Charles Ier ou Carol Ier (1839-1914), prince d'origine allemande de la maison de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, fut prince souverain des Principautés Unies de Roumanie entre 1866 et 1881 puis 1er roi de Roumanie à partir de 1881, 4 ans après la proclamation de l'indépendance du pays, jusqu'en 1914.
Le 10 mai 2016, la poste roumaine a mis en circulation une nouvelle série (2 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) consacrée au 150ème anniversaire de la fondation de cette dynastie royale roumaine, qui dirigea le pays jusqu'en 1947 suite à l'instauration de la République populaire roumaine et l'exil du roi Michel Ier (né en 1921 et prétendant actuel au trône).
Charles I or Carol I (1839-1914), German-born prince of the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, was sovereign prince of the United Principalities of Romania between 1866 and 1881 and then the first king of Romania from 1881, 4 years after the proclamation of country's independence, until 1914.
On May 10, 2016, the Romanian Post has released a new series (2 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Royal Dynasty, ruling the country until 1947 following the introduction of the Romanian People's Republic and the exile of King Michael I (born in 1921 and cuurent pretender to the throne).
Un des 2 timbres de cette série (4,50 L) a été utilisé sur cet intéressant FDC ci-dessus, avec TAD Premier Jour de Bucarest incluant la mention en latin "Nihil sine deo" ("Rien sans dieu"), la devise de la maison de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen et de la famille royale de Roumanie. Merci beaucoup Dorin et Mihnea !
A noter également l'illustration à gauche sur cette enveloppe montrant les armoiries du Royaume de Roumanie (entre 1881 et 1921).
Le timbre ci-dessus (conception : Mihai Vămăşescu) représente le collier de l'Ordre de Carol Ier, créé en 1906 à l'occasion des 40 ans de règne de ce roi, la plus haute décoration du pays jusqu'en 1947.
One of the two stamps of this series (L 4.50) was used on this interesting FDC above with cancellation from Bucharest including the mention in Latin "Nihil sine Deo" ("Nothing without god"), the motto of the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and the royal family of Romania. To note also the illustration to the left on this envelope showing the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Romania (in use from 1881 to 1921).
The stamp above (design : Mihai Vămăşescu) is featuring the collar of the Order of Carol I, established in 1906 to mark the 40 years of this king's reign, the highest decoration of the country up to 1947.

On the same theme, two special postmarks have been put into circulation the same day in Bucharest, devoted respectively to the 135th anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Romania (above) and the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Carol I of Hohenzollern on the throne of the United Principalities of Romania (below).

The stamp above (L 3.10) is part of a series of 4 stamps, issued on January 30, 2015, devoted to the different royal couples who have succeeded on the throne of Romania, between 1881 and 1947, King Carol I and his wife Elisabeth here.
It's worth noting on this envelope the reproduction of a Romanian stamp dating from 1906, marking the 40 years of King Carol I's reign.
Le 2ème timbre (1,20 L) utilisé sur l'autre côté de cette enveloppe (ci-dessus), fait partie d'une série de 3 timbres, émise le 27 janvier 2006 et consacrée à différentes personnalités, Ion C. Brătianu (1821-1891) ici qui fut en particulier Premier Ministre entre 1876 et 1888 sous le règne du roi Carol Ier.
The 2nd stamp (L 1.20) used on the other side of this envelope (above), was part of a series of 3 stamps, issued on January 27, 2006 and dedicated to different personalities, Ion C. Brătianu (1821-1891) here, who was in particular Prime Minister between 1876 and 1888 under the reign of King Carol I.
