"President Lee Teng-hui's death anniversary" stamp set on FDC from Taiwan

Série "Anniversaire de la mort du président Lee Teng-hui" sur FDC de Taïwan

Le 30 juillet 2021 (année 110 localement), la Chunghwa Post de Taïwan a mis en circulation une série (4 timbres) consacrée à l'ancien président de la République Lee Teng-hui (1923-2020) à l'occasion du 1er anniversaire de sa disparition.
Membre du Kuomintang, parti politique créé en 1912 par Sun Yat-sen, Lee Teng-hui a marqué l'histoire contemporaine de Taïwan en consolidant la démocratie et en développant la modernisation de l'île (infrastructures, industrie...).
Lee Teng-hui fut vice-président à partir de 1984 puis devient président en 1988 après la mort du président Chiang Ching-kuo dont il achève le mandat, avant d'être élu (par le parlement) en 1990 et réélu (1ères élections directes par le peuple) en 1996 (fin de mandat en 2000).

On July 30, 2021 (year 110 locally), the Chunghwa Post of Taiwan put into circulation a series (4 stamps) dedicated to the former President of the Republic Lee Teng-hui (1923-2020) on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death.
Member of the Kuomintang, a political party created in 1912 by Sun Yat-sen, Lee Teng-hui has marked the contemporary history of Taiwan by consolidating democracy and developing the modernization of the island (infrastructure, industry, etc.).
Lee Teng-hui was vice-president from 1984 then became president in 1988 after the death of President Chiang Ching-kuo, before being elected (by parliament) in 1990 and re-elected (first direct elections by the people) in 1996 (end of mandate in 2000).

Lee Teng-hui est représenté souriant sur ces 4 timbres, sur fond blanc, par déférence au thème de la lumière splendide (qui fait écho à la signification du caractère chinois hui dans son nom) mais aussi pour suggérer le passage du temps, la mémoire et la tolérance.
Les 2 timbres à 8 NT$ évoquent respectivement la création du système national d'assurance maladie et la construction d'un train à grande vitesse, ainsi que le renforcement des fondements de la démocratie.
Les 2 timbres à 15 NT$ représentent Lee Teng-hui saluant le peuple (annonçant que la démocratisation était arrivée et ouvrant la page d'une nouvelle ère de l'histoire de Taïwan) et la mention "Toujours dans mon cœur", en référence à l'esprit avec lequel l'ancien président a veillé sur le peuple, avec l'image de la montagne de Jade (ou Yu Shan), point culminant de l'île, dans le fond.

Lee Teng-hui is represented smiling on these 4 stamps, on a white background, in deference to the theme of splendorous light (which echoes the meaning of the Chinese character hui in his name) but also to suggest the passage of time, memory and tolerance.

The two NT$ 8 stamps respectively evoke the creation of the national health insurance system and the construction of a high-speed train, as well as the strengthening of the foundations of democracy.

The two NT$ 15 stamps depict Lee Teng-hui greeting the people (announcing that democratization has arrived and opening the page of a new era in Taiwanese history) and the mention "Always in my heart", in reference in the spirit with which the former president watched over the people, with the image of Mount Jade (or Yu Shan), the highest point of the island, in the background.
