Merci beaucoup Zhou pour cette lettre en provenance des îles Turks-et-Caïcos (ou îles Turques-et-Caïques), envoyée le 2 novembre 2020 depuis l'île de Providenciales (surnommée "Provo" comme mentionnée sur le TAD) située dans le nord-ouest des îles Caïcos, formant avec les îles Turks cet archipel (30 îles) constituant un territoire britannique d'outre-mer des Caraïbes, situé au sud-est des Bahamas, au nord-est de Cuba et au nord d'Haïti.
Connu aujourd'hui pour ses plages et ses services financiers offshore, ce territoire a émis ses premiers timbres en 1867 (profil de la reine Victoria) avec mention "Turks Islands", les premiers timbres avec mention "Turks and Caicos Islands" étant émis en 1900.
Thank you very much Zhou for this letter from the Turks and Caicos Islands, sent on November 2, 2020 from the Providenciales Island (nicknamed "Provo" as mentioned on the postmark), in the northwestern Caicos Islands, forming with the Turks Islands this archipelago (30 islands) constituting a British overseas territory of the Caribbean, located in the southeast of the Bahamas, north-east of Cuba and north of Haiti.
Known today for its beaches and offshore financial services, this territory issued its first stamps in 1867 (profile of Queen Victoria) with mention "Turks Islands", the first stamps with mention "Turks and Caicos Islands" being issued in 1900.

 

La plupart des timbres émis ces dernières années ont pour thème la faune, la flore et la famille royale britannique ou certaines séries abusives n'ayant peu de rapport avec cet archipel ...
Il semble qu'aucun timbres n'ait été émis par la poste des îles Turks-et-Caïcos depuis 2015, le timbre ci-dessus (1,20$) faisant partie d'un feuillet composé de 6 timbres, mis en circulation le 24 novembre 2014 pour annoncer la nouvelle année de la chèvre ou du mouton d'après le calendrier lunaire chinois.
Cette année de la chèvre, qui débutait le 19 février 2015, marquait alors, en Asie, une période de congés et le début de la fête du printemps.
La chèvre, 8ème animal du zodiaque chinois, est considérée comme créative et imaginative mais également hésitante ou capricieuse...
