Le 26 novembre 2019, la poste moldave a mis en circulation un TAD spécial consacré au 140ème anniversaire de la naissance de l'une des plus marquantes personnalités de l'art bessarabien de l'entre-deux-guerres, Auguste Baillayre (1879-1961).
Artiste (peintre, graphiste, décorateur) et collectionneur, Auguste Baillayre a créé en 1939, avec le sculpteur Alexandru Plămădeală, le Musée national des beaux-arts de Moldavie qui a célébré en 2019 son 80ème anniversaire.
Ce TAD mis en circulation par le bureau postal de Chișinău (MD-2012), conçu par Vitaliu Pogolșa, a été appliqué sur l'enveloppe illustrée pré-timbrée (1,20 L) ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Nicolae !

On November 26, 2019, the Post of Moldova put into circulation a special postmark dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of one of the most outstanding figures of Bessarabian art from the interwar period, Auguste Baillayre (1879-1961).
Artist (painter, graphic designer, decorator) and art collector, Auguste Baillayre created in 1939, with the sculptor Alexandru Plămădeală, the National Museum of Fine Arts of Moldova which celebrated in 2019 its 80th anniversary.
This postmark put into circulation by the postal office of Chișinău (MD-2012), designed by Vitaliu Pogolșa, was applied to the illustrated prepaid envelope (1.20 L) below. Thank you very much Nicolae!
This envelope (design: Oleg Cojocari, print run: 30,000) was issued on May 1, 2009 on the occasion of the 130th birth anniversary of Auguste Ballayre.
Un portrait du peintre figure sur le timbre et deux de ses œuvres, "Nature morte aux poissons" (1927) et "Autoportrait avec des masques" (1945), sont reproduites à gauche sur l'enveloppe.
Auguste Baillayre est né en 1879 en France où il passera son enfance puis son adolescence en Géorgie jusqu'en 1898. Il étudiera ensuite à Amsterdam, Saint-Pétersbourg et Grenoble puis deviendra une personnalité artistique importante en Bessarabie.
Son œuvre s'apparentera successivement au constructivisme (de 1899 à 1918), à l'impressionnisme (de 1918 à 1943 en Bessarabie) puis au post-impressionnisme (de 1943 à sa mort à Bucarest). Il fut professeur à l'école des Beaux-Arts de Chişinău et plusieurs de ses œuvres sont conservées au Musée national des beaux-arts, dont il fut le premier directeur en 1939.
Nicolae a utilisé un autre timbre (4 L) émis le 3 mai 2014 dans une série (3 timbres) consacrée à différents musées nationaux, illustrant ici un des édifices de ce Musée national des beaux-arts.
Ce timbre a été imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres avec 5 vignettes centrales différentes reproduisant des œuvres de ce musée, comme ce "Portrait de femme" (1921) par Auguste Baillayre sur la vignette attenante ci-dessus.
A portrait of the painter is featured on the stamp and two of his works, "Still life with fish" (1927) and "Self-portrait with masks" (1945), are reproduced on the left on the envelope.
Auguste Baillayre was born in 1879 in France where he spent his childhood then his adolescence in Georgia until 1898. He then studied in Amsterdam, Saint Petersburg and Grenoble and then became an important artistic personality in Bessarabia.
His work will be successively related to constructivism (from 1899 to 1918), to impressionism (from 1918 to 1943 in Bessarabia) then to post-impressionism (from 1943 to his death in Bucharest). He was a teacher at the School of Fine Arts in Chişinău and several of his works are kept at the National Museum of Fine Arts, of which he was the first director in 1939.
Nicolae used another stamp (4 L) issued on May 3, 2014 in a series (3 stamps) dedicated to different National Museums, illustrating here one of the buildings of this National Museum of Fine Arts.
This stamp was printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps with 5 different central labels reproducing works from this museum, such as this "Portrait of a woman" (1921) by Auguste Baillayre on the label above.
