Mieux vaut tard que jamais !!
La poste moldave a émis in extremis un timbre commémoratif à 4,50 L consacré au championnat d'Europe de football 2008 qui eu lieu en Suisse et en Autriche.
L'oblitération "1er jour" ("Prima zi a emisiunii") sur le FDC spécial ci-dessous est en date du 28 juin 2008, soit 1 jour avant la finale du 29 juin qui a vu l'Espagne battre l'Allemagne 1-0 !!
Etrange d'avoir émis ce timbre si tard ??
L'honneur est sauf, la poste moldave a bien fait figurer le logo officiel de ce championnat en haut à gauche du timbre !

The Post of Moldova has issued in extremis a commemorative L 4.50 stamp devoted to the 2008 European Football Championship, which took place in Switzerland and Austria.
The "First Day of issue" ("Prima zi a emisiunii") cancellation on the special FDC below is dated June 28, 2008, only one day before the Final on June 29 which saw Spain beating Germany 1-0 ! Strange to have issued this stamp so late, no ?
But the Moldovan Post has well included the official logo of this Championship in the top left of the stamp !

Autre bizarrerie, le stade représenté sur l'enveloppe n'est pas un des 8 stades suisses ou autrichiens ayant accueilli les matchs de cette compétition ?
Ce stade apparaît d'ailleurs aussi sur la droite de ce timbre. Et vous, savez-vous où pourrait être situé ce stade ? Ce n'est pas non plus le Zimbru Stadium de Chişinău, la capitale...
Pas surprenant de retrouver également un ballon de football au milieu du timbre, mais pourquoi a-t-il été pris pour une pendule ? et pourquoi afficher cette heure-là, 10h10 ou 22h10 ?
Côté sportif, l'équipe de Moldavie n'était malheureusement pas qualifiée pour cette phase finale. Lors des éliminatoires, elle était dans le groupe de la Grèce, la Turquie, la Norvège, la Bosnie-Herzégovine, la Hongrie et Malte. La Moldavie n'a terminé que 5ème de ce groupe avec tout de même des victoires honorables face à la Hongrie, la Bosnie et Malte...
Je ne préfère pas vous parler du parcours de la France lors de cet EURO :-(
An other oddity, the stadium represented on this envelope is not one of the eight Swiss or Austrian stadiums which hosted the matches of this competition ?
This same stadium also appears on the right side of the stamp. Do you know where could be located this stadium ? This is neither the Zimbru Stadium of Chişinău, the capital...
Not surprisingly to find also a ball in the middle of the stamp, but why was it taken for a clock ? and why this hour, 10:10 or 22:10 ?
On sport's side, the Moldovan team was unfortunately not qualified for this final round. During the playoffs, it was in the group of Greece, Turkey, Norway, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary and Malta. Moldova was finally ranked 5th of this group with some honourable wins versus Hungary, Bosnia and Malta...
I'll not speak here about what have done the French team during this EURO :-(
