Dans un message précédent dans lequel je vous présentais quelques jolies lettres d'Allemagne, j'avais déjà évoqué la série de 4 timbres avec surtaxe au profit d'oeuvres sociales de la poste allemande, représentant des aéronefs.
Après le Do J Wal, voici un 2ème timbre de cette série, émise le 12 juin 2008, consacré au désormais célèbre Airbus A380. Merci beaucoup Igor :-)
L'A380 est le plus gros avion de transport civil de l'histoire : 4 réacteurs, 73 m de long, 80 m d'envergure, 24 m de hauteur. Suivant les configurations, il peut transporter entre 555 et 853 passagers !
Les différentes pièces sont fabriquées dans plusieurs pays européens, dont l'Allemagne, avant assemblage à Toulouse en France.
In a previous post in which I presented a few nice letters from Germany, I'd already mentioned the series of four stamps with surcharge for the benefit of social works of the German Post, representing different aircrafts.
After the Do J Wal, here's a second stamp from this series, issued on June 12, 2008, devoted to the now famous Airbus A380. Thank you very much Igor :-)
The A380 is the largest civil transport aircraft in history : 4 reactors, 73 m long, 80 m wide, 24 m high. According to configurations, it can carry between 555 and 853 passengers !
The different parts are manufactured in several European countries including Germany, before being assembly in Toulouse, France.

J'aime bien la façon originale dont la Deutsche Post a représenté cet avion : de derrière !
Ce timbre était positionné en haut à droite d'une feuille de 10 timbres. C'est en effet à cet endroit qu'une inscription dans la marge rappelle que l'altitude de croisière de cet avion est de 13100 m.
D'autres inscriptions dans les marges indiquent que son autonomie est de 15200 km et que sa vitesse de croisière est de 920 km/h.
L'Allemagne n'est pas le 1er pays à avoir déjà consacré un timbre à cet appareil, la France en 2006, le Tadjikistan en 2005, l'Australie (le 5 août prochain) et Singapour qui l'avait fait figuré sur des vignettes attenantes à des timbres pour commémorer le 1er vol commercial d'un A380 par la compagnie Singapore Airline...
Ce courrier est également intéressant grâce aux 2 oblitérations spéciales du 1er juillet 2008.
Ce cachet de Friedrichshafen, au bord du lac de Constance, commémore les 100 ans du 1er vol du dirigeable Zeppelin LZ4 au dessus de la Suisse le 1er juillet 1908. Pendant 12 heures, le LZ4 surnommé le "cigare géant" avait alors parcouru 387 km. Pour commémorer cet événement, un Zeppelin NT a effectué un vol postal le 1er juillet 2008 entre Altenrhein en Suisse et Friedrichshafen.
La poste suisse a d'ailleurs également mis en circulation ce jour-là une oblitération spéciale apposée sur le courrier à Altenrhein.
A noter que la poste suisse avait déjà représenté ce nouveau Zeppelin NT sur un timbre émis le 6 mai 2004...

This stamp was positioned in the upper right corner of a sheet of 10 stamps. It's indeed at this place that a mention in the margin recalls that the cruising altitude of this aircraft is 13.100 m. Other inscriptions in the margins indicate that its autonomy is 15.200 km and its cruising speed is 920 km/h.
Germany is not the first country to have already issued a stamp about this aircraft, France in 2006, Tajikistan in 2005, Australia (next August 5) and Singapore which had figured it on vignettes attached to stamps to commemorate the 1st commercial flight of an A380 by the Singapore Airline company...
This cover is also interesting because of the two special cancellations of July 1, 2008.
This postmark from Friedrichshafen, on Constance lake, commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the first flight of a Zeppelin LZ4 over Switzerland on July 1, 1908. For 12 hours, LZ4 nicknamed the "giant cigar" had travelled 387 km. To commemorate this event, a Zeppelin NT has operated a postal flight on July 1, 2008 between Altenrhein, Switzerland and Friedrichshafen.
The Swiss Post has also put into circulation this day a special cancellation affixed on mails in Altenrhein.
Note that the Swiss Post had already represented this new Zeppelin NT on a stamp issued on May 6, 2004...
