Du 1er au 8 août 2015, l'île de la Réunion organisait (pour la 3ème fois) les jeux des îles de l'océan Indien, une compétition multi-sports concernant les athlètes de 7 îles, principalement situées dans le sud-ouest de l'océan Indien : Maurice, Seychelles, Comores, Madagascar, Maldives et les 2 îles françaises de Mayotte et de la Réunion.
Ces jeux sont organisés tous les 4 ans, depuis 1979, et cette édition 2015 est la 9ème, la prochaine devant normalement être organisée en 2019 aux Comores. A noter que le Sri Lanka, initialement impliqué dans ces jeux, n'a finalement jamais participé...
Comme cela avait été le cas en 1985 et 2003 lorsque Maurice a organisé ces jeux, la poste mauricienne a mis en circulation, le 1er août 2015, un timbre (17 Rs) consacré à la 9ème édition de ces jeux.

From 1 to August 8, 2015, the island of Reunion organized (for the 3rd time) the Indian Ocean Islands Games, a multi-sport event for athletes coming from seven islands, located mainly in the southwest Indian Ocean : Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives and the two French islands of Mayotte and Reunion.
These games are held every four years since 1979, and this 2015 edition is the ninth one, the next edition should normally be organized in 2019 in the Comoros. To note that Sri Lanka, initially involved in these games, finally never participated...
As it was the case in 1985 and 2003 when Mauritius organized these games, the Mauritius Post has put into circulation on August 1, 2015, a stamp (Rs 17) devoted to the 9th edition of these games.

A noter que, depuis 2012, la poste mauricienne n'émet plus de TAD Premier Jour illustrés mais uniquement des TAD classiques incluant la mention "First Day of Issue", l'heure et la date et la mention "Mauritius" sans indication précise de lieu...Grâce au 2ème TAD ci-dessus, je sais que ce FDC était distribué par le bureau postal Waterfront de Port-Louis.
Ce timbre reproduit simplement le logo de ces jeux à l'île de la Réunion, avec l'intitulé de ces jeux en français.
La partie gauche de cette enveloppe permet de situer les 7 îles participantes dans l'océan Indien, alors que la bande inférieure montre la mascotte de ces jeux, TiBayoun (une sorte de hérisson), dans les 14 disciplines sportives de ces jeux.
La Réunion a terminé à la 1ère place (209 médailles) de ces jeux, devant Maurice et Madagascar, les Comores terminant à la dernière place (0 médaille) car cette délégation a quitté ces jeux dès la cérémonie d'ouverture, après que Mayotte ait défilé derrière le drapeau français au lieu du drapeau de ces jeux (comme le prévoit la charte des jeux des îles)...
To note that, since 2012, the Mauritian Post no longer uses FDC illustrated cancellations but only conventional postmarks including the words "First Day of Issue", the hour and date, and the word "Mauritius" without more precise indication of place...
Thanks to the second postmark above, I know that this FDC was distributed by the Waterfront post office in Port Louis.
That stamp simply reproduces the logo of these games in the island of Reunion, with the title of these games written in French.
The left side of this envelope allows to locate the 7 participating islands in the Indian Ocean, while the lower band shows the mascot of these games, TiBayoun (a kind of hedgehog) in the 14 sports of the games.
The island of Réunion finished these games at the 1st rank (209 medals), ahead Mauritius and Madagascar, Comoros finishing in last place (0 medal) because this delegation left the games from the opening ceremony, after that the Mayotte delegation walked behind the French flag instead of the flag of the games (as stipulated in the Islands Games Charter)...
