré champion d'Italie à 5 reprises (1943, 1946, 1947, 1948 et 1949) et remportera une Coupe d'Italie en 1943.
Avant sa carrière au Torino, il a joué au Venezia FC pendant 2 saisons. Il a été sélectionné 12 fois en équipe nationale d'Italie entre 1942 et 1949 (4 buts).
On May 4, 1949, almost all of the Torino FC football team was decimated after an air disaster regarding the special flight Avio-Linee Italiane which was linking Lisbon and Turin.
Among the 31 victims, Valentino Mazzola (born on January 26, 1919), one of the great Italian players of that time, playing for Torino FC between 1942 and 1949, scoring 97 goals for 170 games played.
With the Torino FC, Valentino Mazzola was crowned Champion of Italy on 5 occasions (1943, 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949) and won a Cup of Italy in 1943.
Prior to his Torino FC career, he played for the Venezia FC for two seasons. He was selected 12 times in the national team of Italy between 1942 and 1949 (4 goals).
Le 26 janvier 2019, la poste italienne a mis en circulation un timbre (tarif domestique "B" - 1,10€ pour un envoi jusqu'à 20g) consacré au 100ème anniversaire (jour pour jour) de la naissance de Valentino Mazzola.
Conçu par Fabio Abbati, ce timbre représente un portrait du joueur ainsi que le taureau ("Il Toro"), symbole du club du Torino FC.
Trois exemplaires de ce timbre autocollant figurent sur ce joli pli Premier Jour ci-dessus, avec TAD de Turin. Merci beaucoup Paolo !
A noter ce 3ème TAD ("Mole Antonelliana") en haut à gauche, appliqué le 31 janvier 2019 par ce même Espace Philatélique de Turin.
Paolo a complété son affranchissement avec un timbre courant (0,25€), émis le 13 février 2013, afin d'atteindre le tarif "Posta Priority Internazionale" en vigueur (3,50€ pour un envoi en Europe jusqu'à 50g).
On January 26, 2019, the Italian Post issued a stamp (domestic rate "B" - € 1.10 for a shipment up to 20g) dedicated to the 100th anniversary (day to day) of the birth of Valentino Mazzola.
Designed by Fabio Abbati, that stamp represents a portrait of the player as well as the bull ("Il Toro"), symbol of the Torino FC.
Three copies of this self-adhesive stamp are present on this nice First Day cover above, with cancellations from Turin. Thank you very much Paolo!
To note this 3rd postmark ("Mole Antonelliana") in the top left, applied on January 31, 2019 by the same Philatelic bureau of Turin.
