"Bird of the Year 2024 - Common pochard" stamp on FDC from Kyrgyzstan (KEP)

Timbre "Oiseau de l'année 2024 - Fuligule milouin" sur FDC du Kirghizstan (KEP) 

Environ 400 espèces d'oiseaux sont recensées au Kirghizstan, beaucoup d'entre elles étant rares et protégées par l'état (57 sont incluses dans le Livre Rouge de la République kirghize).
La Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP), le 2ème opérateur postal désigné du Kirghizstan, a initié en 2019 une série intitulée "Oiseau de l'année" en émettant un timbre consacré à l'outarde canepetière, en 2020 un timbre consacré à la mésange de Sophie, en 2021 un timbre consacré au gypaète barbu, en 2022 un timbre illustrant un moineau domestique et une oie à tête barrée en 2023.
Cette série est conçue en collaboration avec la Kyrgyz Wildlife Conservation Society (KWCS), le partenaire de "Birdlife international" au Kirghizstan, qui désigne chaque année une espèce d'oiseau particulièrement menacée.
Le 10 mars 2025, un nouveau timbre (avec millésime 2024) a été émis dans le cadre de cette série, consacré cette fois au fuligule milouin.
Ce très joli timbre (150 + 50 KGS, tirage : 7000), conçu par Daria Maier et imprimé en Moldavie par "Nova Imprim", figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous (tirage : 400), avec TAD de Bichkek.  
About 400 species of birds are recorded in Kyrgyzstan, many of them are rare and protected by the state (57 are included in the Red Book of the Kyrgyz Republic).
The Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP), the 2nd designated postal operator of Kyrgyzstan, has launched in 2019 a "Bird of the Year" series by issuing a stamp dedicated to the Little Bustard and then, in 2020, a stamp devoted to the White-browed tit warbler, in 2021, a stamp devoted to the Bearded vulture, in 2022 a stamp featuring a House sparrow and a Bar-headed goose in 2023. 
This series is designed in collaboration with the Kyrgyz Wildlife Conservation Society (KWCS), the partner of Birdlife International in Kyrgyzstan, which annually designates a particularly endangered bird species. 
On March 10, 2025, a new stamp (with year 2024) was issued in this series, this time dedicated to the Common pochard.
This very nice stamp (150 + 50 KGS, print run: 7,000), designed by Daria Maier and printed in Moldova by "Nova Imprim", is present on the official FDC below (print run: 400), with cancellation from Bishkek.  

Le fuligule milouin (Aythya ferina) est un oiseau aquatique appartenant à la famille des canards plongeurs. L'une de ses caractéristiques est sa capacité à plonger jusqu'à 2,5 mètres de profondeur et à rester sous l'eau pendant des périodes relativement longues (environ 20 secondes en moyenne).
Le fuligule milouin se nourrit à la fois de matières végétales et animales, son régime alimentaire variant selon la saison et l'habitat. Au Kirghizistan, le fuligule milouin hiverne principalement sur le lac Issyk-Koul et niche sur d'autres lacs de montagne.
Bien que le fuligule milouin ne soit pas répertorié dans le Livre rouge de la République kirghize, la KWCS appelle à la protection de cette espèce d'oiseau, car elle fait partie intégrante de la biodiversité du pays. 
La surtaxe de 50 KGS, récoltée grâce à la vente de ce timbre, sera reversée au fonds de la Kyrgyz Wildlife Conservation Society. 
Au niveau mondial, cette espèce est considérée comme menacée (vulnérable) par l'UICN. 
The Common Pochard (Aythya ferina) is a waterfowl that belongs to the so-called diving ducks. One of the characteristic features of these ducks is their ability to dive to depths of up to 2.5 meters and remain underwater for relatively long periods (on average about 20 seconds).
The Common Pochard feeds on both plant and animal matter, with its diet changing depending on the season and habitat. In Kyrgyzstan, the Common Pochard is mainly found wintering on Lake Issyk-Kul, and nests on other mountain lakes.
Although the Common Pochard is not listed in the Kyrgyz Republic Red Data Book, KWCS calls for the protection of this bird species as an integral part of the country's biodiversity.
The charitable proceeds from the sale of this stamp will be transferred to the fund of KWCS. 
Globally, this species is considered threatened (vulnerable) by the IUCN.

Ce logo représente un bec-d'ibis tibétain (Ibidorhyncha struthersii), déjà à l'honneur sur un des 4 timbres de la série "Oiseaux du Kirghizstan" émise en 2018.
La vignette représente un fuligule milouin mâle, caractérisé par son cou et sa tête d'un brun rouge éclatant, terminés par un bec noir barré de bleu, et ses yeux rouges, et une femelle, grise avec la tête et la poitrine plus sombres et plus brunes. 
This stamp, including the logo of "Birdlife International", an NGO founded in 1922 for the protection of nature and birds in particular, was printed in the beautiful souvenir sheet (5 stamps + 1 label) above. The logo of the Kyrgyz Wildlife Conservation Society (KWCS) is present in the margin at the bottom right.
This logo represents a Ibisbill (Ibidorhyncha struthersii), already in the spotlight on one of the four stamps of the series "Birds of Kyrgyzstan" issued in 2018. 
The label represents a male, characterized by its bright reddish-brown neck and head, ending in a black beak barred with blue, and its red eyes, and a female, gray with a darker, browner head and chest.
