Le 23 octobre 2019, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation un splendide bloc-feuillet (2 timbres) consacré à deux grandes figures du théâtre et du cinéma, l'actrice Dana Medřická (1920-1983) et l'acteur Radovan Lukavský (1919-2008).
Conçu par Eva Hašková et Jan Maget, ce bloc-feuillet a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée en recommandé de Prague (sans oblitérations malheureusement). Merci beaucoup Bret !
J'aime beaucoup les marges de ce bloc-feuillet, représentant la salle principale du Théâtre national de Prague, avec cet ange tenant un ruban aux couleurs de la Bohême...
Bret a complété son affranchissement avec, entre autres, un autre timbre (tarif A) en 2 exemplaires, émis le même jour, évoquant les 60 ans de la création du théâtre Semafor à Prague.
On October 23, 2019, the Czech Post put into circulation a beautiful souvenir sheet (2 stamps) devoted to two great figures of theater and cinema, the actress Dana Medřická (1920-1983) and the actor Radovan Lukavský (1919-2008).
Designed by Eva Hašková and Jan Maget, this souvenir sheet was used on the letter below sent by registered mail from Prague (unfortunately, without cancellations). Thank you very much Bret!

Bret completed his postage with, among others, another stamp ("A") in two copies, issued the same day, evoking the 60th anniversary of the creation of the Semafor Theater in Prague.
Dana Medřická (23 CZK) a commencé à étudier dans un conservatoire après avoir obtenu son diplôme de lycée, puis a rejoint une compagnie de théâtre de Brno au printemps 1940.
Elle a ensuite rejoint une compagnie de théâtre à Plzeň et a ensuite déménagé à Prague avant la fin de la guerre. Elle a joué des dizaines de personnages féminins divers du répertoire mondial sur les scènes des théâtres de la ville de Prague et du Théâtre national.
Elle a notamment joué Slávka dans "La Lune sur la rivière" de Fráňa Šrámek, Blanche dans "Un tramway nommé Désir" de Tennessee Williams, la mère dans "Mère Courage et ses enfants" de Bertolt Brecht et Erzsi Orbánné dans "Jeux de chat" de István Örkény.
Dana Medřická est également apparue dans plusieurs séries télévisées et son couple (joué avec
Karel Höger) dans "Romeo a Julie na konci listopadu" est resté inoubliable.
Dana Medřická (23 CZK) started studying at a conservatory after graduating from high school, then joined a theater company in Brno in the spring of 1940.
She then joined a theater company in Plzeň and then moved to Prague before the end of the war. She has played dozens of diverse female characters from the world repertoire on the stages of Prague's theaters and the National Theater.
She notably played Slávka in Fráňa Šrámek's "Moon on the River", Blanche in "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams, the mother in "Mother Courage and Her Children" by Bertolt Brecht and Erzsi Orbánné in "Cat's Play" by István Örkény.
Dana Medřická also appeared in several TV series and her couple (played with Karel Höger) in "Romeo a Julie na konci listopadu" remained unforgettable.

Jiří Suchý (born in 1931) is, with Jiří Šlitr, one of the two founders of this Semafor theater and cabaret in 1959 (the two hats on the postmark evoke these two personalities).
Semafor is an acronym for "SEdm MAlých FORem" meaning "Seven Small Forms", forms that were originally cinema, poetry, jazz, puppetry, dance, theater and musical.
In the 1960s, this theater, subversive and open to western musical styles, represented a constant and irrefutable denial of the immutable dogmas of the communist regime.
