Après 3 ans de travaux et 6 ans de fermeture, le parc zoologique de Paris vient de rouvrir ses portes au public, 80 ans après sa création dans le bois de Vincennes (sud-est de la capitale).
Rattaché au Museum national d'histoire naturelle, ce zoo propose un véritable tour du monde de la biodiversité avec 180 espèces différentes et plus de 1000 animaux.
Le public peut y découvrir 5 biozones (Patagonie, Savane-Sahel, Europe, Guyane, Madagascar) offrant aux animaux concernés des conditions de vie optimales.
Pour commémorer à la fois sa réouverture et son 80ème anniversaire (1934-2014), la poste française a émis (vente générale le 23 juin 2014) un timbre spécial consacré à ce parc zoologique de Paris.
After 3 years of work and 6 years of closure, the Zoological Park of Paris has reopened its doors to the public, 80 years after its creation in the Bois de Vincennes (southeast of the capital).
Part of the French National Museum of Natural History, this Zoo offers a world tour of biodiversity with 180 different species and over 1,000 animals.
The public can now discover five biozone areas (Patagonia, Savanna-Sahel, Europe, Guyana, Madagascar) offering to the animals concerned some optimal living conditions.
To commemorate both its reopening and its 80th anniversary (1934-2014), the French Post has issued (general sale on June 23, 2014) a special stamp dedicated to this Paris Zoo.
C'est ce timbre (0,98€, tirage : 1200000), conçu par Eric Viennot, qui figure sur les 2 plis Premier Jour ci-dessus et ci-dessous (merci beaucoup Roland !).
Le TAD du 15 juin 2014 (la prévente de ce timbre avait lieu au Salon "Planète Timbres" organisé non loin de ce zoo), également conçu par Eric Viennot, reproduit le logo de ce parc zoologique.
Le "grand rocher", un symbole de ce parc, figure sur ce logo ainsi que sur le timbre, sur fond blanc.
Les contours de la grande volière sont également représentés sur ce timbre tout en longueur.
Les 4 espèces animales figurant sur ce timbre illustrent l'engagement du parc pour la sauvegarde de la biodiversité : un lémurien (propithèque couronné), un jaguar, un flamand rose et une girafe.

The FDC cancellation of June 15, 2014 (the preview sale of the stamp took place during the Stamp exhibition "Planète Timbres" organized not far from the zoo), also designed by Eric Viennot, reproduces the logo of the zoo.
The "big rock", a symbol of the park, is featured on this logo as well as on the stamp on white background.
The contours of the large aviary are also included on this large sized stamp.
The four animal species depicted on that stamp illustrate the commitment of the park for the conservation of biodiversity : a lemur (crowned sifaka), a jaguar, a flamingo and a giraffe.
L'illustration à gauche sur cette enveloppe ci-dessus permet d'apprécier ce "grand rocher" ainsi que quelques girafes dans leur environnement "naturel" !
The illustration to the left on the envelope above allow to see this "big rock" as well as some giraffes in their "natural" environment !
