De nombreuses administrations postales (Allemagne, Ukraine, France, Jersey, Guernesey, République serbe de Bosnie, Monaco, Vatican, Moldavie, Portugal, Macédoine du Nord, Hongrie...) ont déjà émis ou vont émettre en 2020 des timbres commémorant le 250ème anniversaire de la naissance du compositeur et pianiste allemand Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), probablement l'un des musiciens les plus connus à travers le monde, avec Mozart.
Le 20 mai 2020, la poste bulgare a mis en circulation un élégant bloc-feuillet (3 leva, tirage : 9500), conçu par Stefan Kalapishev, composé d'un timbre (portrait de Beethoven) et, dans les marges, de la première page de la partition d'Eroica (sur laquelle on peut voir la dédicace à Napoléon raturée).
Cette Symphonie n° 3 fut à l'origine nommée "Sinfonia grande, intitolata Bonaparte", dédiée ainsi à Napoléon Bonaparte, que le compositeur admirait.
Lorsque Napoléon est proclamé empereur des français en 1804, Beethoven en est apparemment si furieux qu'il rature le nom de Bonaparte de cette première page, avec une force telle qu'il en brise sa plume et troue le papier !
Many postal administrations (Germany, Ukraine, France, Jersey, Guernsey, Bosnian Serb Republic, Monaco, Vatican, Moldova, Portugal, North Macedonia, Hungary ...) have already issued or will issue in 2020 stamps commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), probably one of the best known musicians around the world, with Mozart.
On May 20, 2020, the Bulgarian Post put into circulation a very elegant souvenir sheet (3 leva, print run: 9,500), designed by Stefan Kalapishev, composed of one stamp (portrait of Beethoven) and, in the margins, of the Eroica's title page (which shows his erasure of dedication of the work to Napoleon Bonaparte).
This Symphony No. 3 was originally named "Sinfonia grande, intitolata Bonaparte", thus dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte, admired by the composer.
When Napoleon was proclaimed Emperor of the French in 1804, Beethoven was apparently so furious that he erased the name of Bonaparte from this title page, with such force that he broke his dip pen and made a hole in the paper!

A noter également sur ce bloc-feuillet, en bas à gauche, la présence d'une citation de Beethoven : "La musique est une révélation plus haute que toute sagesse et toute philosophie".
Aucune mention sur ce bloc-feuillet du logo officiel des célébrations de ce 250ème anniversaire, "BTHVN2020" (rappelant que Beethoven signait parfois certaines de ses partitions et lettres avec uniquement les 5 consonnes de son nom).
Avec sa musique immortelle, Beethoven est considéré comme un artiste radical et un visionnaire créatif, ayant défendu passionnément les idéaux de liberté et de fraternité, en particulier à travers sa Symphonie n°9 composée entre 1822 et 1824, ayant profondément influencé l'histoire de la musique au 19ème et 20ème siècle.

To note also on this souvenir sheet, bottom left, the presence of a quote from Beethoven: "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy".
No mention on this souvenir sheet of the official logo of the celebrations of this 250th anniversary, "BTHVN2020" (reminding that Beethoven sometimes signed some of his scores and letters with only the 5 consonants of his name).
With his immortal music, Beethoven is considered a radical artist and a creative visionary, having passionately defended the ideals of freedom and brotherhood, in particular through his Symphony No. 9 composed between 1822 and 1824, having deeply influenced the history of music in the 19th and 20th century.
