"In Memoriam June 18, 1942" special postmark on cover from Czech Republic

TAD spécial "In Memoriam 18 juin 1942" sur lettre de République tchèque

Le 18 juin 2022, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation un TAD spécial "In Memoriam 18 juin 1942" en commémoration du 80ème anniversaire de la mort de 7 résistants tchèques, assassinés par la Gestapo alors qu'ils étaient réfugiés dans l'église orthodoxe Saints-Cyrille-et-Méthode de Prague.
Ce TAD, conçu par Jiří Neumann, a été appliqué par le bureau de Prague 28 sur cette lettre affranchie avec 2 timbres identiques (20 CZK), émis le 6 juin 2012 pour commémorer le 70ème anniversaire du massacre de Lidice. Merci beaucoup Slavek !
Ces évènements tragiques eurent lieu suite à l'Opération Anthropoid, le nom de code d'une opération visant à assassiner le dirigeant nazi Reinhard Heydrich, le n° 2 des SS et protecteur de la Bohême-Moravie, pendant la seconde guerre mondiale.
Le 27 mai 1942, la voiture de Heydrich fut en effet attaquée par des membres tchèques du groupe Anthropoid, Jozef Gabčík et Jan Kubiš, formés en Angleterre. Heydrich mourut des suites de ses blessures huit jours plus tard.
On June 18, 2022, the Czech Post put into circulation a special postmark "In Memoriam June 18, 1942" in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the death of 7 Czech resistance fighters, murdered by the Gestapo while they found shelter in the Orthodox Church of St. Cyril and Methodius of Prague.
This postmark, designed by Jiří Neumann, was applied by the Prague 28 post office on this cover franked with two identical stamps (20 CZK), issued on June 6, 2012 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Lidice massacre. Thank you very much Slavek!
These tragic events took place following Operation Anthropoid, the codename that was used for an operation attempting to assassinate the Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich, the SS # 2 and protector of Bohemia and Moravia during the Second World War. 
On May 27, 1942, Heydrich's car was indeed attacked by Czech members of the group Anthropoid, Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík, trained in England. Heydrich died of his injuries eight days later.

 

 

Cette Opération Anthropoid, le seul assassinat réussi d'un dignitaire nazi du IIIème Reich, eut néanmoins de terribles répercussions dans le pays avec près de 15000 personnes assassinées en représailles...
Deux villages en particulier, Lidice et Ležáky, furent rasés par les troupes Nazies en juin 1942. Les 184 hommes habitant à Lidice furent en particulier assassinés par les SS, les femmes déportées vers le camp de Ravensbrück et les enfants placés dans des familles allemandes ou déportés.
Le TAD ci-dessus mentionne les noms des 7 résistants assassinés le 18 juin 1942 dans cette église Saints-Cyrille-et-Méthode de Prague, dont 3 ayant participé à cette Opération Anthropoid, Jozef Gabčík, Jan Kubiš et Josef Valčík, avec également Jaroslav Švarc (commando TIN), Adolf Opálka (commando Out Distance), Jan Hrubý et Josef Bublík.

This Operation Anthropoid, the only successful assassination of a Nazi dignitary of the Third Reich, nevertheless had terrible repercussions in the country with nearly 15,000 people murdered in retaliation...

Two villages in particular, Lidice and Ležáky, were razed by Nazi troops in June 1942. The 184 men living in Lidice were in particular murdered by the SS, the women deported to the Ravensbrück camp and the children placed with German families or deported.
