De nombreuses administrations postales (Allemagne, Ukraine, France, Jersey, Guernesey, République serbe de Bosnie, Monaco, Vatican, Moldavie, Portugal, Macédoine du Nord, Bulgarie, Liban, Roumanie, SMOM, Gibraltar, Autriche, Croatie, Brésil, îles Féroé, Liechtenstein, Serbie, Costa Rica, Pologne, Israël, Mexique, Vietnam, Malte, Azerbaïdjan, Uruguay, HP Mostar, Macao, Argentine, Bosnie-Herzégovine, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Albanie, Espagne...) ont émis en 2020 des timbres commémorant le 250ème anniversaire de la naissance du compositeur et pianiste allemand Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), probablement l'un des musiciens les plus connus à travers le monde, avec Mozart.
Le 26 février 2020, la poste portugaise a mis en circulation un timbre et un bloc-feuillet (conception : agence "B2 Design") sur ce thème, utilisés pour affranchir cette jolie lettre envoyée en mai 2021 (la date n'est pas lisible sur le TAD) depuis la ville de Sobreda, située sur l'autre rive du Tage, en face de Lisbonne. Many postal administrations (Germany, Ukraine, France, Jersey, Guernsey, Serbian Republic of Bosnia, Monaco, Vatican City, Moldova, Portugal, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Lebanon, Romania, SMOM, Gibraltar, Austria, Croatia, Brazil, Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Costa Rica, Poland, Israel, Mexico, Vietnam, Malta, Azerbaijan, Uruguay, HP Mostar, Macau, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Albania, Spain ...) have issued stamps in 2020 commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), probably one of the most famous musicians around the world, with Mozart.
On February 26, 2020, the Portuguese Post put into circulation a stamp and a souvenir sheet (design: agency "B2 Design") on this theme, used to stamp this pretty letter sent in May 2021 (the date is not readable on the postmark) from the town of Sobreda, located on the other bank of the Tagus, opposite Lisbon. Le timbre (0,91€, tirage : 100000) a été conçu à partir d'un célèbre portrait du musicien (en train de composer la Missa solemnis) datant de 1820, par le peintre allemand Joseph Karl Stieler, exposé dans sa maison natale à Bonn, figurant dans le fond du bloc-feuillet.
Ce bloc-feuillet (2€, tirage : 35000) montre en effet cette maison natale depuis les jardins avec, à gauche, un des 3 bustes de Beethoven présents dans ce jardin, par le sculpteur Cantemir Riscutia (exécuté vers 1998).
A noter que le logo officiel des célébrations de ce 250ème anniversaire, "BTHVN2020", rappelant que Beethoven signait parfois certaines de ses partitions et lettres avec uniquement les 5 consonnes de son nom (cf cette signature présente sur le timbre du bloc-feuillet), est présent sur cette série.
A noter également dans la marge inférieure du bloc-feuillet, le logo officiel des 500 ans de la création des services postaux au Portugal.
Avec sa musique immortelle, Beethoven est considéré comme un artiste radical et un visionnaire créatif, ayant défendu passionnément les idéaux de liberté et de fraternité, en particulier à travers sa Symphonie n°9 composée entre 1822 et 1824, ayant profondément influencé l'histoire de la musique au 19ème et 20ème siècle.  
The stamp (€ 0.91, print run: 100,000) was designed from a famous portrait of the musician (composing the Missa solemnis) dating from 1820 by the German painter Joseph Karl Stieler, on display in his birthplace in Bonn, appearing on the souvenir sheet's background.
This souvenir sheet (€ 2.00, print run: 35,000) indeed shows this birthplace from the gardens with, on the left, one of the 3 busts of Beethoven present in this place, by sculptor Cantemir Riscutia (dating from 1998).
To note that the official logo of the celebrations of this 250th anniversary, "BTHVN2020", reminding that Beethoven sometimes signed some of his scores and letters with only the 5 consonants of his name (see this signature on the stamp of the souvenir sheet), is present on this stamp set.
To note also in the lower margin of the souvenir sheet, the official logo of the 500 years of the creation of the postal services in Portugal.
With his immortal music, Beethoven is considered a radical artist and a creative visionary, having passionately defended the ideals of freedom and brotherhood, in particular through his Symphony No. 9 composed between 1822 and 1824, having deeply influenced the history of music in the 19th and 20th century.
