Comme de nombreuses administrations postales (France, Serbie, Grande-Bretagne, Australie, Nouvelle-Zélande...), la poste tchèque a émis, le 11 juin 2014, un splendide et très émouvant bloc-feuillet consacré à la 1ère guerre mondiale et en particulier aux victimes militaires et civiles de ce conflit qui a marqué le début du 20ème siècle.
J'ai reçu les 2 FDCs officiels ci-dessous incluant chacun un des 2 timbres (29 CZK chacun) composant ce bloc conçu par Jan Maget. Merci beaucoup Bret :-)
A noter le TAD Premier Jour de Prague avec cette croix en fil barbelé et cette colombe morte au centre...
Such as many postal administrations (France, Serbia, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand...), the Czech Post has issued on June 11, 2014, a beautiful and very moving souvenir sheet dedicated to WW1 and in particular to the the military and civilian victims of that conflict that marked the beginning of the 20th century.
I've received the two official FDCs below each including one of the two stamps (29 CZK each) of that souvenir sheet designed by Jan Maget. Thank you very much Bret :-)
To note the FDC postmark from Prague with this barbed wire cross and this dead dove in the center...
Les gravures sur ces 2 FDCs, conçues par Vaclav Fajt, représentent respectivement différents casques et chapeaux des troupes en présence lors de ce conflit et des portraits de héros de guerre devant un aigle à 2 têtes (symbole de l'empire austro-hongrois auquel la Tchécoslovaquie était alors rattachée ?) et avec un lion couché au 1er plan.
The engravings on these two FDCs, designed by Vaclav Fajt, respectively feature different helmets and hats of the troops present in this conflict and portraits of war heroes in front of a two-headed eagle (symbol of the Austro-Hungarian Empire which Czechoslovakia was then attached ?) and with a lion lying in the foreground.

Les drapeaux des forces en présence dans la marge supérieure constituent la seule partie colorée de ce bloc : les forces alliées (Russie, France, Grande-Bretagne, Japon) et les empires centraux (Allemagne, Autriche-Hongrie, empire Ottoman, Italie).
Des mentions figurent sur le cadre extérieur de ce bloc : les noms de batailles célèbres (Sedan, Verdun et Marne en France, Halič en Slovaquie, Tannenberg en Pologne), le nom des principaux pays belligérants, le nombre de soldats mobilisés (42 millions pour les alliés et 23 millions pour les empires centraux), les dirigeants des pays concernés (Guillaume II, tsar Nicolas II, François-Joseph I, sultan Mehmet V...) ainsi que le nombre de victimes militaires (5 millions pour les puissances alliées et 8 millions pour les empires centraux).

The flags of the countries engaged in the WWI in the top margin are the only colored part of this sheet : the Entente Powers (Russia, France, Britain, Japan) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, Italy).
Some mentions are included on the outer frame of this souvenir sheet : the names of famous battles (Sedan, Verdun and Marne in France, Halič in Slovakia, Tannenburg in Poland), the name of the main belligerent countries, the number of soldiers mobilized (42 million for the allies and 23 million for the Central Powers), the leaders of the countries concerned (Wilhelm II, Tsar Nicolas II, Franz Joseph I, Sultan Mehmed V...) as well as the number of military casualties (5 million for the Allied Powers and 8 million for the Central Powers).
Cette dernière mention (8 millions de soldats tués pour les empires centraux) semble erronée puisque l'estimation est plutôt de 4 millions de victimes militaires (et plus de 5 millions de victimes civiles)...
Les 2 vignettes en haut à gauche et à droite évoquent des prestations de serment de soldats tchèques lors de ce conflit mondial.
La vignette à gauche est intéressante puisqu'elle représente l'engagement de volontaires tchécoslovaques en France auprès de la légion étrangère, à Bayonne. Cette compagnie était surnommée "Compagnie Nazdar".
This last mention (8 million soldiers killed for the Central Powers) seems wrong since the estimate number is more than 4 million military casualties (and more than 5 million civilian casualties)...
The two labels at the top left and right evoke some swearings by Czech soldiers during this World War.
The label on the left is interesting as it features the engagement of the Czechoslovak Legion volunteers in France, in Bayonne. This company was then nicknamed "Nazdar Company".
