200 years of the composer Mendelssohn Bartholdy

Le 3 février 1809, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy naissait à Hambourg, dans le nord de l'Allemagne.
Presque 200 ans après, la Deutsche Post a émis le 12 février 2009 un timbre commémoratif à 0,65€ reproduisant un portrait du célèbre compositeur allemand.
Merci beaucoup Igor pour cette jolie lettre avec ce timbre et l'intéressante oblitération spéciale de sa ville natale, qui empiète quelque peu sur son visage... :-)
Un autre portrait y est représenté devant peut-être sa maison natale (?).
J'ai déjà évoqué dans un message précédent le timbre de distributeur à gauche émis récemment et représentant la tour de la Deutsche Post à Bonn.
On February 3 1809, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was born in Hamburg, northern Germany.
Almost 200 years later, the Deutsche Post has issued on February 12 2009 a commemorative stamp (€ 0.65) reproducing a portrait of the famous German composer.
Igor thank you very much for this nice cover below with the stamp and the special attractive cancellation from his hometown, which encroaches a little on his face... :-)
Another portrait is depicted maybe in front of his birth home (?).
I've already mentioned in a previous post the ATM stamp on the left issued recently with a view of the Deutsche Post Tower in Bonn.

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) fut donc un des plus grands compositeurs, pianistes et chef d'orchestre romantique de son époque, malgré sa très courte vie...
Certains l'ont d'ailleurs surnommé "le Mozart du 19ème siècle".
Son oeuvre s'inscrit dans les pas de Haydn, Mozart ou Beethoven. Enfant prodige, il fut à seulement 20 ans, à l'origine de la première représentation de la "Passion selon Saint Mathieu" de Bach, compositeur qu'il admirait. Il fut durant plusieurs années à la tête de l'orchestre du Gewandhaus de Leipzig, où il mourut à seulement 38 ans...
Cette année 2009 est une année importante pour les amateurs de musique classique puisque l'on commémore aussi les 250 ans de la mort de Georg Friedrich Haendel et les 200 ans de la mort de Joseph Haydn.
Ces 3 compositeurs seront très certainement encore à l'honneur sur timbres cette année !
Par exemple en Belgique avec un bloc-feuillet de 5 timbres émis le 11 mai 2009.

He was sometimes nicknamed "the Mozart of the 19th century".
His work is in the footsteps of Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven. Child prodigy, he was at the age of 20 at the origin of the first performance of the "St. Matthew Passion" by Bach, a composer he admired. He was for several years at the head of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, where he died at only 38 years...
This year 2009 is an important year for lovers of classical music as we also commemorate the 250th anniversary of the death of Georg Friedrich Handel and the 200 years of the death of Joseph Haydn.
These three composers will certainly still be in the spotlight on stamps this year !
For example in Belgium with a souvenir sheet of five stamps issued on May 11 2009.
