Il était presque évident que la poste brésilienne commémore les 200 ans de la naissance de Louis Braille (1809-1852) puisqu'elle fut la première administration postale au monde à émettre un timbre avec une inscription en braille (1974-Conseil mondial pour le bien-être des aveugles) !
Elle émettra à nouveau un timbre en braille en 1979 pour célébrer les 150 ans de la première publication en braille.
Un 3ème timbre en braille fut émis en 2008 en l'honneur du poète João Guimarães Rosa et de son ouvrage "Sagarana", édité à l'époque en braille.

It was almost obvious that the Brazilian Post commemorates the 200 years of the birth of Louis Braille (1809-1852) because it was the first postal administration in the world to issue a stamp with Braille embossed letters (1974-World Council for the welfare of the blind) !
Brazil issued another stamp in Braille in 1979 to celebrate the 150 years of first publication in Braille.

Comme déjà évoqué sur ce blog, de très nombreuses administrations postales ont émis cette année un timbre commémorant le bicentenaire de la naissance de Louis Braille, inventeur français, bienfaiteur des malvoyants et aveugles.Le timbre brésilien représente un buste en bronze de Braille (situé à Coupvray, sa ville natale ?) ainsi qu'une carte du monde rappelant l'implantation universelle du système braille et divers appareils plus ou moins anciens permettant d'écrire en braille.
Pour écrire en braille, on utilise en effet un poinçon qui enfonce des points sur une feuille de papier retenue par une tablette métallique, ces points apparaissent ainsi en relief au verso.
Ce timbre ci-dessus comporte la mention "Louis Braille" en alphabet braille, ce que mentionne également l'oblitération "1er jour".
A noter que la France n'a émis son 1er timbre avec une mention en braille (évoquant alors V. Haüy) qu'en 1989 et que le timbre émis début 2009 est le 1er émis en France avec une valeur faciale en braille, mieux vaut tard que jamais...
As already mentioned on this blog, many postal administrations have this year already issued a stamp commemorating the bicentenary of the birth of Louis Braille, French inventor, benefactor of the visually impaired and blind.
The Brazilian stamp depicts a bronze bust of Braille (located in his hometown of Coupvray ?) and a map of the world recalling the universal implementation of the Braille system and various more or less old equipments to write in Braille.
To write in Braille, you've to use a punch to push points on a sheet of paper retained by a metal tablet, these points appearing embossed on the back.
This stamp, and the FDC cancellation, also includes the words "Louis Braille" in Braille alphabet. Note that France has issued its first stamp with words in Braille (referring to V. Haüy) in 1989 and the stamp issued in early 2009 is the first ever issued in France with a nominal value in Braille, better late than never...
L'autre FDC ci-dessus est consacré à la 2ème émission de l'année au Brésil : un timbre autocollant à 1 R$ émis le 13 janvier 2009 qui rappelle que le Brésil est le leader mondial dans la production de carburants renouvelables.Les 2 timbres identiques ci-dessus ont été oblitérés avec l'oblitération "1er jour" émise à Piracicaba, dans l'état de São Paulo, un site important de production d'éthanol au Brésil.
Alors que l'utilisation de sources d'énergies renouvelables est de 13% au niveau mondial, ce taux est de 46% au Brésil, en grande partie grâce à ces additifs agricoles (principalement à base de canne à sucre et d'oléagineux) dans l'essence, utilisés pour alimenter les voitures.
L'utilisation de ces biocarburants permet aussi aux véhicules d'émettre moins de CO2.
Je ne suis pas un spécialiste de cette question mais certains scientifiques remettent en question la production de ces carburants à base de produits agricoles alors que tant de personnes meurent encore de faim sur notre planète...
The other FDC above is devoted to this year's 2nd issue in Brazil : a self-adhesive R$ 1.00 stamp issued on January 13 2009 that is recalling that Brazil is the world leader in the production of renewable fuels.
The two identical stamps above were canceled with a FDC postmark issued in Piracicaba, located in the State of São Paulo, an important site of ethanol production in Brazil.
While the use of renewable energy sources is 13% in the world, the rate is 46% in Brazil, largely due to these agricultural additives (mainly based on sugar cane and oilseeds) in gasoline used by cars.
The use of biofuels also allows vehicles to emit less CO2 in the air.
I'm not an expert on this question, but some scientists are sceptical about the production of these fuels based on agricultural products when so many people still die of hunger on our planet...
On retrouve le timbre consacré à Louis Braille sur cette lettre ci-dessus postée le 5 février 2009 de la ville de Goiânia, capitale de l'état brésilien de Goiás.Merci beaucoup Luis :-)
Luis a eu la bonne idée d'associer ce timbre avec un autre, émis le 16 août 2006, consacré au comité paralympique brésilien. Ce comité n'a été fondé qu'en 1995 mais la pratique de sport par des personnes handicapées date de 1958 dans le pays.
Ce timbre, émis en hommage aux athlètes paralympiques, représente le logo du comité paralympique brésilien ainsi qu'un athlète dans une épreuve d'athlétisme en fauteuil roulant. 3 pictogrammes bleus, oranges et verts symbolisent des épreuves de natation, athlétisme et à nouveau athlétisme en fauteuil.
La phrase inscrite dans la partie supérieure, "Verás que um filho teu não foge à luta" est extraite de l'hymne national brésilien et signifie "Tu ne verras pas un enfant fuir le combat"...
A noter aussi sur cette lettre l'oblitération spéciale, en bas à gauche, émise à l'occasion du 38ème forum du Lions International pour la région Amérique Latine et Caraïbes, organisé fin janvier à Goiânia.
We find again the Louis Braille's stamp on the cover above mailed on February 5 2009 from the city of Goiânia, capital of the Brazilian State of Goiás.

Luis has had the good idea to combine this stamp with another stamp, issued on August 16 2006, devoted to the Brazilian Paralympic Committee. This Committee was founded in 1995 but the practice of sports by disabled people began in 1958 in the country.
This stamp, issued in honor of the Paralympic athletes, depicts the logo of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and an athlete in an athletic competition in a wheelchair. Three blue, orange and green pictograms symbolize some events in swimming, athletics and wheelchair athletics again.
The words included in the upper part, "Verás que um filho teu não foge à luta" are taken from the Brazilian national anthem and could mean "You will not perceive your children fearing to fight"...
It should also be noted on this letter the special cancellation, lower left, issued at the occasion of the 38th Lions International's Forum for the Latin American and the Caribbean region, held in late January in Goiânia.
Cette dernière lettre ci-dessous a été envoyée le 29 janvier 2009 de la ville de Cachoeira Paulista, dans l'est de l'état de São Paulo.J'ai déjà évoqué le timbre de gauche faisant partie de la série de Noël émise le 17 octobre 2008.
Le timbre du milieu fait partie d'une série de 3 timbres, émis le 19 décembre 2005, consacrés à des professions anciennes dont l'existence est menacée dans notre nouvelle société de consommation. Ce timbre symbolise le métier de cordonnier ("sapateiro" en portugais), les 2 autres évoquent une couturière et un cireur de chaussure.
Le timbre à droite, émis dans une série de 3 timbres en 1994, commémore les 200 ans de la naissance du botaniste et explorateur allemand, Karl Friedrich Philipp von Martius (1794-1868).
Il consacra de nombreux ouvrages à la flore brésilienne (dont le "Flora Brasiliensis" débuté en 1840) et publiera un récit de ses voyages, accompagné de nombreuses illustrations botaniques.
Ce timbre représente des fleurs de Jacaranda paucifoliolata, une des 49 espèces de Jacarandas, arbres de la famille des Bignoniaceae, originaire du Brésil.
A noter enfin que le nom du botaniste est mal orthographié sur ce timbre : "Phillip" au lieu de "Philipp" !

The central stamp is part of a series of three stamps, issued on December 19 2005, devoted to ancient professions whose existence is threatened in our new consumer society. This stamp depicts a shoemaker ("sapateiro" in Portuguese), the other two stamps evoking a seamstress and a shoe shine.
The right stamp, issued in a series of three stamps in 1994, commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of the German botanist and explorer, Karl Friedrich Philipp von Martius (1794-1868).
He dedicated many works to the flora of Brazil (including his "Flora Brasiliensis" started in 1840) and published a travel book, with many botanical illustrations.
This stamp represents some flowers of Jacaranda paucifoliolata, one of the 49 species of Jacarandas, trees of the Bignoniaceae family, native from Brazil.
It is worth noting that the name of the botanist is misspelled on the stamp : "Phillip" instead of "Philipp" !
