"Council of Europe defends Freedom of expression" stamp on FDC from Strasbourg

Timbre "Le Conseil de l'Europe défend la liberté d'expression" sur FDC de Strasbourg

Le 1er octobre 2021 (vente générale), la poste française a mis en circulation un nouveau timbre de service pour le Conseil de l'Europe, consacré à la défense de la liberté d'expression.
La liberté d'expression est une pierre angulaire de la démocratie et un droit fondamental précieux pour chacun, indispensable à toute société démocratique, garantie par l'article 10 de la Convention européenne des droits de l'homme.
En complément, le Conseil de l'Europe a élaboré un ensemble de normes portant sur différents aspects du droit à la liberté d'expression tels que la liberté des médias, l'accès à l'information, la lutte contre le discours de haine, la liberté d'internet.
Ce droit comprend la liberté d'opinion et la liberté de recevoir ou de communiquer des informations ou des idées sans qu'il puisse y avoir ingérence d'autorités publiques et sans considération de frontière. 
On October 1, 2021 (general sale), the French Post put into circulation a new so-called "service" stamp for the Council of Europe, dedicated to the defense of freedom of expression.
Freedom of expression is a cornerstone of democracy and a precious fundamental right for everyone, indispensable for any democratic society, guaranteed by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
In addition, the Council of Europe has drawn up a set of standards covering various aspects of the right to freedom of expression such as freedom of the media, access to information, the fight against hate speech, internet freedom.
This right includes the freedom of opinion and the freedom to receive or impart information or ideas without interference from public authorities and regardless of frontiers.

 

Merci beaucoup Olivier pour ce pli Premier Jour concernant ce timbre (1,50€, tirage : 300000) avec, comme de coutume, un TAD de Strasbourg (où siège le Conseil de l'Europe) du 30 septembre 2021 incluant, comme de coutume, les 12 étoiles du drapeau européen et non le logo du Conseil de l'Europe...
Ce timbre reproduit une œuvre de l'artiste cubain Angel Boligán Corbo (né en 1965), présentée lors du Forum mondial de la  démocratie 2019 dans le cadre de l'exposition "Cartooning for Peace".
Angel Boligán Corbo est diplômé des Beaux-arts de La Havane en 1987 et vit au Mexique depuis 1992, où il travaille comme caricaturiste pour le Journal El Universal et le magazine Conozca Más (entre autres). Il est également le fondateur de l'agence CartonClub (le club de la caricature latine).
J'aime bien cette image de la main d'un écrivain avec une goutte d'encre se transformant en planète Terre.

Pour rappel, le Conseil de l'Europe dispose (depuis 1958) de ses propres timbres dits "de service", incluant la mention "France" (et imprimés par Philaposte).

Thank you very much Olivier for this First Day cover rregarding this stamp (€ 1.50, print run: 300,000) with, as usual, a cancellation from Strasbourg (where the Council of Europe is located) of September 30, 2021 including the 12 stars of the European flag rather than the logo of the Council of Europe ... 

This stamp reproduces a work by Cuban artist Angel Boligán Corbo (born in 1965), presented at the World Forum for Democracy 2019 as part of the "Cartooning for Peace" exhibition.

Angel Boligán Corbo graduated from Fine Arts in Havana in 1987 and has lived in Mexico since 1992, where he works as a cartoonist for El Universal Journal and Conozca Más magazine (among others). He is also the founder of the CartonClub agency (the Latin caricature club).
